I guess having 711 suspend locking across the country for everyone proves that they cant detect helicopters, Suspending locking would have cost them a lot of money in terms of lost sales and annoyance to non heli pilots
They've suspended my account before so I think they can. Luckily I live near this one so could lock it legitimately.
Well on iOS they can’t detect it once your in the region however if you change loco abruptly while the app is open on screen and you’ve given the app permission to your location I think its sets off some red flags.

Sorry in advance if this has already been answered.. I have never used the 7 Eleven fuel lock before, do I need to see the attendant before I fill up and show them my locked price? Or do I fill up first and then show them my fuel lock afterwards when I go to pay?
Just show them the barcode on the app when you go to pay.

I filled up two cars this morning, with around 80 litres.
Attendant scanned my complete original voucher, said that the discount did not work.
Gave me a receipt and told me to call 7-11.
FYI, not used the app often, only a ywo-three times.

What is a complete original voucher? Don't you just scan your 7 eleven app barcode?
Just do a chargeback if you paid by credit card.

That's what I meant, the actual phone voucher on the phone.
Keep your receipt and go to the app > More tab > Help & Support > Contact Us > Fuel Price Lock. Send them an email and attach a picture of your receipt from yesterday.
last time I just used this text:
"Hi 7-Eleven team,
I tried to fill up last night and when I went through to the register to pay my locked voucher was scanned but the computer system froze up and the attendant couldn't get it to work. I paid the full amount but my voucher was locked in for 125.3c/L."
Substitute your own values and send it off. They'll be in touch with a resolution.

It’s all gonski. They don’t care about the fuel lock page they scan your barcode to give you the discount. If they scan your barcode now they’ll see nothing.

This is a decision not taken lightly and we apologise to those customers who have legitimately locked in the price, which was incorrect and mistakenly posted.

Last night an incorrect price for unleaded fuels was posted in error at our Wantirna store and we subsequently saw a high volume of fuel price locks in connection with this error.
Unfortunately, what we have also witnessed is numerous online sites and social media posts actively encouraging customers across Australia to breach our terms and conditions through manipulation of the My 7-Eleven App’s Fuel Price Lock function.

Hopefully they don't investigate much further and introduce anti-chopper functionality. When something like this makes the news it means executive take notice.

Yep, they only cancelled everyone who has a fuel lock at those prices, which is quite easy for them to do
Or maybe they can detect but just don't care too much except in extreme circumstances like this.

they will never be able to detect it on iOS devices but in theory they could implement a sanity check such as duration between lock and fill up if too far away (ie WA to NSW in 5 minutes). Credit card issuers have similar algos for fraud prevention.
Doubt they will, even with the price locks before this incident they would've still been making money by poaching other potential servo customers, not like the aus-only abnormal fuel cycles actually reflect their running costs. The 711s near me are rarely the cheapest and sometimes when it's <4c difference I can't even be bothered locking in.
The only thing they'd probably do is block interstate locks. So prices locked can only be used in that state….
Oh well, you win some, you lose some. I'll continue to pay a little more and fill up at my local BP.

I was initially thinking it was one too but now that they have revoked all locks, it seems it was a genuine error.
