[VIC] Protector P2 Trade Mate Respirator/Mask 20pk, $8 (Was $16) @ Bunnings West Footscray

350

Not on the website anymore so maybe on clearance elsewhere. This was at West Footscray (VIC). Seems to go for $30-35 at other retailers so $16 may have been their previous discounted price.

As usual the quality of fit will depend on your face size and shape. Not as comfortable or well fitting as others I've used for me personally, I think these would suit larger faces and heads. If this style fits you well you're laughing at 40c each for a proper P2 headband mask.

Cue COVID comments though I also use them sometimes for the other purposes printed on the box, remember those…

P2 is P2. If they fit well and are comfortable, they work on smoke, silica dust, asbestos, or virus-laden droplets. It does not matter.

If you wear a mask, it may as well be P2/N95. Why muck about with those blue surgical ones?

These ones are not as effective in choking the marinelife

Why muck about with those blue surgical ones?

When P2 were $1/$2 each, that's why. But now it's coming down, bonza.

Except maybe on worksites, or airplanes or hospitals?

If you have flu, wear it ffs, stop spreading

    • Are you kidding? You can come and sand the MDF sheeting for me then, without one.

  • Anyone seen these at other Bunnings?

Not sure if the price is the same in all stores but this is the remaining stock levels.

  • I use these masks for their intended purpose as they fit better with the face shield I use, but they are not as good for a COVID mask in my opinion. They are quite rigid and they have a top and bottom strap which makes them harder to take on and off. I don’t think they seal as well due to the rigidity, but as I’m not working with asbestos this doesn’t bother me so much.

Who is the manufacturer if you look inside or on the back of the packaging?

    • +3

The little paper inside says "Guangzhou Harley Commodity Co. Ltd".

      • +1

Thats good; same manufacturer as pre-pandemic. Should still be good.

Thank you! Good chance their filter material is legit since they also other models that are NIOSH approved N95s https://harleycommodityco.com
So the question really is on comfort and fit, with fit being really important if you need that 95% protection. The semi-rigid cup style masks are known to be less well fitting and more uncomfortable http://doi.org/10.5694/mja2.51585

These bands go around the head and not the ears which makes wearing them longer term more comfy.

If these are the exact same ones that I bought from Bunnings. Sure looks the same.

Pretty much why I gave these a go again after a long while. Office wearing even with breaks of ear loop ones started digging in at the top. Even with ear savers it presses down on the top.

I think I've figured out a way to make these fit just as well as my other headband ones, just need to shorten/tighten the lower elastic band.

I was at Bunnings Crossroads today and they had KN95 masks on clearance for 75 cents per pack of 5 masks. I bought 10 packs (50 masks), plenty left. Other people can check if it's also the same price at the other stores.

    • Wow neat. I stocked up in the old days when it was $2/5. The last time I saw the KN95s at my local it was still $4 for 5, the Craftright variety.

Which ones were on clearance for you? Like Craftright, Wellcare, Sojo?
Most of the ones I got early on were Wellcare but a bit too small in hindsight - the elastic too short to wear for too long or for ear savers. Wish they were all Sojo's or similar instead lol

      • Wellcare. In front of the Trade desk at Crossroads. (Timber section).

        • Are you able to take photo or look inside to find the manufacturer name, manufacture date, expiry date
