  • To qualify, will you have to purchase two separate flights? Most flights with a stopover in Abu Dhabi have layovers <10 hours.

Unless this offer rebooks you on an outbound flight 1 or 2 days after booking this free accommodation?

    • You book it as multi-city.

So Oz-AUH for flight one, AUH-whereever you're going in Europe in flight 2 a couple of days later, Europe-Oz for flight 3 (assuming you want the stopover on the way over).

Worth noting similar to the Emirates offer, these are very very cheap ~$50-60 basic hotel rooms. Not a major deciding factor when spending $2,000+ on plane tickets.

  • I have an outbound flight from Abu Dhabi that was redeemed using VFF. Does this flight qualify?

  • mmmmm, clinical shopping malls, awesome!

    • Louvre, Emirates Palace, Shangri-La, Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan plus much more.

  • Turkish Airlines also has a decent stopover program in Istanbul where you can get one night of 4 star accommodation if flying economy, or two nights of five star accommodation if flying business class (although you do need a visa).

(And the mixed class flights you can book easily on Turkish Airlines' website count as business class. These put you on Thai or shudder Jetstar to Bangkok or Singapore in economy, then business to Europe for just over $4k.)

    • also well worth it on shorter stopovers through Istanbul are the day trips that go out on a boat tour, blue mosque, spice markets, etc. (and you can tune up your photos of them all using that Turkish Adobe Lightroom subscription)

Why not subscribe to Turkish Netflix whilst you're in town too?

Make sure you don’t book during Ramadan. Our, usually, reliable travel agent screwed up on that one when we did a stopover in Dubai.

  • Anyone else have a better stopover program?
