  • any fees for port in/ out ?

    • i don't see it on their page. but if you choose their premium number you have to pay $25

  • +1

Nice offer…, if only Dodo's allocated Optus wholesale slots were capable of 10GB in 30 days…. LOL

    • Is true even if you use it WAY after hours?

    • i didn't have much trouble using my mobile data allowance for their double offpeak quota promo of 16gb

      • How do u use it?

        • 720p24 I expect shall chew up to 1.8 gigabytes/hour :and may my phone / tablet be ready for that challenge.

  • So how much is it per month after the first month???

    • $40 standard price.

    • ops2000

That is the most important point to ask - thanks

      • Not sure if this can be activate later on, if we can activate up to 1 year ahead then this will be the cheapest on the market, 10gb data and unlimited call and texts for $9

        • is it possible? i do use speedtest for my redbbull sim card, i got speed 6Mbps at midnight and only 1.5Mbps during the day

      • Cheers, I thought so too.

Throughout the ad, there never was a mention of how much the monthly recharge was required to stay on this deal.

  • nice!

  • +2

Any idea as how long does it take for the sim to reach us?

If you are porting a number( the site asks to enter details of the current number)

will they process it immediately? delivery takes atleast 2 to 3 days

    Any one previously done this?

    • Also is it possible to pay with something other than credit card so that they don't start charging after the first month?

      • Paypal?

        • Yes or no?

        • Visa, mastercard, amex, dinner and bpay

U have the option for auto top up or manual recharge

        • and BPAY as well

    • +2

Just call dodo, ann said that delivery will take between 5-7 working days

She try to transfer my call to the mobile phone dept but it was close and asked me to call on monday

My question, how many sim card we card purchase and when we have to activate the sim card

    • I bought the free sim to test out the signal and it arrived in 3 days…

Had to say I'm only getting 2G at my place :( I get 3 bars 3G on vodafone, 4 bars on telstra :P just 4km away from Brisbane CBD :/

    • Important - is a delay timer available to the porting process. +1

  • Unlimited porting?

  • I thought dodo used the vodafone network ?

    • Fortunately, they do not. Will get a stronger signal through Optus.

Deal does look nice. . 90 c a gigabyte, has got to be some record.

  • What's network and any fees for port out?

    • +3

Dodo uses optus network. Only fee to port your number would be if you're in a contract with another carrier

  • Looks like we have to decide whether to get a new number or to port existing number when we 'buy now'. Does that mean the sim will be activated immediately?

    • That's a separate issue for some of us who have inactive SIMs from other carriers for this kind of offer. In our case we prefer activate when we are ready.

    • you need to activate later, this is starter pack, i need to call them again on monday to know when the sim card need to activate, read my other post

  • +1

    Still too many open questions:

$9 is for the starter pack yeah? Comes activated? Clock starts ticking from then? If so do we lose a few days? If not when is it activated? How long do we have to activate?

    How many can we buy?

Says 5GB bonus on signup: Is signup different from activate? Same amount of time to activate?

Do we have to cancel after the first month to avoid recurring charges? Or can we pay them by Paypal or BPay so that they can't charge us?

What happens when the data is exceeded (not likely with 10GB I know)? Data cut off? Or will they charge excess if you have registered a CC?

    • +4

it is starter pack mean you need to activate.
how many, i need to call them as their support today told me the department that handle this close. need call back on monday morning

delivery time is 5-7 working days

sign up mean you first activate your sim card. sign up = join, yes it is same as when you activate the sim card.

there is option if you want auto recharge or you want manual recharge.

no paypal, only bpay, mean they only deliver once the money clear in their bank.

it doesn't said data charge excess but you have the option to purchase extra data.

if you don't choose auto recharge, then your account will be automatically stop working. simple.

you have a lot of question, why don't u call dodo on monday?

      • +1

Well you are the OP, so you could save us all time by doing it once for all of us. :)

    • +2

Can be purchased with Credit Card or BPAY Payment
Upon the sign up process you are asked if you want Dodo to automatically charge you for the next month once the 30 days expires

Just to clear things up, SIMS are not activated, once purchased and received you will need to activate the SIM, the 30 Day expiry starts from Activation

If you exceed the 5GB then your connection will be cut off and you can purchase additional data packs if needed.

      • Ok thanks so the only remaining question is how long can we delay activation?

        • From what I have heard there is no limit to how long you wait for activation. Also if credit expires the SIM will stay active for 60 days eg. You can still receive calls

        • +1

i'm pretty sure there will be an expiration on the activation

        • @czechboi —- Please confirm the time limit by which the new sim should be activated

        • @cz; Boris, is that you? Could you please check the terms, my good sir

        • is there any limit how many you can purchase this sim card?

        • most likely the sim card expiration date it self

      • Just to clear things up, SIMS are not activated, once purchased and received you will need to activate the SIM, the 30 Day expiry starts from Activation

@czechboi - I just rang Dodo to ask about delayed activation for the Magic SIM, and the customer support person said that it is not possible to delay activation as the SIM cards are activated 7 days after they are posted.

This seems to contradict what you've said (and I'm hoping you're right!)

Edit: It seems very odd that the SIMs would be automatically activated after 7 days, doesn't make sense anyway.

        • it is, because normally you have to call to active the sim card, i might call them later, try speak with the supervisor or manager directly

        • It can happen because I remember it happened to me when I bought amaysim unlimited on some groupon offer. Sim card came per-activated.

        • for amaysim, they reset the period for my sim after my first call.

        • +4

          here is the clarification:
          1. the sim card will activate 7 days after posted.
          2. no restriction how many you can purchase
          3. you can activate earlier if you wish.
          4. for the port, it will take longer, as they need request with your current provider, issue new sim card and post to you.

good time to replace my current provider with this one :)

        • Did you clear up re 10GB WITH starter pack or 5GB extra upon first recharge?
See comments by mattgal at the bottom of this thread.

        • Thank you OP for the clarification.

(I was thinking that the chances of rep clarifying today are quite low, since it's nearing COB…)

        • no one ask about 10gb, it state clearly 5gb bonus on the starter pack, so it must be the first month

        • +2

To clarify, the bonus is for the first month.
You get a total of 10GB in the first month.

        • I didn’t get 10GB in the first month, could you honour your promise pls? my email: [email protected]

  • Can we buy now and activate it after 3-4 months as I am currently on Redbull data plan ?

    • Yes rep, can you please answer this question?

If my current prepaid expires in a month's time, can I buy this sim now and activate it one month later? Will the porting starts at time of activation or purchase? Obviously I do not want to port it till my current prepaid expires in a month's time. Thanks.

      • no dodo rep in here, better you call dodo on monday morning, coz this is more technical thing

        • Yes there is.

czechboi 3 hours 6 min ago

        • omg, i mixed up between rep and mod

  • +1

Sorry guys have sent a few emails to get clarification on all the remaining questions.. Will hopefully have some answers shortly

    • My question
      1. How many can i purchase? How many 1 same person can activate the starter kit?
      2. When you need to activate the starter kit for eligible the extra 5 gb data
      3. As this is prepaid, if i want to call the country outside the free 50 country listed, how do u charge me?

      • BTW its only 24 countries highlighted (it should be 50), and some big ones like USA UK and NZ are missing (Strangely Canada is there)

And yes if this can be delayed activation (we need to have some date when it must be activated by) then it would be a nice deal to test their service with.

      • +1
        1. You can purchase as many as you like
        2. When activated, the starter kit comes with the extra 5GB
        3. You would have to recharge with additional credit if you wish to make these calls.
    • Did you get any reply on all those clarifications?

  • +1

do they check if you're an existing dodo customer? original offer seems to be for existing dodo customers only, "As a valued Dodo customer, take advantage of Dodo’s incredible four-day
deal and get the Magic SIM™ $39.90 Unlimited Starter Pack for just $9!…"

    • Yeah that's weird, maybe you're supposed to be a broadband or electricity customer. However my friend who is neither reported buying it.

    • i'm sure dodo would be happy to get any new customers they can

      • Yeah, probably clever viral marketing.

  • Looks like a great deal IF activation delay period is reasonable.
Am committed elsewhere at the mo but want to try.

  • REP are we able to get a micro-sim instead of a normal sim and also the international calling, what counties are included in this offer under the 100 minutes of calling.

    • Click the ads then click buy then select rate, the country that highlighted can be use for that 100 minutes

      • Ah ok, thanks mate. As for micro sim would I have to cut it?

        • Yeah i think so

        • The customer support person confirmed that the SIM shipped can be broken off into a micro SIM (like the one shown in the image in the link for this deal).

        • +1

All SIMs are Dual Punch. This means they can be either a Standard SIM, or a Micro SIM

  • …is the website down? getting timeouts

  • …meh… optus network issues atm with me..sites probably ok

  • International SMS: 35c

    How is this charged?
Is this above the $9 (or $40)?

    • I suspect that any charges not covered under the national unlimited, 100 mins intl, and data allowance have to be paid for separately, just as you would on the full cost plan. So without putting some money for these services, you just can't use them.

      • +1

        That is correct.
You would have to add additional money to the prepaid account to use the services not included.

  • could someone confirm the sim card expiry date plz?

  • $9 got one

  • If you use chrome as your browser you might not be able to open the site with the offer properly. (I tried in vain until I checked with Int.Explorer and Voila.. it worked.

  • the bonus 5gb is for the first recharge

"This includes 5GB data (plus bonus 5GB on the first recharge ) and 100 minutes of international calls to 50 destinations"

    • The third page or so says that the 5GB bonus comes with the special starter pack.

    • Really?
So you are swaying you need to buy the starter pack @9 whch only includes 5GB, then after the month is up, recharge @$39 to get the extra 5GB?

      • +1

No, you only get the 5GB bonus (ie. 10GB total) on the first month (ie initial purchase).
From there, you can choose to recharge on the unlimited offer at $39.90, or continue PAYG.

  • @AdrianDodo:

Thanks for answering all the questions re this but one more:

Do you know of any way to delay or save the activation with these? I need at least a month to get clear of my current plan. No point buying at the moment because I'd end up with two concurrent plans.

So how can I purchase but not be forced to activate within in a week?

    • +1

      Hi King
(had to create another account, as only allowed 5 comments in 24 hours… )

You have 30 days to activate the service.

      • Thanks for making the effort to re-register :)
…buuuut others in this thread were told by calling Dodo today that the SIM would be automatically activated within a week of sending.

        Which is definitely correct please?

Want to grab some but now I'm confused.

        • +2

          Definitely 30 days.

        • +3

omg, i got trick with your customer service today, next time can you tell your marketing department do their job properly, no clear term and condition, it is a good deal but people doubt because so many information conflicted each other.

        • When does the porting start though? If we choose to transfer an existing number, will it port only when we activate (say 30 days later) it? thanks!

        • when i called today, the ops told me, they will contact the current provider, if the current provider confirm the number still active then they start the porting process and issue a new simcard with that number, listen what he told me make me scare to port my number :)

        • thanks joanna. looks like i have to give this a miss then (current plan doesn't expire till a month later).

        • +2

          Hi joannatan,

When porting a number, we do the following
          1. Customer (you) signs up
          2. We verify the details the customer has provided with the current provider of the porting service
          3. We send the customer out a SIM
          4. Once confirmed the customer has the SIM, we start the porting process

Ports must be completed WITHIN 30 days of signing up. (ie. not start on the 30th day)
Also, please bear in mind if you have a contract with your current provider, you may be charged for leaving that service.

Hope this makes things a bit clearer.

        • mate, i wish i have talked with you today rather than talked with 2 idiots in your company today. sorry being sarcastic, but they are really idiots.

        • Thanks for the clarification.
