Also saw this on Microsoft eBay page. The listing says the price was $4199 and will come down to $1919.20 after applying SAVFAV20.

Honestly not sure if this is a good deal or not because I'm not a laptop gamer, but massive discount from the "was" price

    • fingers crossed. did you purchase?

      • I had the 3070ti one in my cart but it went OOS as I was trying to checkout :(

        • that sucks

  • Mine just arrived

    • mine isn't even out for delivery, but coming today. how is everything?

scratch that, just arrived as well

  • checked my system both plugged in and on battery, so far everything is OK (marked with * issues I've seen on previous Blade 17 I had - 10th gen Intel and 2080S)

    • fans properly ramp up with load on AC power
    • no screen flicker on battery power*
    • no static in audio playback on battery power*
    • all keys work fine
    • facial recognition works fine
    • no deformation to any part of the body
    • no noticeable backlight bleeding or hot or dead pixels on the panel
    • USB ports work (A and C)
    • Wifi works fine
    • SD card slot works fine

what else do you suggest I check

one thing I am not happy about is that I can't use any of my Chroma Studio profiles from the old Blade 17, even though the keyboard is the same

    • lol, you really need to check so many things for a brand new laptop? Razer build quality really can be a headache.

      • +2

can't help it, used to be a laptop technician

also the QA was specifically raised as an issue by people in this thread, so I am doing my part

    • +1

added my own 2nd NVMe, and my Kingston Fury RAM (20-22-22-42), everything is working fine so far. maybe the screen is a tad too sharp, 300hz panel on my previous laptop was a bit more smooth, but it's a good thing I reckon

gaming test coming up later today

      • I'd be curious how it handles external monitors over thunderbolt (and the graphic switching situation). I'm on a laptop that had two miniDPs connected to the graphics card and it's served my purposes great (about 5 yrs old now though)

        • can't confirm that use case for you, no suitable hardware at hand

      • +1

gaming test (Control) went fine. doesn't get very hot or loud on balanced, in dx11 mode on High preset I get around 80fps, in dx12 mode with DLSS around 110fps (this is with mux switch set yo discrete only). slightly less on Optimus

        after gaming cools down quickly

Just got the 3070ti version today! How do I go about testing to see if I’ve got a good unit when it arrives? I’m a noob to testing etc.

          • +2

            @RegentHoney: sure!

            1. check there's no damage to: packaging; outside of the laptob body; ports; screen and keyboard / touchpad. check that label on the packaging matches the model that you bought
            2. check that power brick is operational. plug laptop in
            3. turn on and go through the initial windows setup (pay attention to Windows Hello setup step, check that camera works fine, and connect to your home Wi-Fi to check that wi-fi works)
            4. once logged in for the first time, take any USB device (flash drive will do) and check that every USB port works
            5. if you have a USB-C drive, or some other USB-C device, check that USB-C port works
            6. Check HDMI port in the same manner, plug it into a monitor or a TV for a minute. unplug when done
            7. play some audio file or YouTube video, check that speakers are operational
            8. open notepad app and check that every keyboard key is working
            9. try 2 and 3 finger gestures on trackpad
            10. if you have Ethernet cable, try plugging laptop into home router via Ethernet, check Ethernet port
            11. (there are better ways to do that, but this is also good) open Paint, make the canvas larger than your screen and fill it with black. check that there are no hot pixels (stay bright when everything else is black). now fill with white, check for any dead pixels (they stay black when everything is white). better ways: have a black or white image full screen
            12. download something like HWInfo or CPU-Z, run it and check that specs match what you bought (CPU, GPU, SSD, RAM, screen resolution)
            13. install and play a performance intensive 3D game to check stability of system under load (Control, Ghostrunner, anything else you have lying around, Borderlands 3, Far Cry 5 etc), make sure you can play without crashing for more than 25 minutes, that cooling system works appropriately (laptop doesn't get overly hot, all fans spin, and system cools down properly once finished)

            That's the basic test

          • @RegentHoney: Is that the Blade 15 QHD 240 one?

            • +1

              @bboybra: Yeah the 3070ti model

              • @RegentHoney: Have they ended up shipping yours yet? I made an order too it seems it’s come back a few times since the 13th.

                • +1

@bboybra: Mine hasn’t been shipped yet but I’m assuming its cause I purchased on weekend so allowing few business days.

                  • +1

@RegentHoney: Ah fair, if you could lmk when urs ships aha would appreciate it <3 will be travelling soon so hopefully I can take this beast with me. My old blade is battery-less so not much of a laptop anymore, but very light I must say hehe.

                    • @bboybra: Haha will do. I bought mine on the 13th also. First Razer product for me here, hoping the quality control was good this time lol

                      • @RegentHoney: I can say from the 2017 blade I am soon retiring, other than the battery bloat last year it was quite a machine. I honestly wasn’t treating it too well in 2020-21 and it was on ac power not shutdown in direct sunlight for over 6 months so I kinda saw the bloat as a bit of my fault. I think the extra warranty razer is providing for the batteries does show at least they are willing to back their new products for longer which is nice to see :D

                      • @RegentHoney: My order just cancelled :(

                        • @bboybra: Sameeee :(

                          • @RegentHoney: it's showing back in stock now (3070Ti). what's going on?

                            • @shabaka: I don’t understand what’s wrong. Why did they cancel my order if there’s still
                              quite a bit of stock?

                              • @RegentHoney: I am as confused as you are, mate. there are a dozen orders placed today, and still 6 in stock

                                • @shabaka: It’s so frustrating, they couldn’t even give me a clear answer as to why my order was cancelled. I can’t even place an order again cause I have to wait for my refund to process :|

                                  • @RegentHoney: just use different credit card? or use paypal and link to bank account for direct debit

                                    • @CyberMurning: I can’t cause I don’t have another spare 3k lol. Afterpay also doesn’t work on this order and I don’t think it accepts PayPal payment in parts.

                                      • @RegentHoney: And my order just got cancelled too. Goddamnit.

                                        • @Tregetour: of coz, they now asking for AU $5,250.00

                                          • @kaikor: I’m tempted to buy one for that full price just to see if it arrives. My silly mind has me somehow winning some landmark case against them for improper conduct & getting the laptop for free.

Reality is it’ll probably not arrive and or, I’ll be stuck $2k extra out of pocket.

Got mine today. Seems to be in order. Initial thoughts - keyboard is kinda shite. And where the cutout is near the touchpad to open the screen, its SUPER sharp on the edges near your wrists. Annoying.

    See how we go!

    • +1

haha called razer for a reason mate

I know, it's a but of a nuisance. I got used to it however, had another 17 Pro last year, identical design

      • hah, super annoying.

I've also never hit capslock that many times in my life.. weird keyboard.

        • yes, Razer keyboards.. don't get me started. it just feels awkward

but same thing, I got used to it so much last time around

  • anyone else keen to share their Blade 17 experience? quality good?

    • And yours so far so good? nothing like the previous gen issues? everything runs butter smooth? No more finger prints? Next round of deal I might want one if Razer did improve their quality.

      • yes I can't fault mine, knock wood

everything is butter smooth, cooling is solid, gaming is solid, build quality is stellar, keyboard is familiar (I had a Blade 17 Pro before), fingerprints are lot more manageable, screen is magnificent
