Waiting for someone to confirm this is good value for money.

    • +1

Me too lol, I've got no clue about gaming computers

    • +7

def not worth the 4k rrp price

    • +2

      That's an amazing price!

I bought a Razer 15 with those same specs for $2999 before EOFY, and that was already with a decent discount.

    • only 3 units left, I guess we'll find out soon

  • +6

I got the qhd 144hz one for 2.2k, keyboard light died after a few hrs and I returned it. Great build quality, good 3060 performance, charge via USBC, and TB4. A lot of little issues though, like not remembering which monitor to wake up to, poor battery life, not great Mux switch design, loud fan compared to other similar specs laptops, and odd keyboard position. It wasn't a good productivity laptop for me and I wouldn't recommend this since you can get better gaming or productivity laptops for similar money or less, unless of course you really want a 17inch laptop.

    • Do you reckon Asus TUF A17 R7-6800H/16GB/512GB SSD/RTX3070 for $2.3k is a good deal? I'm close to biting the bullet.

      • +1

That's not bad, but I recall there was a Lenovo Legion 5 pro deal with better mem, storage, and display for the same money. I feel if you just want to keep the laptop plugged in and if you need something right now then its a decent option, but there are better deals out there if you wait for a bit longer.

        • Yeah I’m gutted I missed the Legion deal, that’s why I’ve been hurting to get something haha. I’d play mostly connected to a monitor, just need the portability of a laptop with some decent power cause I travel between my places all the time. Thanks heaps!

          • +2

            @thepurist: https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-5-series/legion-5-gen-7-(15-inch-amd)/82rd005vau?clickid=z1zTLMQobxyIUs5V1lTlXwefUkDys%3AQmTVJ-zk0&cid=au%3Aaffiliate%3A239209%7CDelvu%20Media%20Pty%20Ltd&acid=ww%3Aaffiliate%3Axpv9kh

Not as good as last deal. but better than nothing. Discounted again! You're welcome! lol

            • +2

@Filster83: What a legend! I think you got me now lol. Thank youuuuu

              • @thepurist: But this razer specs is like 3x better. 17" too

                • @CyberMurning: an 11800h 3x better than a 6800h? a 3060 125w 3x better than a 3060 130w?

what is actually 3x better here? the ssd is twice the size and it has a couple inches on the monitor?

              • @thepurist: don't forget the 7% cashback with cashrewards. you'll wait 90 days and maybe not get it in the end, but may as well go for it :P

                • @lulzenberg: Really keen to get it but ships in 3 weeks ;( I’m a bit impatient lol. But still considering

    • +2

I bought 2 of the exact same model as yours 3 weeks ago. $2199 each. One comes with a damaged lid and one comes with a warped IR camera. returned both of them. have you got your refund back? I am still waiting for my refund.

      • +10

Sounds like some serious quality control issues at Razer

        • -1

Gaming laptops suck In general I find, better off lugging around a console and getting a nice 16 inch performance laptop for work movies etc

      • why need 2 ?

      • +1

damn, that's a shame, no refund for me yet as well. They've received my return this week, hopefully the refund is around the corner for us lol
What are you looking to get to replace yours?

        • +1

Hopefully we got refund soon. I bought the Legion 5 Ryzen 6800h RTX 3060 for A$1618. Still on the way.

    • Is there a single gaming laptop with good specs, battery and a quiet fan?

      • +4

quiet fan is impossible for gaming laptops

        • The legion 5 pro is a lot quieter while gaming than other's i've come across, and if you're not gaming on it you barely ever hear the fans spin up. Seems to have some pretty good cooling in there.

      • I ended up getting a Asus Zephyrus G15. Fan noise wise it's really quiet for productivity but loud during gaming as usual (although the Razer fans were loud when I'm on chrome+word). It's been great so far, not as powerful as the Razer but much better for productivity, it's not much of a deal though but I really needed something for work. Legion 5 Pro would've been a decent choice too but I missed it. Those were my top picks cus of their battery life+PD charging

      • depends on what's "good specs", "quiet fan", and "good battery life" for you

with gaming laptops it's all about what you are willing to compromise on to get right the things that are important for you.

        • I guess then I want 60 fps + 1440p performance with little compromises

          • @piston3461: technology isn't quite there yet, but we're getting there

AMD based laptops offer great battery life, and thinner manufacturing process offers more and more performance per watt

    • Humm, that's odd. I thought they were good.

I bought my Razer 15 (same specs, but 15" and 240hz) before EOFY, and haven't had any issues so far.

I use it with a dock (Alogic DX3), with 3 monitors, and they work just fine (with Windows 10, didn't upgrade to 11 yet on this laptop).

  • +1

That's an insane deal, official razer store has it for 4.5k aud

  • +9

Highly recommend buying through Microsoft eBay.
I bought a blade 17 last year through them and then ran into charging port issues after 9 months of use. Razer initially refused to fix the issue but eventually came to the party and offered to fix the issue.
Microsoft, on the other hand, immediately offered me a complete refund of the device, no questions asked. I took the refund as I didn't want to run into any other issues.

The laptop itself was a great device, but unfortunately prone to issues that are frequently mentioned by others.

This is a good deal for a premium device if you want to try your luck on the QA.

    • +2

"This is a good deal for a premium device if you want to try your luck on the QA." I agree with this. it depends on if you get lucky and got a good unit.

      • To be fair though, it really feels like the QA lottery for most windows machines I've bought. The latest I've bought, I got extended warranty. Will see how that goes…

        • What QA lottery brand have you tried so far? I returned the Razer Blade and bought the Legion 5 instead. not sure how is it as it is still on the way.

          • +2

@wen87n: Acer, Asus, Microsoft, Lenovo, Dell, HP, Razer. Not all "gaming" laptops though. We get new laptops at work each year, and rotate the old ones. It's funny as the longest running windows laptop in the office is a Razer 15 from 4 years ago haha. Meanwhile some guys are still rocking 2014 MBPs with updated SSDs and even 2011 MBAs with new SSDs.

    • Is it refund on return or refund and keep it?

      • Refund on return. They provided the return slip.

    • +1

full refund on a 9 months old laptop is a huge win since these thing depreciate in value super fast.

  • seems like a good deal but would prefer 2k display on a 17.3 inch laptop.

  • +17

Terrible shaving experience. Do not recommend.

    • +5

This 360Hz version offers a much a smoother and closer shave lol

  • +3

They also had 2 units of the Razer Blade 15 Adv - 15.6" 240Hz QHD / i7-12800H / RTX 3070 Ti / 16GB / 1TB that went for $3039.20 which was a great price for that particular spec.

    • +1

      OOS :(

    • Wow, that's what I paid for mine (June), but with 11th gen i7 and RTX 3060 :(

  • -5

      minecraft laptop?

      • +7

Looking at the specs, I don’t even know if it could run Minecraft lol

        • +3

2 fps if your lucky 😂

    • +8

      Don't buy e-waste

  • How is it different from the Pro?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/687462

    • +1

same thing. 2021 and 2022 Blade 17 is same level as 17 Pro.

main differences were per key RGB and vapour chamber cooling. this device has both

      • I think the GPU TDP is quite a bit higher in the 2022 version

        • NBC says 160w which is interesting? 2022 also has 12th gen Intel

          • @shabaka: This one is 160W or 130W 3060 ?

            • +2

              @congo: this is 2021 model, 11th gen Intel and 130w 3060

  • +1

not bad. if you want to try your luck with QA, and I am even tempted to do so

out of all Razers, 17 (previously 17 pro) has best cooling. 4 fans (2 at the front, 2 at the back) guarantee air flowing in one direction, keeping keyboard cool and protecting the battery from overheating

plus it has vapour chamber cooling inside

not to mention that high refresh rate FHD panel is right up my alley.

I think it's a good deal, even though QA is spotty so good luck. their support is absolute trash

dealing with MSFT eBay is easy for returns though if need be

value for money it's not stellar, although you are getting 130w 3060 and MUX switch, decent storage and full metal build

keyboard is not for everyone with shallow travel, but Mac and XPS lovers will find themselves right at home.

I previously owned 17 pro with 10th gen i7 and 2080S. it was great machine but had its quirks when running on battery power. I got tired of fumbling with their atrocious support and sold it on. would have kept it if it wasn't getting long in the tooth with new GPU release around the corner at that time

    • This Razer or Asus TUF A17 R7-6800H/16GB/512GB SSD/RTX3070 for $2.3k?

      • +1

        TUF

while the tuf is usually a lower rated brand compared to razer, the specs in them are just too big to ignore

You get 140w 3070 with mux switch, razer blades 3060 pales in comparison

not sure about the panel on the a17 though it can range from good to terrible.

        • +1

Cheers fellas. Tbh I don’t care much about display cause I’ll be playing on a proper monitor 99% of the time anyway. I just need something powerful and where I can take everywhere - currently carrying my ps5 back and forth lol - It’s mostly for fighting games but some others here and there so be nice to get some extra power. I might get the TUF!

          • @thepurist: While the TUF has better specs, you also have to consider that line of laptops not being premium at all. If it was both 1.9k then TUF probably wins, but I wouldn't pay $400 solely on slightly better specs. Actually 140w 3070 is technically much better, but just not much better in terms of price. I believe most companies offer upgrades of the same laptop from a 3060 to 3070 for like $200 or less. Owning a more premium line also makes re-sellability easier and holds much more of its value.

      • what Brrrrt said above basically.

more raw power in Asus, much more capable GPU. however average build, and need to check the specs closely: ports, panel quality, keyboard etc.

with Razer you're paying a lot of brand tax

  • Do a 360hz and walk away

    • why?

      • Do a 360hz 3060 and walk away*

    • Um, do you mean 180?

      • That means you're facing away then so no

  • +3

My advice is if you buy this, sell it when warranty ends like you would a BMW/Audi/Alfa

My blade had the issues of: Battery expanding, HDMI died, 1060 died.. after 2 years, but the laptop itself was really good quality.

    • +1

I second that. I sold mine couple months BEFORE warranty ends to give the buyer a chance to get anything right if there's something they're not happy with. also gives bonus to the device resell value

  • +1

I guess buying Alienware will be a better choice, as Razer so famous with all their issues

    • Just can't find an Alienware X17 at that price lol

      • if you can get your hands on a .edu email somehow you can get I think 22% off with two stackable coupons.

        • For where? Teach me da ways

          • @RegentHoney: Im still in uni so I have my .edu account.

Also I just had another look, it looks like Dell changed their student program, it's now managed through unidays for a flat 20% off.

            • @Brrrrt: Is the 20% off full price items only or clearance as well?

              • +1

@Zacle6: 20% off full price. if you browse Dell website you will see that full price items are priced without discount, like $1899. you can get 20% off those

any discounted items like this G15 model will be priced like this: $1385 save $814 (35% off). you can see that the discount is already more than 20%, if you apply your code to this item, it will remove discount and apply 20% off. since discount is more than 20%, price will go up, not down.

so it's a useful discount to use on full price items and items discounted less than 20%

  • +2

My anecdotal experience with Razer was poor. Had a Blade 14 in 2017, and it ran hot, loud, coil whined, and ultimately suffered GPU failure at 6 months.

  • +3

Good deal for a Razer laptop, not really great deal for the gaming laptop category as a whole.

  • can anyone pls recommend 17 inch gaming laptop? budget is $3k after discount.

  • +2

was oos last night, now one left. either they did a stock count, or someone cancelled

    • Missed out again lol

      • man, how did that happen?

  • +1

Razer no thanks, promised myself to never ever buy anything from them after 2 failed products.

  • Shipped. ETA Monday. See how we go!

    • mine arriving tomorrow. got my testing gloves ready

  • +1

Those who purchased let us know how it goes.
Curious to see how consistent the quality will be.
