People will likely ask whether the RAMs are upgradable so maybe you can put it in the description.
Edit: it is. Sorry I didn’t see it.

    • +3

And perhaps the max video out resolution? Given this is a 6th gen..

      HDMI max. resolution 3840 x 2160 @ 30 Hz

      • -1

        And how is the battery

    • +1

Yes. i3/i5s are dual core till 8 Gen.

  • +3

I run this for years as a daily work driver (except with the i7).
Eventually had to upgrade, but it's a solid machine for the price except for the battery life, which in the last year was terrible.

  • perfect for basic home office work

  • -7

Wow after all the test and time spent they still can sell for 269, must be buying bulk at average $50 each. Amazing.

    • +40

I actually wish I could get them at that price honestly, but no the margin is never that grand. Just want to make sure we can post killer deals as always!

    • +8

My work (big ASX top 50 company) literally just scrap our Dell's when we are done with them afaik… Our IT is horribly managed though, I've got like 4 of my old ones and no one has ever asked for them back.

      • +27

        I'd like them back please

      • @brad1601 but those corporate laptops thry have locked bios, right? So we cant wipe them and install new windows for example? Also when we online im afraid they maybe able to track our house.

      • +10

Talk about sustainable Ewaste, maybe email us and we'd love to contact them!

  • -4

Dell support is beyond useless… Organised a service for my overheating G7. Dell tech left with my system being unusable… seriously useless.

    • +11

You don't seriously expect dell support for a 7 year old device do you? Especially when you only pay a couple of hundred bucks!

      • What are you talking about… The device is barely two years old… I also have extended warranty. The device has been a dudd from day dot… Do you even IT?

    • +3

Sounds like you were left overheating too lol

      • I was beyond furious

    • +1

I had the opposite experience with Dell, for returns process, which is why I bought replacement from them which is good and am was recently browsing their products only because of their good service. That's just my experience though.

  • +4

I have 2 laptop 1 tablet 1 kobo 1 phone but still tempted to buy this

  • Hi @FuseTechAu
I'm on the lookout for a basic laptop for an older person (only for browsing and emails) with a larger FHD screen, say 15" or more.
Any chance you've got something like that coming up? They seem hard to come by.

    • +12

You might be in luck I might have a Lenovo 15.6 or two around, please email through at [email protected] and we'll confirm stock!

      • +2

Awesome! And thanks for your reply in under a minute! :-)

      • Please let me know what type of 15.6 Lenovo you have, I am also interested

        • -1

Would also be keen to know about this for similar reasons to Dacs

  • @FuseTechAu - any more stock of the t480s on the horizon from the deal a few weeks ago?

  • @FuseTechAu Keen on an Thinkpad T470s/480s/490/490s if you come across any.

    • +1

We will have some more stock incoming early next week

      • Fantastic. Any T490 or T490s?

  • Do you guys ever get macs?

    • +3

There are some on the horizon! Hopefully next week I can secure some

  • +6

Please note it is consumer grade laptop with 6th gen dual core with 8 GB RAM.
8th Gen Quad core i5 in Dell Latitude ( non touch) or Lenovo 480s (touch screen) with 16 GB RAM and SSD can be obtained for approx $ 100-150 more from time to time with ebay 20% discounts.

    • Ram upgrades are available as well if you'd like

    • +4

      Yes, I agree.
If you're desperate for a cheap laptop you're not going to get anything better for $269, but if you want something half decent then hold off for another 8th gen Latitude or ThinkPad T.

    • what model laptop and cpu are 8th gen ?

also post some past years posted examples?

$100-150 isn't that much more expensive
and you get new battery and warranty.

the battery on these deals probably not that good

      • +2

Got a Latitude 7390 16gb, 256gb ssd refurb i5 8th gen for $399. Did all the checks. Turns out the battery replaced at the start of this year and goes for 10 hours on wifi doing office work. SSD is a Samsung PM961 nvme (OEM rebrand of 960 EVO) which is better than most of the latest gen stuff because it has dram cache.

With refurb it is a bit of a lottery.

        • where did you buy it from ?

          • @pinkybrain: Australian Computer Traders. That is the other mob that was here. I've seen some 7490s from them for $475. I'd buy one but I don't need one.

            • @netjock: do you have link for that deal or you buy it directly from their site?

              • @pinkybrain: Can't find it from them but try this one? Link

                • @netjock: I bought this one last week, 372 after eBay plus 17% discounts…
The one that got delivered turned out to be 16gb ram, battery at 93% health, 1080p, 8th gen i5. Very happy but didn’t post the deal as there isn’t much stock

  • +5

Just a dash of screen with my bezel, please.

  • USB C charging ?
    \wishlist

  • Would this run Roblox just fine?

    • +2

Pretty sure anything can run Roblox just fine

    • +5

Quite sure a fridge could run Roblox lol.

      • +5

And this is only slightly more functional than a fridge so yes, Roblox it can run

  • +2

Refurbed used whilst sitting on the throne mostly.
Also peanut sauce smeared but wiped off the sauce came from the throne too

  • Is it touch screen laptop?

    • +2

Yeah! It's a 2 in 1 laptop as well so folds into tablet mode

  • +3

    Don't need. But might buy

    • +4

      The OzBargain way.

  • +1

Is the i7 full hd screen

    • +1

      Yep it is!

  • This is decent, I mean my 11 year old Samsung Ultrabook is an old i7 with 8GB RAM and it does the job for work station duties.

I always have like 40 chrome tabs open!

This is a step up and dirt cheap, mine was 2k new.

Solid for people on an extreme budget.

  • Is the i7 worthy of the extra $60?

    • No, it's just 300 mhz faster. Still a dual core CPU. Better off to get 16gb RAM

  • If i order tonight, will it reach Sydney Metro before the 4th of September? would like to get 2

    • +1

I think that's pushing it. I've purchased a computer from them earlier this year. Wasn't in a rush, but they use Aramex, which are a bit of a joke.

    • Not a chance as the 4th is Sun. :-) Regardless and as noted in OP, they don't start shipping until Monday at earliest which is the 5th. Then add a few shipping days, my guess would be 8th at best if coming from Melb and only if shipped on Mon.

  • Would the 16gb and 1tb version be good enough for my kids to play Minecraft and Fortnite?

    • +4

Let's get a few things straight before you order.
For this I am providing information about the laptop in the deal link, not any of the other links.
      1. 1TB (I'm assuming you're meaning SSD not HDD) is storage. These games aren't going to need anywhere near 1TB of storage and unless you think you need that much I wouldn't bother upgrading.
      2. 16GB is your RAM, which should be more than enough to play Minecraft and Fortnite. The minimum is 4GB and recommended specs are 8GB.
      3. The CPU is rather old but it's fine to play these titles. Biggest concern here is dual core.
      4. The GPU in this is Intel Graphics HD 520. This is the bottleneck as it's by far the worst part of the rig. It will run Minecraft fine and should cope with Fortnite on low settings, 720p, 30-35FPS but know this is barely meeting minimum standards.
Strongly recommend you take the savings from the upgrades above and use that money to buy a graphics card on eBay. This will deliver the biggest improvement.
This laptop might not support external graphics cards without massive workarounds, if at all
      5. Please get a mouse. There's no way you can use a trackpad in Fortnite.
      6. If you don't need the portability of a laptop (or the touchscreen), you'll likely find better value in desktops. Graphics cards are also made for desktops which make gaming a lot smoother.
      7. I'm assuming you have an internet setup that can deal with online gaming.

    • +2

Are you buying it as a school laptop to double for light gaming? If so then it will barely run it because with this CPU it can barely do Dota 2, and even then the fan's going to spin itself to a quick death.

I would suggest one of the cheap optiplexes+low profile graphics cards for an affordable gaming pc otherwise.

  • Thanks OP, just pre-ordered one with upgrade to SATA 480 SSD & 16GB RAM.

  • +2

At this point, I wonder if FuseTech is a front for a drug business to launder money.

    Just kidding.

    • +2

Hahaha are we just that good?

      "Hide the money."

      • That's exactly what a drug lord would say 👀👀

  • Any deals on memory sticks

    • If you want some cheap DDR3 or DDR4 refurb ram I could definitely find out for you!

  • So will the i5-6200U cpu in these machines continue in the future to officially support W11 ,TPM and keep getting official updates??

  • Is this coming with windows 11 or 10?

    • 8th gen+ for W11, so W10

      • It says comes with windows 11 tho?!

  • +1

Are these laptops either the i5 or the i7 usb c charger?

    • doubt it. if yes it will be on the spec in red and bold - and probably you will see this as Sold out already :)

  • Dexent deal
My workplace would dump about 50 of our old drafting computers with 6-8 core xeons about 5 years ago. They then replaced half of them with slower quad core i7 machines.

    32gb ram
    High end nvidia quadros

After "cleaning and formatting" they were paid $50 each

Looked up how much the company were selling them for… $500+ (more during covid)

    There's money to be made.

    • And they need to factor in warranties, and getting stuck with old stock they cant clear.
But yes they are a business, not a charity

  • Is the battery replaceable ?

    • +2

      Yeah sure is!

      • maybe he ask if replaceable by normal user without opening case (just like the old laptops, slide a switch then take out battery)

        • Yeah its just unscrewing the back panel, and the battery is held by 3 screws. So its definitely doable, with plenty of guides online as well

  • Good deals! Bought.

  • Can this be purchased in 16gb and more hard drive?

  • +2

Bought from the last fusetech sale on refurbs. Can recommend.

  • +1

    don't buy a laptop without usb c in 2022?
    Op can you confirm?
Are these laptops either the i5 or the i7 usb c charger?

    • -3

Huh, why. What's so special about USB C that it is a must? Laptops work fine with any USB :-) As for power, again, what's wrong with standard power cable.

      • +4

Convienance. Going anywhere with 1 usb c cable is better than a laptop brick.

      • You can use your power bank or your car's cigarette lighter outlet to charge your laptop.

    • -2

Nm. found specs on dell's webdite. These have usb c ports, yes. However, uses a traditional laptop charger. not for me.

      • +2

They don't have USB C ports and only 1 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0. No surprises there being an older GEN NB but certainly not a deal breaker on a $269 NB.
Get your wallet out of you want a NB with USB charging as they tend to be more recent models.

        • Yeah its not exactly something that was common in laptops 8 years ago or anything. I've only just recently got a device that is 100% usb C. Both ports can charge/external display

  • @FuseTechAu can you let us know when Surface are back in stock

    • Can trs be claimed back on these when going over overseas or does it have to be new.

      • i believe as long you have invoice you can.
but hey this is under 300 dolla not sure what is the limit now ?

  • +1

Hey Rep, does this have one single RAM slot?
    If so, and I upgrade, will you do 2 x 8GB or, 1 x 16gb?

    • +1

Great question, hope to see this one answered.

      • +1

I realised I didn't phrase the question too well, but I"m sure he/she/they will get it.
If it has TWO slots, as online figures suggest, then will it be 2 x 8GB or, 1 x 16gb?

  • Pre-order is available now..

What is the point of the 2pm today start time if we can already order beforehand?

Aka what actually happens at 2pm? Is that when the store goes "holy $#|@" we better pull our finger out of our… Ahem and get cracking?"
