$35 Cashback on 12-Month $49 eBay Plus Subscription @ ShopBack (New & Reactivated Subscriptions)

1906

From the store rep:

eBay Plus have updated their terms with us to say that Cashback isn't to be used in conjunction with any other offer, so it's a risk to try and redeem both Cashback and any vouchers offers they're running because whilst it'll likely track they might invalidate the Cashback at a later date, so I'd say use your discretion as to whether you try and stack here.

ShopBack’s Notes:

  • Cashback is calculated based on the Order Value, excluding any GST/Taxes, Delivery Fees, & any amount paid for with Gift Cards.
  • Cashback will track initially at $0.00 and will be uplifted once Annual Subscription has been confirmed.
  • Customers who cancel their Free trial will not be eligible for cashback
  • Monthly eBay Plus Subscriptions are ineligible for cashback
  • Existing eBay Plus Customers will not be eligible for cashback on Sign Ups

DON'Ts

  • Return, Exchange, or Cancel your order, as it will result in partial or fully Rejected Cashback.
  • Use promo codes not listed by ShopBack. This will invalidate cashback.
  • Use any Adblocking Software as this will impact your Cashback Tracking.

I took ebayplus membership in may'22 but never got $49 cashback from shopback.so beware of that when you take this deal now..

    • +1

I got the $49 Cashback from them. Maybe report it?

      • +24

They'll say it's too late and won't pay. You only have 30 days after purchase to claim missing cashback.

I did a booking through booking.com, something I have done many times previously with Cashrewards without any issues.
I did the booking via the Shopback app since they were running a promotion, and my booking confirmation stated "In partnership with Shopback" so I thought it had all tracked correctly.

I noticed a couple of days before the date I was staying that it hadn't actually tracked. I reached out and was told it's too late and they won't investigate, and claiming they can't pay the cashback as there's no proof I purchased through them (even though the click through tracked and the invoice has their logo!)
It's also worth noting that when I reported the issue, it was still within the timeframe that Cashrewards would have investigated and paid the cashback, if the same issue had been experienced with them.

Lost out on a significant amount of cashback, and they've lost my trust. I'm definitely not alone, and based on what I've seen here, they seem to have mysteriously poor tracking during promotions such as this one and their previous boosted cashback for eBay plus.

            @I Smell Pennies:

I'm sorry to hear but honestly you can't blame Shopback if it fails to track and you totally forgot to make a claim despite having a whole month to. It's like going to a retail store, getting overcharged for an item and not realising you were overcharged until a month later

The key aspect of their business is that they track purchases. Not unreasonable to expect to have it tracked properly. It takes weeks for purchases to be confirmed and much harder to track than at the point of sale..

          • @I Smell Pennies: A better analogy would be purchasing an item, the correct price is displayed at checkout but then getting overcharged, like Officeworks did with the S22s.

When you receive an invoice that shows the purchase having occurred 'in partnership with Shopback' there's no reason to think it wouldn't have tracked on Shopbacks end, as it certainly tracked for the retailer.

Hey there BradleyDS2, I remember chatting to you at the time about this and that I escalated this to the merchant as much as humanly possible. As I explained at the time, our Cashback works via affiliate marketing; meaning if the purchase does not track, we don't receive the commission for the purchase making it very hard for us to sustainably grant Cashback. We always do what we can to help get things tracking when they don't work as they ought to, because it's in our best interest for the Cashback to be granted so that you'll keep coming back to shop with us, but there are some limitations to what we can do to help.

I completely understand that your situation was super frustrating, and I'm sorry that I couldn't do more to help at the time, but do note that I haven't given up on chasing this up in case other users were affected by this, particularly given then email you received that gave indication that this had tracked. Thanks for sharing your experience with me, feedback like this is super important to me as I always want to be aware of when things go awry for the community.

If you, or anyone else has issues with tracking, please do reach out as I absolutely am available to help out where I can.

          • +12

@gotyourback: I was asked for proof that the purchase had been done via Shopback. Surely the email from the merchant with the Shopback logo should be adequate as proof it tracked in their system.

I fail to understand why it isn't possible to contest with the merchant, providing the email as evidence that it tracked in their system.
The evidence was provided during the window that Cashrewards would still allow disputes, so the retailer should have had avenues for contesting, even at that point in time.

To me, it feels like Shopback was hoping I'd done something wrong, and since it was past the cut-off, never intended to pay out the cashback.

With my issue, you did offer to help, but after I provided proof that the purchase had been done via Shopback, you immediately said there was nothing you could do.

Due to my experience I'm warning others of my experience, as I stated to you that I would do so.

            • -8

@NobalaKoba: Understood, I totally agree that the situation wasn't at all what anyone wanted, and the details you provided to us were passed on and contested, and continue to be so. I'm still chasing this up for you and doing what I can, I'm sorry that I wasn't able to help more at the time.

              • +7

@gotyourback: I look forward to a positive outcome.

Or at least, I wish I could. After over a month of no contact until your message in this thread, I sincerely doubt that I'll get the cashback.

          • +13

@gotyourback: Considering Cashrewards are able to track their purchases with a much higher rate of accuracy, this is clearly a Shopback problem to solve. Replying with a canned "if the purchase does not track, we don't receive the commission" is a BS response to a very well documented and regularly occurring issue within Shopback. If CR can get it right, maybe you should be asking them how they do it, rather than blaming everyone else with "your purchases haven't tracked".

The funny thing is though (for me at least) that the purchases with a tiny % cashback almost always track. Anytime there is an increased or bonus cashback rate, you can be damn sure SB tracking will be more miss than hit when it comes to tracking. I screen-record every step of the purchase (from the time I activate it on the SB website through to order confirmation after payment) just to protect myself when making a claim, knowing full well that Shopback's canned responses and generally disgruntled approach to approving cashbacks that have a higher rate will be the next issue I have to face in getting it approved.

            • -4

@KangaDrew: Thanks for your feedback here. I'm always happy to do what I can, where I can, and happy to pass any and all feedback on to the right people. I'm not trying to blame anyone for anything, I'm just letting people know what the limitations were for me in this particular instance.

              • @gotyourback: For me its tracked but got rejected. I checked just now and don't know why its rejected. Could you please check it?

                • @bargain4all: Yep, I've got a few DMs to get through but will respond to your by the end of the day.

        • +4

Once you asked missing cashback… you will get this email after couple of days…
          "
Thank you for submitting a missing cashback claim.

We have appealed this missing cashback claim with the merchant and found that the merchant has deemed ShopBack ineligible to earn commissions on this transaction which results in us being unable to pass the cashback along to you.

ShopBack awards cashback on your transactions on the basis that the merchant attributes your order to ShopBack and pays us a commission, they are the deciding party on a sale being attributed to ShopBack.

There are quite a few reasons why these orders may not be attributed to ShopBack. This includes:

If a user clicks on a Honey, Cashrewards, or another chrome extension after clicking from ShopBack
If other web pages (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional/discount sites) or web browsers are opened after clicking through ShopBack
Clicking through to another page from a banner, pop-up, or advertisement on the store’s webpage whilst shopping
Antivirus/Cleanup or Adblocker applications block or disrupt cashback tracking (Tracking cookies are required to track transaction)
When the order falls under the merchant’s exclusions, including the use of promo codes not listed on ShopBack.
In the meantime, do let me know if there is anything I can do to help or share my best advice on earning cashback. I’d be here to support whenever you need it.

          Regards,
          Team ShopBack
          "

        • +10

Hey all, just a heads up that I've spoken to @BradleyDS2 via DM and we have found that this was resolved by the merchant and the Cashback has since been credited.

Thanks heaps for the honesty and patience with me. DM if anyone else has issues or queries, I'll reply by the end of the day.

        • +3

Yeah, I never use or will trust Shopback anymore after the amount of times they don't track or help investigate cashback rejections. Just sticking with Cashrewards for life. Shopback is too dodgy.

    • +14

I completely forgot about that… And guess what, untracked as well.. WTF.

    • +4

Mine wasn’t tracked initially from the previous deal but the comments from GYB said to send a dm
Took a while for a reply prolly bc had lots of dms but eventually it was tracked and confirmed

    • +6

Mine was tracked but after a while the status changed to rejected. I reported it and still hasn't heard back - the CS said that the partner (EBay) hasn't replied them.

    • +4

I got $40 cash back from previous deal. Looks like it’s $5 less now

      • I didn't get the$40 cash back from previous deal in May

        • I think I had to manually lodge in the request by submitting a screen shot of e-mail about being an eBay plus member. It’s not quite a tax invoice but they accepted it.

    • thats the nature of the cashback! take it as gamble

      • +3

No, it's not a gamble. If they offer a service and fail to honour it, you make a claim.

    • I never got the cashback either!

      • @eatcroissants @Foreveryone @Koipanda @toyapple9 + anyone else that might have been affected; we had some known tracking issues when eBay Plus came on board with us, and I worked to get anyone who reached out have this rectified. Please reach out to me via DM if you haven't already re: your original cashback, I'm happy to help.

        • Thanks mate. I have send you the DM with all details. Looking forward to your assistance on this matter. Thanks

        • Sent you a DM. Thanks!

    • i got $40 confirmed, dont know about $49 back.

thanks for reminding me, totally forgot about this, so just checked.

    • Same here

  • +8

People dont forget the last time collab of eBay and Shopback. Hopefully SB and eBay fully fixed the problem this time. Anyway

LOL how does one manage to get a

Return, Exchange, of eBay plus ?

    • You can return your ebay plus by doing a paypal/credit card dispute on the transaction and they will cancel your membership without other consequences.

      • that's more like cancellation not returning if anything at all. (also that's if eBay cancels it, doubt a user will cancel it or even will be able to cancel it)

  • +3

Balls, I signed up for one month a few days ago to take advantage of the 0% Variable Fees on 5 Sales .

I wonder when this promo ends and whether it stacks with the $20 voucher for annual subscription.

    • It will stack with the $20 voucher for annual subscription

      • +1

The $20 offer page is a promotion specific webpage, while the shopback linked sign up page does not mention $20 offer at all. Did you try and actually get the $20 voucher from this deal?

        • Got it during the last eBay SB collab. so don't see a reason for not getting it this time. Which was $49 CB + ($20 Voucher)

Ya just need to activate SB link and then checkout to eBay plus using the $20 voucher link/banner on the eBay page.

Also last time SB actually put a link on their website a direct tracking link to the $20 voucher page anyway

    • Yo, can you cancel $5 monthly membership and reactivate it anytime you want?

  • +6

nah, I am not going to pay more than $1 for ebay+ membership.

    • but does it still work?

      • Hey hey, updated about the stacks here.

        • uhhhh not sure that my comment was relevant to that…

          • +1

@sp0rk: Lol my bad, trying to get back to everyone too quick I replied to the wrong comment. As you were.

  • +4

here for the comments. Just did my eBay for $50 voucher and $20 voucher two months ago.

    • The monthly $5 off $15 spend was a nice bonus

      • I got cucked today. Got a $5 with min $50 when I am meant to get $5 for $15 min.

  • +1

I had to report the missing tracking for the last promo with $40 cashback, but it ended up going through, so there is hope! 😁

  • Man I renewed last week…

    • And you got your voucher from eBay?

      • +1

I mean I did but cashback should be better than a voucher I’m forced to use at eBay right?

  • +2

Had to report missing cashback last time and wait like 6 months for the cashback to clear. Wouldn't recommend it unless you are happy to pay full price for eBay Plus.

  • +2

no cashback tracked, no $20 voucer….

    • +3

      Tracking isn’t instant
Purchase (Today) —> Tracked In (5 days) —> Claim In (60 days)

If there’s still no sign of the $35 past the 5-day mark, just send a dm to GYB

  • Just out of curiosity, is it possible to activate the $5 monthly membership as many as times we want in the same account to buy something (that is worth to buy with the plus membership which has more than $5 profit) and cancel it immediately? For me, if it is possible, I think that way is cheaper as I'm not a frequent ebay shopper.

    • Monthly subs will always be there to re-signup at anytime but the cashback won’t be confirmed

      • +1

Thanks. Fair enough about the cashback. I was just wondering only about the advantage that could get only through the item purchase

  • any word on offer expiry? The row for "Get access to exclusive offers with eBay Plus membership" lasts until 15/9/2022 but unsure if that's for the actual membership

    • Usually upsized cashback promo like this lasts for a day
Maybe @gotyourback can give a more definitive answer on the expiry?

      • @fivebucksisfivebucks this is currently scheduled to end on the 15th, so likely will run until then, but they can change their end date depending on a few factors so there's a small chance it may be extended or end slightly early. Will update here if I hear anything otherwise!

  • +3

Shopback tracked but rejected my eBay plus subscription. So I've lost trust with them, as well. Burned a few too many times.

    • Hey mate, please do reach out to me via DM, we had some known tracking issues with this promo originally so I'm happy to do what I can.

  • My eBay Plus is set to automatically renew on 9/9/22. Can I use this deal somehow?

    • +1

Cancel the auto-renewal. Then resubscribe on the 10th.

Typically ebay will offer you a $20 voucher when you attempt to cancel the auto-renewal anyway.

  • how to cancel ebay plus? looks like there is no cancel button any more….And i also couldn’t find the button to cancel auto renew. did they removed both button?

    • If you see a membership end date and no other options you've already cancelled, but your existing sub hasn't finished yet.

  • "Existing eBay Plus Customers will not be eligible for cashback on Sign Ups"
Does this mean I can't use my account which previously had an ebay plus annual sub that expired 6 months ago?

    • Eligible to "New & Reactivated Subscriptions"

You can, as long as it isn't active now.

  • +3

I joined shopback and got dudded 3x plus the tracking was never tracking for me it always took a week. I cannot trust them, I closed the account. Hopefully many others do better. Cashrewards track absolutely immediately and so I'm staying with them. Hoping this deal comes to CR.

    • +1

Hey mate, sorry to hear you've lost trust here, if you ever wanted any help you're always welcome to reach out to me via DM, I'm happy to chase things up for the OzB community.

  • +1

If I cancel my eBay Plus membership renewal will I continue to get benefits till the end date? Thanks.

    • From what we've been told, this voucher offer was no longer live, so I'm checking in with eBay Plus to see what the go is.

      • From what i've seen, it's live, but it doesn't pop up all the time while browsing ebay.

        • Hey hey, got the updated info here.

  • I still have the free trial and seems like I can't buy a membership until the 30 day free trial is over.

Does anyone know how to skip a way to skip the trial?

    • Guess I lucked out this time

  • +2

My cashback from last time was approved, but it took a lot of hassle to get to that point. In my opinion it's not worth the time to get cashback for this.

  • +2

The real question though is… why would you want ebay Plus. I bought it and the only deals I see are some second rate deals on bulk products and "sales" on cheapo third party brand junk. I don't buy gym equipment or big appliances so maybe the savings are there but the only worth I've gotten out of ebay plus is $5 off every month for my junk purchases like cheapo mousepads.

    Just get amazon prime

  • Serious question. I took up ebay plus from the last deal but what deals have people come across?

I haven't found much myself so wanted to see what your experiences are like?

    • Buying Gunpla has worked out for me and pre love items with free shipping covered by eBay.

    • Mainly second hand items/collectibles. My purchase history shows about 75 purchases this year, but only a few would have been available on Amazon and the ones that were are heavily discounted Plus items, like SD cards.

eBay is definitely not for everyone. eBay plus saves me money (apparently $300+ since May) but it still sucks and I wouldn't pay $50 for it as I don't want to support them locking discounts behind a paywall..

  • no need to gamble with cashback, there was a certain loophole/tricks which involved 2 offers and we end up getting like $1 profit for joining a year - cant remember the threads here…. anyone bookmarked them ?

Just tried to cancel my eBay subscription and was given $30 credit if I change my mind and stay on with them. My subscription was going to end in October. Given the comments about the hassle of shopback's tracking - this might be the easier alternative as others have suggested.
