Best of luck. Hopefully they have a different department looking after support than their business hub support..

this doesn't get your approval stamp?

      • +8

must've been lost in the post i guess?

        • +2

I doubt they can deliver what they are promising.

  • +7

Better off going to Superloop or Launtel

  • +1

    typo, 1000/50, not 1000/500

    • yeah, thanks

  • +2

I just signed up to leaptel 500mbs down $109

    isn't this aussiebroadband white label?

    • +1

It's somebody white label for sure.

    • +3

I’d like to know as well.

As long as they are not using Vocus, worth a try I guess.

      • whats the go with Vocus?

    • Unconfirmed however those speeds are the same as what Aussie BB offers.

    • +2

I just spoke to chat they said it was Optus?
The guy said it was the same as their mobile offering.

    • Looks very similar to AGL Internet, so my best guess would be Southern Phone (wholly owned by AGL).

      I miss Dingo Blue.

  • It’s 1000/50 not 1000/500 by the way.

I thought it sounded to good for that upload speed lol.

    • lol. i typed it in, silly website didn't let copy.. fixed, cheers

    12/1 Mbps $40.50/Month

Half the speed of ADSL at twice the cost ?

    • +10

Growing up I believed the future would be cheaper, better, faster. Apparently the future can't, be, f***ed what I thought and delights in kicking sand in my face at the beach while stealing my wallet.

      • I'm paying less for a 50/20 connection in 2022 than I paid for dial-up in 1999. What other utility costs the less than it did 20+ years ago?

        • I'm paying less for a 50/20 connection in 2022 than I paid for dial-up in 1999

Is this because phone line + ADSL > NBN 50/20 ? If so, you've lost the phone line capability.

      • Agree with you, especially if I look at friends across the ditch.

It is a matter of perspective though. Large parts of United States have it a lot worse than us. The US government gives funding to the telcos with the promises of laying fibre. But somehow they were able to take the money and do nothing.

NBN is surely not as efficient as it could be but it's not quite the bottom of the heap either.

    • Shut up and take my money.

  • 250/25 200Mbps $93 First 6 Months

    I'm paying $83 for first 12 Months

    No deal.

    • jv, you obviously are always on the sharpest deal (and words).. :)))

  • +8

Imagine having 1000/50 NBN speed and 100 kbps customer support speed.

  • +4

    1000/50 250Mbps That's horrible.

    • That's a usual fine print, as the Gigabit NBN plans providers do not have a consistent avg rated speed rating yet, unlike any 100 Mbps plans. You will usually get better speeds than 250

      • Im with Launtel 1000/50 and there advertised average evening speeds is the same as Aussie broadband at 600mbps and i get above that normally around 800mbps during peak.
Its a weirdly low speed to advertise, for a price that crappy outside of the initial 6 months.

        • And that's likely limited by your hardware, not the connection.

          • @vodamerc: That's the lowest speed you can expect during peak hours, anything above that means you're getting above average speeds which also means they can provide a shitty connection during peak hours and get away with it cause that's what they advertise.

"average evening speeds" has nothing to do with your personal hardware only what they can deliver.

            • @Axelstrife: I'm referring to your 800mbps peak test.

              • @vodamerc: That's wired Ethernet, possibly get a little higher at the time but that would require changing from a 1gigabit network to something higher like 2.5gigabit.

                • +2

@Axelstrife: Yeah but depending on your router it could still be bottlenecking even Ethernet, very CPU sensitive at that speed. Plug direct into the NTD to get a true speed indication

  • Can someone please point out which department of Aust Post actually works for customers?

  • +7

fyi cg-nat, not static ip address provided

    Section 2.5

  • +1

    I didn't know 75/10 was ever an option 😆😆
Learn something new every day 😊

    • +1

lol same and its the same price as 50/20? lol wut?

      • Less 10Mbps upload speed.

So kinda crappy.. for those old granny photos or younger kids photos.

        • +1

I prefer higher download speeds than upload speeds. I rarely upload stuff anyway.

    • +1

It's a special ABB cut down (capped) version of 100/40.

      Not an official NBN Speed.

  • +1

Hope it's not powered by parcel post.
Mbps - Misplaced Bytes Per Second?

    • +3

Haha. They could end up delivering your bytes to your neighbors by accident :)

  • 30% off from more telecom is better deal

  • +3

I'm sorry but what the fk is aus post broadband. These guys deliver parcels. And they don't even do that properly

    • +1

      Reselling ABB service

      • +2

Is this confirmed? I know Origin is backed by Aussie Broadband.

      • +1

are you sure about this? couldn't find this info anywhere?

    • +1

Why eff up one thing. When you can eff up two?

  • Major downside is having to pay your bills in a post office

  • +6

Average latency: 2-5 business days, with packet tracking

  • +9

All packets get routed through Chullora, sometimes twice!

    • Oh been there. Its like a game of pass the parcel.

  • Does anyone if you need to configure the username/password through the modem/router (Spintel, TPG), or just works straightaway (Kogan, Superloop)? I forgot the technical term for it.

    • The protocols are PPPoE (username and password) and IPoE (connects automatically). The FAQ says Aus Post use IPoE.

  • Is anyone better that Aussie Broadband for fixed wireless NBN? Looking to change but only if it's better value and service

    • +1

You will get better service typically with Aussie Broadband, plus a bunch of others like Superloop and Spintel. Have only been a Spintel customer on FTTN and it was a good experience dealing with them; can't comment much for the others.

  • They will block all parcel tracking websites

  • +1

Like their parcel delivery service, all other websites will slow to a crawl other than Amazon

  • Timeout error your data packet got delivered to wrong address

    • Timeout error you data packet aka a pigeon carrying an sdcard strapped to its leg. Got shot down.

  • +2

Interesting; isn't auspost completely owned by the Australian government? So this is NBN (alsob wholly owned by the government) being resold by a government agency… Not against the idea as such, but would have thought some capitalists would be in conniptions at this idea

  • Ahh Australia Post… I get it, there's not much profit in postal services, but could you just give it a rest? Who in their right mind would subscribe to NBN with Australia Post of all people?

    • +1

You see. When it cones to signing up to nbn. Auspost just leaps at me.

Not telstra or optus. But auspost.

      /s

  • I changed from Aussie Broadband to Superloop 12 months ago on FTTP. It was super easy (went to the 2nd node), can i just as easily switch to a third provider?

  • I wonder how many packets will be lost forever

  • +2

I signed up for this from Spintel. We were having pretty average service with Spintel in North Sydney and our 6mth discount had run out. It took a while to get Auspost activated as I gave them my Amex, which they couldn’t end up taking. Updating payment details plus a long weekend meant we were without internet for a few days (I cancelled Spintel after signing up to Auspost). To their credit, the Auspost call centre were great, got through right away and after I called Monday they confirmed the new Visa card details had not actually updated after I submitted the form and they asked me to do it again and made sure it was updated. 12 or so hrs later the first transaction came out and about 12 hrs after that the nbn activation finished. I think this service is just new and they are getting through some teething issues. Also you need to sign up on Chrome. Safari on my Mac and iPhone did not work. Also Brave (Chrome based) did not work. Only one of the ‘enter address’ buttons worked so you have to click around the site abit to start building an order.

For those wondering which nbn service they are using, on Speedtest.net and whatismyisp.com our ISP is ‘B2B Wholesale’ not sure what that means.

  • Hey all
I've signed up in the past few days, was connected in 20 mins.
Service is good - however, every webpage I load, it takes about 5 seconds to start to load.
This is on multiple devices - phones, tvs, tablets etc.
    Any ideas why?

It is even so slow, that when I load more secure connections, like banks - they time out and wont let me in and each time I need to re-authenticate the device. Painful.
I'm using a Telstra smart modem gen 3 as the router
    TIA

    • Was this FTTN or FTTP/other. I received the activation email last night, but my router hasn't been connecting (despite my UNID port being lit).

Awaiting email back from them, I'm out all day so no rush

  • +1

Isn't this promo supposed to by the end of today? Can't see it mentioned anywhere on their website.

    • +1

Yeah, so annoying. I was waiting until the last minute as well (advertised as the 9th).
I spoke with customer support this morning and they said it finished yesterday and refused to give me a one-off code.
      Australia Post… I should've expected as much…
