[eBay Plus] 0% Variable Fees on 3 Sales Per Month by Eligible Sellers @ eBay (Activation Required)

2780

The next round of free FVF for eBay Plus Members starting in a few days :)

Seems to be an ongoing thing now based on the terms, 3 items per month.

Based on the previous deal terms, this doesn't seem targeted an should be open to all eBay Plus members once the activation link / accept offer is active. There are no changes to the wording of the terms from the previous deal in terms of function, it seems to be an ongoing promo for eBay Plus.

When does the promotion run?

  • The promotion runs from 00:00 (AEST) on 2 October 2022 and will be available for a limited time only, for as long as advertised on the eBay.com.au site (“Promotion Period”).
  • The promotion resets every 30 days starting 2 October 2022 until the end of the Promotion Period (each referred to as a "Cycle").

What is the Promotion?

The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers, who have activated this promotion in accordance with these terms, to 0% variable fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined on eBay.com.au) on 3 sales per Cycle on Eligible Listings.

“Eligible Listings” means item listings that are:

  • newly listed on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period (i.e. they cannot be relisted items through ‘Good ‘til Cancelled (GTC) or auto-renewal);
  • in multi-quantity or single quantity fixed price or auction format only; and
  • not listed in one of the Excluded Categories (as defined below).

The variable fees will be discounted directly from the eBay seller fees applicable to the Eligible Listings when they are sold.
This promotion only applies to the variable fees on Eligible Listings that are sold during the Promotion Period.
eBay reserves the right to cancel or change the offer at any time.

What exclusions apply?

  • Items listed in the following categories are excluded from the Promotion (“Excluded Categories”): Websites & Businesses for Sale (11759), Aircraft (63676), Boats (26429), Caravans, Motorhomes (32633), Cars (29690), Motorcycles (32073), Trucks, Commercial Vehicles (6049), Real Estate (10542), Services (316), Flights (3253), Tickets (1305), Travel (3252), Gift Cards (172009). These Excluded Categories are in addition to any listings or categories restricted by eBay's prohibited and restricted items policies.
  • The Promotion only applies to variable fees (a component of your Final Value Fees). For the avoidance of doubt, the Promotion does not apply to the $0.30 (incl GST) fixed order fee for non-store subscribers (or otherwise have registered for a tax exempt status with eBay) or $0.33 fixed order fee (incl GST) for store subscribers, fees for optional features or services (including Feature Fees), international selling fees or any other fees set out at eBay.com.au, as varied from time to time. See our help pages on Selling fees without an eBay Store, eBay Stores selling fees, eBay Stores fees for registered businesses, as applicable, for more information
  • Eligible Listings will only receive the 0% variable fees until the listing renews, whether by auto-renewal or because the listing is GTC. After this, standard eBay fees will apply.

As always, enjoy :)

What's the link to accept (ie to see if eligible)?

    • +1

It's not live yet, most likely will pop up either in the next few days or once the offer goes live.

      • Ah sorry. Thanks

        • Ive never sold anything on ebay before however considering throwing a computer case up to maximise my audience.

What fees are applicable on a $200 item?

          • +5

@Daves88: If you sell during this promotion, the max fee you will pay is $0.30. Otherwise, it's usually approx 13-15% on the item value.

            • +5

              @doweyy: 15%!?!?! Outrageous.

              • @B3: It's actually around 20% when you account for the fact they also charge paypal fees and fees on shipping too.

            • +1

@doweyy: If it comes through ill give it a go!

      • any way to get to the offer page ?? or is it targeted??

    • +3

      Finally found it :).
Here is the sign up link: https://www.rsvp.ebay.com.au/rsvp/signup/1008178/JWJ_rExpRqw

      • I signed up to the eBay Plus trial (new member gets $80 voucher),
and I am not eligible for this "0% Variable Fees".

It seems like that link is for targeted accounts only.

Just be careful, ebay are scum. Never, relist your item. For example you didn't sell it, you've cancelled sale to go on, ends up in unsold section. Don't relist that item from unsold section, it will not be considered as a new listing, it will be treated as renewed even though it wasn't automatically renewed by ebay. It still falls under good till cancelled, meaning treated as old unsold item and no final value fee promo will be voided and you will pay full fee. To avoid making this mistake always check in your sellers dashboard what do ebay say your payout will be for that item before your ship it. My advice as a long time eBay buyer, seller, F them whenever you've got a chance as they have no mercy neither, that's why there's more and more word play, dirty play, inclusions, exclusions so you'd f yourself up. F them and don't feel sorry, they don't. Enjoy your sales :)

Look likes it final got to them from their asses to their heads that 14% final fee is too high, no one wants to sell so they have to do something, plus Gumtree isn't ebays any more and before you used to get 2 sales without final fees listing your Gumtree item on eBay.

I agree, I would recommend only ever using the "Sell Similar" option when relisting an item not sold. That way, it gets set as a new listing ID and will be eligible.

Same as wanting to sell multiple of the same item / multi quantity, just set one up and Sell Similar for the rest.

      • +7

Just FYI, I had to contact eBay support to get one of my FVFs refunded (relisted after a deadbeat buyer) and they mentioned to never use either "relist" OR "sell similar" to make sure the promotion applies.

Not sure if that's actually accurate or not, but it's what they told me.

        • +3

That's definitely a fair warning, it's always best to start from scratch for it to definitely work. But I've used Sell Similar for years, and never had to pay a fee :)

Have had issues with relisting, but never Sell Similar.

          • @doweyy: If you have 20 items, you have to delete and list again, Every Month (if the promotion keeps going every month ?) What about the reviews on listings and sellers feedback ?

          • @doweyy: I "sell similar" this week and then just had a chat with eBay Help,
who said "Relist" and "Sell Similars" are counted as using 'Seller Tools',
and therefore NOT Eligible for promotions.

I even pointed out "Sell Similar" generates a new eBay item ID,
but eBay Help says I am mistaken and new listings = manually entering everything in the form again for a new listing.

        • Basically, totally delete it of your account then list is as a new listing, as you would anything else you list for the very first time.

For the record, I too got caught out with this, fkn ridiculous, as the in the ned its the same thing, beside being forced to go through the whole process of listing the item as a new listing.

        • Ebay class both "relist" and "sell similar" as a relisted auction. You definitely need to create a brand new auction for each listing.

          • @rusta2019: I did a “sell similar” yesterday, bought my own item and it counted towards the promo like @doweyy said

            • @I Smell Pennies: Appears to be hit and miss as I had 2 auctions end and Ebay charged me the FVF. They refunded but said it was because I listed using 'Sell Similar'. Who knows…

              • @rusta2019: Chat are more useless than a brick wall.
Sell similar has always worked for me.
                Chat knows nothing

          • @rusta2019: eBay Help told me that "Relist" and "Sell Similars"
are classified as using 'Seller Tools',
and therefore NOT Eligible for promotions.

So, they encouraged me to manually enter everything in the form again,
to be classified as a new listing.

            • +1

@whyisave: Classic Customer service bullshit. Acting like they know when they are 100% wrong,
We have been through this many times in these threads:
              Relist doesn't work.
              Sell similar does.
eBay customer service are just soooooo crap

              • +1

@King Tightarse: I even told them that each of my items have a new eBay item number,
but they were able to tell me which items exactly,
were created from which "Sell Similar" listings.

When they were this precise in their "rejection",
I figured they could be changing all this for 2023 …
…but it's a guess that I don't want to find out, when the items listed are $$$.

At least one thing they confirmed which is,
if items listed during promotion window,
is sold outside of the promotion window,
there's a process where they can credit the FVF.

I had to ask them today because my items listed during promotion window (2022 DEC),
will all sell when promotion window finishes (in 2023 JAN).

    • +1

I got caught out by this but complained and they gave me a one off as I missed the bit about relisting. You may get lucky for the once off

    • +2

Yep I had a non-paying bidder on an auction recently and had to re-list it and even though the original listing and the relisting were both posted while I had this promotion active they charged me fees and when I contacted them via chat they refused to credit them basically saying too bad here's the T&C's now bugger off!

  • I currently have an item up for a similiar promotion for September on buyitnow. Should I take it down and relist in October?

    • +1

Yes if you have listing you will need to cancel it and put a new listing up.

      • Wait are you sure? Last time around listings that were started while the promo was active still got the freebie.

        • +1

If the promo ends on say 30th Sep, midnight, & you list before this time / date, you should be fine for 30 days from the day of listing, even after the promo has ended.

          • +2

@TilacVIP: @TilacVIP Yes I had the same experience, I placed the auction within a day before the cutoff time,
I sold the item about a week after the cutoff time ended and didn't pay any fees.

  • +2

finally something i can use to list big items without ebay eating my profits and that means i could sell slightly cheaper on 3 items.

  • Does the sale item have to be an auction? As GTC seems to be mandatory now when you list an item as buy it now.

    • in multi-quantity or single quantity fixed price or auction format only

What I think it means is that it cant be an auto renewed listing, only the first listing counts.

  • Just want to make sure if this is still correct since Promotion is tracked after item is sold.
For current September promo, if I list tomorrow will it still count if sold later date (like within 30 days)? or does it have to be sold within promo period??

  • +2

Was 5 in September now reduced to 3 in October

    • +3

Well better sell what you have next month before it goes down to 1 in November 😜

    • +1

Yep eBay are very stingy these days

  • nice to know

  • +2

I think I paid off my year's membership in saved fees on the five listings last month. Always happy to get more.

  • What's the best to sell on eBay ?

  • Be careful according to terms and conditions starts October 2nd so don't list until then!

  • +1

A couple of years ago it used to be 0 final fees.

Reading this seems to say there will still be some xx amount charged when you sell an item?

“The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers, who have activated this promotion in accordance with these terms, to 0% variable fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined on eBay.com.au) on 3 sales per Cycle on Eligible Listings.”

    • It’s just the naming convention change of the fees. The fee structure is now Variable Fees + Fixed Fees.

The fixed fee is $0.30 per sale which will be charged regardless of using a promotion, and the variable fee is the normal FVF you’re used to from the past.

    • +2

It's actually better than a couple years ago.

In the old days, it used to be 10% eBay and 3% PayPal (or something like that) - so during a "promotion" the 10% eBay fees get waived, but you would always need to pay the 3% PayPal fees.

Now, with "Managed Payments" eBay takes all the fees and cut PayPal out of it.

So now during a promotion, the entire fee is waived (except for the 30c).

  • Will auction style listings where I accept the best offer be eligible for this promotion?

    • +1

      Worked for me.

  • If I sign up to a monthly eBay Plus membership after this deal goes live, I take it that I will be eligible?

    • +1

That should be fine, as long as you're an active eBay Plus member before pressing / applying the Accept Offer link which will apply it to your account. I believe it won't work otherwise until you have an active eBay Plus membership.

    • I tried taking part of this offer as a non-plus member and I couldn't. I then signed up with the $80 promo and was able to successfully activate this offer. So yes, it should be fine.

  • Pardon my ignorance OP, is this the 12.9% they normally tac on at the end of a sale?

    • +1

      Yes that's correct.

      • Thank you for clarifying :)

    • +2

      actually around 15%

  • Can someone help me - I'm using my 5 listings from September and I keep getting my listings taken from List up to 250,000 Items for FREE Every Month! as opposed to my 5 free offer promotion? How can I change the promotion to the other 1?

    • The Pay $0 Variable Fees on 5 new sales, thanks to eBay Plus. 'remaining number' only reduces once the item is sold.

      • Where can I see this counter? I've activated offer and I'm about to list some stuff, but I can't see anything like that.

        • It now shows up but it says "starts 18th of October" (ie today). Weird. I had already listed my items beforehand, but I deleted and re-listed just in case even though it shouldn't matter as promotion technically started on the 2nd.

  • @doweyy If you have 20 items, you have to delete and list again, Every Month (if the promotion keeps going every month ?) What about the reviews on listings and sellers feedback ?

    • +1

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you would need to delete and re-post them under the promo each month if they don't sell just to be safe.

For the reviews, these shouldn't be affected as they're automatically loaded based on the product linked in the back-end for eBay. The feedback will be unchanged as it's just based on the seller currently feedback, not the item.

  • WTH, you need to be eBay plus member for this ?

  • Assuming you’ll still get charged PayPal fees? :’(

    • No, PayPal isn't a method of receiving money anymore on eBay, it's all managed by eBay as managed payments with no extra fee.

      • Oh wow! Haven’t sold anything on eBay in a while so thanks for the info. I thought I’ve still used PayPal to buy stuff on eBay recently but I could be confusing it with something else.

  • +3

    Where's the link?!

  • Is this live yet?

  • +1

    Still can't accept?

  • Same, bring it on!

  • Muzeeb - are you there?

  • +11

Apologies all, looks like eBay has dropped the ball again on providing a promotion that works as intended. Will mark as upcoming for the moment until they provide the link.

In the meantime, should be able to use this promotion to get one free listing for the moment :)

    • +1

Worked only on one of my accounts (all ebay plus). Thanks though, one is better than none.

      • interesting to know if safe to use same name/addr to register another seller account?

        • Yes

      • Same!

    • Pay 0% Variable Fees on 1 sale this month with eBay Plus

    • Perhaps if everyone here contact Chat support and bombard them about this, there'd be enough pressure on them to fix quicker.

    • +3

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

    • The offer worked for me. Thanks. 3 per month would have been better though

  • +1

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

    • you need ebayplus, but it sounds like (so far) simply having ebay plus doesn't make you eligible, it may really be targeted this time. Need more feedback and perhaps another day

  • +2

only showed on one of my accounts. eBay f#cking up as always

    • Are you referring to the 3 items or 1 item offer?

  • +1

Effing eBay. I signed up for eBay plus just to get this offer and I haven't got the offer.

    • It's not out yet. Relax

      • I am relaxed, but I'm not holding my breath for the free listings. Hopefully I'll get the offer, but otherwise, what's another five bucks for eBay plus considering the thousands of dollars they've leeched from me in fees over the years.

        • Leeched? You're using their platform.

          • +2

@2pro4sho: Thanks, eBay simp. You're correct, but come on. Anyone who's ever sold on eBay knows what money grubbers they are.

            • +5

@Fappo: If they took a 5% flat fee for private sellers it wouldn't be a problem. Current fees are ridiculous

            • -1

              @Fappo: Q_Q harder please.

  • Anyone managed to activate? Can't find it but should be available now according to the T&Cs.

  • Not on mine or husbands. Bloody annoying!!!

  • Nope, not working yet for me either.

  • +1

Im eBay Plus but : "Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only." :(

  • nothing under seller hub - Promotional offers
