    Nice find!

  • +6

According to edge shopping this was selling at $55 until the 24th sept, when it was reduced. It seems $55 is a pretty normal price. Congrats on your first post btw, it's a good deal

    • +3

      Thank you.

Repco shelf price for the 500ml is $51 so I would have thought the 1L would have been a bit more than $55 but either way at $28 is still a good deal.

      • +1

        You did very well

  • +3

What's this like compared to other ceramic coatings, like meguiars hybrid ceramic wax

    • Better. To compare against a good brand, I rate it similar to Carpro Reload.

  • Thanks OP, got one to try. Looking at reviews it seems like a decent price for a decent product.

  • Decent sealant for a great price! I bought the same for $50 from Sparesbox 8 months ago and has been on the cars since Feb, I have topped up just before winter and it's still repelling water. It makes much easier to wash and dry. At this price, I would definitely get another one

  • -5

Probably carcinogenic, but such a small price to pay for an sparkling, easier-to-maintain vehicle

    • +7

Probably, but a lot of things are. Add it to the list.

    • +6

fwiw the sun is carcinogenic too…

      • +3

Great point! I’ll spray on some of this ceramic coating to protect myself

        • +2

shower time would be awesome, you just need to shake off the excess water and it'll all slide off.

    • +1

It can cause pneumoconiosis, but that mainly effects people working with the product or people snorting the product. For the normal user, just be in a well ventilated area (pretty much what you should be with all chemicals)

  • Can this be applied over the top of happy ending as a finishing dry/wipe down spray ?

    • +4

I would remove happy ending with a wash using dishwashing detergent and apply the ceramic coating and reapply the happy ending.. You want the longer lasting coating (the ceramic) as a base, not a coating, otherwise it will come away when the happy ending breaks down.

I expect happy ending will have better bead porn too, so you don't want to miss out on that with an inferior hydrophobic layer.I had this issue using a chemical guys wash and wax on top of happy ending. I had miserable levels of beading haha

      • What dishwashing detergent are you using to remove Happy Ending … I know our US friends say that they use Dawn to remove sealants but I'm not sure what is the equivalent here

        • +2

Any detergent should be fine - I use Morning Fresh and mix it up in a snow cannon before washing

        • +3

It's called Fairy here and you can get Dawn at Costco.

        • +1

Agree with @sparker89. You can use any dish soap that you have atm, just squeeze a little into your pressure washer foam cannon along with water.
          OR
You can use Bowden's Own Orange Agent + Water + Foam/Shampoo for that initial first rinse too for the same impact.

I follow this video from ChrisFixIt or BO's FlowChart.

      • Missed out on the Recharge, so settled for the Offroad at $4 more per bottle.
Is this more comparable to the Bowden's Own Wet Dreams spray, or are the Wet Dreams and Happy Ending more similar, with the Hydrosilex at a completely different stage of detailing?

    • +11

For someone who doesn't know what happy ending is in this context, this conversation (plus the mention of bead porn), is highly confusing.

      • +2

Don't forget to get some leather love and a love glove too

        • +2

As they say: No glove = No love

      • @dust - Let me add that with naked glass, snow job leaves everything feeling fully slick and gives you wet dreams.

        • Try and stick to the conversation , if that's possible

    • +1

Guess next time it will go in a lot easier as well…..

  • +1

Pretty solid product. I wouldn't hesitate buying at this price.

Edit: I personally spend quite a bit on car care stuff. I have Kamikaze ceramic coating and window coating. Then I maintain/top it up with Polish Angel. All very high end stuff.
In saying that, I would have no issues recommending Hydrosilex to friends and family, especially at this price.

    • Any recommendations for a good coating now that the original Kamikaze ISM is discontinued? I coated two cars with it and like the gloss wet look it gives.

      • The Kamikaze ISM v3 is available and probably the best version.
Gyeon MOHS Evo is a fair bit cheaper and very good too. Repco stock Gyeon now, they might be able to order it in for you.

        • Hey you seem pretty clued up about this stuff so I've got a quick question. I had a professional ceramic coating applied at new (by a detailer not through the dealer) and window coating and tints etc - not sure what brand of product they used though. Is this product in the post safe to apply over the coatings to maintain?

I know the description says it can, but just want to check it's safe before ruining it

      • I used ISM 2.0 when it first came out and was taken aback on how difficult it was to apply. Nearly ruined the car with high spots but managed to save it.

ISM 3.0 is out (not sure if its hit Australia yet) and I hear the ease of application is great.

Even better if you layer it on top of 2 layers of Miyabi.

Otherwise for a cheaper option, I hear Nova evo is really good. I just coated my daily with it 2 days ago

  • Got one. Thank you.

  • Can this be used on shower screens?

    • Wouldn't last long against all the shower products.

    • +10

I use car sealants and ceramic sprays in my toilet bowl …. stops the sh#t from sticking

      • +3

Thanks for the thought, I put down toilet paper every time I poop

        • Soft landing, no splash!

      • Please tell me this actually works?

        • Depends how alkaline or acidic your excrement is.

  • Does it really work?

  • seems to be none available for delivery or C&C in Sydney?

    • +1

With Repco you can always select another store in the country and get it delivered

      • thanks - found some in QLD

Got my car ceramic coated with nxtzen graphene ceramic coating and wondering if this can act as a 'top up' ?

    • +2

      From the website

HydroSilex Recharge can be used as a stand-alone product or as a maintenance coating to revitalize an existing ceramic coating.

  • how long do these generally last? for a parked in the garage and another parked outside
I'm still using carnauba wax so it would be nice to move to something that's much quicker but obviously wax is a lot more budget friendly too

    • A good sealant will give you 6 months plus if it's parked outside. If you want something that is even faster to apply do a search for Bowden's Happy Endings

      • would this be comparable to Bowden's happy ending? I actually stocked up a few bottles for my in laws earlier this year when they were $26/bottle (1L)

        • Happy Ending's is applied using a pressure washer so the whole car can be done in a few minutes, this is applied one panel at a time and buffed off so it will take much longer.

I don't know how long Hydrosilex will last compared to Happy Endings but I tried it on a panel of my car after buying it and it is very slick … time will tell I guess

          • @phbk: Hey OP.

My car is ceramic coated with Gtechniq.

Does this process sounds reasonable :

            1.snow foam
            2. Rinse
            3. Two bucket wash
            4. Apply this product (Can I just spray onto wet panel and dry off?)
            5. Rinse
            6. Apply boss gloss after glow using appropriate towels and dry off

  • What is this somebody please tell me

    • Search YouTube for Hydrosilex Recharge will give you the answer

      Anti moisturiser

    • +5

Just hurry up and buy it before it goes out of stock

    • +1

Buy now and research later is the Ozbargain way

  • Do you need to polish your car first or we can use it straight ?

    • +1

You don't have to, but you will get longer protection if you do.

      • -2

        That’s what she said

  • Is offroad version better than Refresh ?

    • I asked the Repco guy when I showed him the price on my phone and all he could say was holy sh@t that is cheap … but had no idea what the difference was

    • I was looking for the same thing and found this:
"HydroSilex Offroad is a ceramic coating
      specifically designed and formulated for
off-road vehicles. The Offroad coating is
based on our flagship hydrosilex Recharge,
which has been tested and improved to be
      more durable and extra slick."

      • Cheers

  • Haa anyone tried this on tiles and glass of a shower cubicle?

  • How this is compare to turtle ceramic spray coating?

  • Welp comes up as not in stock for me checked most of Sydney.

    • use Pincode 4720 to select a store in Qld and then get it shipped to your address.

      • Yeah but then i have to pay for shipping :(

Think i'm going to buy the offroad version it costs a few dollar s more. Wonder if it has better protection?

  • +3

thanks. ordered both delivered. $4.95 delivery is a bargain with current fuel prices and saves time driving way out to the fringes of the metro area

  • Is this somewhat the same as fully slick?

  • +1

Thanks, off-road version in stock at my local.

  • How can I find out my ignition number? Have lost my card

    • Just log in. Same/Same

    • Email works or mobile number

      • For some reason it doesn't automatically add the ignition discount

        • -2

It's on clearance. And heavily discounted. And you want another 5% off that again…

        • Ignition discount showing @4.95 but only says click & collect ( delivery toggle flips back to c & c) I’m not going to take a chance and order at 9.90 - some other poster got - ready at store after ordering/paying fr delivery

  • +1

Ordered 2 with $4.95 delivery fee
    Seems great value
Hope will improve the windscreen rain repelling

  • +3

For those having trouble locating stock…
It took a while but I eventually found the Recharge available for shipping when setting my location to Hamilton, Vic.

  • Totally new to this.. how many do I need for a SUV?

    • +1

1/3 of a 1L bottle was enough for my Prado with 3 coats covering the entire paintwork

  • Looks like it's already out of stock

Lucky I still got a lot of NV NovaJet left..

  • Ordered.
Also, Noob Q, can i continue using armor all car wash and wax after application of the product? or do we have to change to car wash shampoos to protect the coating in future?

  • Beginner question… Can I apply this after I wash the car with Bowden’s Own Wax Wash? Or I’ll need to go another round of dishwashing liquid to get rid of Bowden’s Own Wax Wash properties. Thanks

  • -1

Thanks OP my car dealer offered to do ceramic coating for $2000 for my BMW M3

I will ask my dealer to use this for $50

    • +1
