Bonus $700 Gift Card with Telstra $69 100GB Per Month 24-Month Plan (New/Port-in Customers, in-Store/ Callback) @ JB Hi-Fi

Bonus $700 Gift Card with Telstra $69 100GB Per Month 24-Month Plan (New/Port-in Customers, in-Store/ Callback) @ JB Hi-Fi.

They had this deal back in Sept 2022.

Works out to be $39.83 a month.

There used to be a 12 month plan with $500 gift card but I haven't seen that for ages.

Same deal, can't be with Telstra, boost or Belong.

Currently with Telstra - any easy way to port out and in quickly to take advantage?

    • +5

      Nah, it's a shitstorm.

Their system checks if you've been with Boost/Belong/Telstra in the last 30 days.

I ported to Voda a week and a half ago, and counting down every second until my 30 days are up.

I've actually got a calendar reminder set to "Freedom Day

      • So wait Boost isn't included? Why did I hear/think it was?

        • +2

Yeah no luck if you're a Boost customer.

      • Do you know if Aldi Mobile is also excluded?

        • Honestly didn't even know that Aldi used the Telstra network.

          Not too sure

        • +1

Aldi is fine. Have done it before and porting again tomorrow (contract up today).

Boost and belong are excluded because they are Telstra subsidiaries, not just vmno's like aldi etc.

        • +1

Aldi not included in this restriction criteria

      • oh man…My telstra contract just ran out was thinking doing the in and out trick but gotta wait 30 days now

      • +1

just create a new number and then contact Telstra to add your existing number to the new plan and then cancel the old one.

        • As an existing Telstra customer, I’ve done this by buying an Optus prepaid sim and porting it to the JB Telstra plan minutes after purchase. Then I got Telstra support to transfer my existing number to the new plan and killed off the old one. It took a while because of language barrier challenges, but we got there in the end. This method has worked for me 3 years in a row now.

          • @omega595: Language barriers. So funny. You would assume that an Australian call centre actually understands English

            • @dosada: I wouldn’t recommend, it’s a massive pain and not worth the effort. May as well go with the $40 boost plan for a marginal increase in cost.

      • +1

I made the mistake of porting to Kogan (Optus) to take advantage of the deal last time. In my area Optus and Voda coverage sucks. Next time I’ll port to Woolworths mobile so I stay in Telstra network.

    • I signed up for the last deal 24months / $1.2k giftcard. (This method worked for me, currently am with telstra)

Signed up with a new number then asked Telstra to merge my current service number to my new plan and close my old contract
Make sure your contract is over on you old plan or you may cop a fee for terminating early

    • Just a heads up: The last time I ported out to do this, I used an Optus starter pack on special at Coles.
I was in the Optus system for maybe 15 minutes max in 2019 to take advantage of the offer.
      2022: Email from Optus:
"Optus has been a victim of a cyberattack. As a former Optus customer this has resulted in the disclosure of some of your personal information."

Unfortunately the days of $500gc/12 months are behind us I reckon.

    • +3

we had that on boxing day, it will come around again

      • +2

Boxing day was a long time ago! I don't think its coming back

        • +2

          its only 2.5 months away!

          • @RR88: I got it at eofy incl $700 gc on the Pixel pro….

            • +1

@pointnlarf: $700 gc?? Not on a 12 month plan surely?

Or was it actually $700 towards the pixel pro?

              Two very different deals

    • +2

unless you're dying to drop your current provider might as well wait for at least black friday/ cyber monday

Works out to be $39.83 a month.

    Still a rip off

Of course , you want it for nothing !

"Don't forget to pester the Telstra Chat team for a $10 or $20 monthly Port in Credit.

You gotta be persistent, but you'll normally be offered $10 for the first 12 months, although some say they have been offered $10 for both years.

I never had any luck with it, but a few have mentioned that they were able to get $20 for 12 or 24 months too

    • Likely 10 off for 69 plan and 20 off for 99 plan

      • Could be..

I think success is very hit and miss though

        • Has anyone managed to get in the port in credit?

          • @BlueyDad: I do understand you. To let you know that We’re offering customers on the JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys Mobile Plan $99 who are out of contract a $20 credit for 12 months if they re-contract onto the JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys Mobile Plan $99 for 12 months. Is that okay?

I do understand you. I do not want to give any false promised to you. To let you for $69 plan we are able to give $10 for 12 months. Is that okay?

Those are the two chat messages between myself and Telstra

          • @BlueyDad:

Has anyone managed to get in the port in credit?

            Sheryl in Accounting did.

            • @jv: Trust Sheryl to work her magic to score the credit…

              • @BlueyDad: Yes she excels in Assets.

          • @BlueyDad: Can confirm i got $20 credit applied for 6 months. Said that it was only a 6 month offer but that they would renew it at 6 months. Got it first try. They did offer 10 credit for full 24 months also

            • @Ryman: Got $10 for 24 months on second try

          • @BlueyDad: @BlueyDad Just tried this out and had a $20 credit applied for the next 12 months. Signed up for the JB HIFI $99 deal on Sat for 3 mobile numbers. The discount was applied to all 3 numbers ported across. I did pester them for quite a bit via the live chat until an agent agreed to apply it.

      • "You're welcome. I have checked it and your current plan for your mobile service is JB Hi-Fi & The Good Guys Mobile BYO Plan $99. I just want you to know that you will have to contact JB Hifi and they will be the one to apply your monthly credit on your mobile plan.

Let me know if there's anything else you need. Thank you"

Is all I got back from the Telstra Chat team.

        • They fixed this loophole a while back.

    • +3

The amount of time I wasted on trying to get up to $20 pm, I might as well have just stuck with the $10 for 12 months.

    • Has anyone had any success with this when signing up via Telstra direct? There's no GG or JB within any reasonable distance so I need something that I can sign up for online.

      • Telstra does have similar offers, but no Gift Cards

  • I’m thinking of moving off Boost mobile and get a deal like this. Even though it worked out to be $39/month, but I’ll claim most for tax deductions, so it’s kind of work out around $16/month, so not that bad.

    • you wont get it, boost excluded

      • Yeah, I know. My boost expires on 18/12 this year. Im thinking should I port to Kogan for a month on $2.90 sim now and see if there’s any good deal during Black Friday? Or wait until it’s expires to see what’s available in January.

  • Callback

As in they will do it over the phone now again? Like they were doing during the big lockdowns?
    If so colour me interested.

Waiting in store is always such a ****storm.

  • I use Woolworths Mobile they use the Telstra network I get 22gig per mth which you can bank if you dont use it all for $25 plus I get 10% off of any 1 shop I choose each month at Woolworths so I just do 1 huge shop for $250 stock up on the 1/2 specials and then it pays for itself.

    • I just ported out to Woolies and signal is iffy, tried fixing APN settings and FB is patchy not to mention hotspot 😢

  • They often have the $400 gift card with $69 12mth plan, which works out to be $35.67/mth.

  • @OP how many days you need to wait to get the GC plus when to get in & out

  • Does anyone know if these JB plans allow you to bundle another plan with them (for data sharing etc)?
    Telstra website says:
You can add Bundle Plans if you have at least one service on a: Upfront Mobile Plan Essential, Upfront Mobile Plan Premium or Upfront Mobile Plan Medium, Large or Extra Large plan.
JB don't use these names for their plans, so I'm not sure if they're eligible, even though Telstra's 'Upfront Mobile Plan Essential' seems to be the same as this $69 JB plan.

    • +1

I am pretty sure none of these are applicable to JB plans. Even "adding" an international calling pack is not possible with these plans. The only upside to getting these plans are the gift cards(if you need to buy something from JB)

      • Thanks!

  • Very nice.

How we feeling on the $99 for $1200 tho, think it's coming up soon?

    • I think they had that only a week or two ago

      • Yeah I hesitated and missed out 😭

  • +2

    24mth contract instant no deal

  • if 24mths, gift card should not be less than 900

  • 24 months though…

  • -1

This isn't a very good deal really. Better to wait for like the same deal but with the $1000 gift card or $0 upfront for a $1000+ valued phone

    • It's been $1000 before? Wow.

The regular deal instore is like $500

    • I would rather spend the 300$ and not be on the Vodaphone network. No point saving money if you cant use your phone

    • We’re those bigger gift card deals with a new iPhone? I was told by JB these generally come with Samsung deals

      • Yeah the deals I've seen are $1k off towards a phone. Not $1k gift card

    • They havs this available at the moment with a Samsung S22. Tempted to do it.

      • S22 no good. If it was P7 sure but S22 battery life is shithouse and camera worst than P7 (compared them side by side)

  • mmm i saw this and got excited then saw it was for 2 years, I don't have that much dedication

  • Not a great deal, I didn't get the greatest either the other week but 69/24 months for iPad pro 11 2021 128gb wifi lte is still decent.

  • what optus/voda plans are people tempting swapping to? need a temporary one

    • Just do circle life, they are cheap and allow porting. I was with them for several years but the jbhi $1200 gift card deal was too good to miss

  • Sure it is just a coincidence jbhifi just increased their prices,, (iPad mini just went up $80)

    • You always price match other stores tho

  • Deals like this are precisely why I ported away to another telco (with a sweet deal). Telstra and JB hi-fi are willing to give great deals for new customers but nothing for the loyalty of current customers.

  • No more good GC deal with 12months contract?

I'm moving to Woolworths mobile from Coles mobile next month.

Woolworths mobile is much better isn't it?
I know WM Capped 100Mbps but 90GB for $45, 10% off grocery shop per month, unlimited international call/txt(22 selected destinations) and 500GB data bank.
    I don't need 5G full speed.

    • Just purchased the last $40 starter pack on Tuesday from my local woolies on special for half the price… hoping JB have some better 12 month deals in December

  • I went into JB yesterday and they were only offering 500 gift card for the 24 mth iPhone 14 pro $69 plan.. perhaps 700 does not apply to iPhone deals.

    • The $700 GC deal only started today and finishes on the 26th.

I don't think you can combine deals tho, so whatever the iphone deal was does not apply if you want the $700 gc

      • Yep you are right. The deal started on the 20th

  • Can you port to this if you're on Telstra pre-paid?

    • nope.
Boost, Belong, Telstra don't get bonus

  • Has anyone had luck with Telstra port in Credit?

  • Can you do this multiple times if you have multiple phone numbers? Or is it like once per person?

  • last day of the $700 deal today.

How are we feeling, do we think the $99 for $1200 will be back on next?

  • Nope. The dude I spoke to showed me

    • That's annoying. I was hoping to stack 10% off apple with $1200 giftcars from a $99p/m deal
