Back in my day we just used the kettle!

Pretty common in Asian households for the last 30 years. Yeet hey. Hot water on demand for drinking water and tea.

      • Yeet hey is hot air.

        • Yeah? Drinking hot liquids is the most common method to cure "yeet hay" well the most common symptom associated - a sore throat. Ofcourse, soups and hot teas have better benefits but hot water will do.

          • +2

@Sheng: Your wording sounded like you were referring to yeet hay as hot water.

It will turn into room temperature water dispenser after few weeks

  • 400 – 500mL water per minute

Takes 45 secs to fill a mug?

  • I just use the l'or sublime machine (that was free with pods purchase) without the pod.

It also doubles as a pod coffee machine :D

    • +1

Pod coffee machines are usually not designed to produce boiling water.
"96 degrees Celsius is the ideal water temperature with which to brew any coffee" - some are lower than that, especially at the cup
      Can easily check with thermometer🌡

You don't need boiling water for tea though

        • True, don't need 100C for tea or coffee.
In which case this whole Deal isn't of that much use😉

But 80C max in the cup in my tests of a few pod machines - is too cool.

A $7.50 Kmart kettle does the job & likely far more efficiently.

There are variable temp hot water units. Picked a Kmart one @$23 delivered.

      • I believe you but for me it's not worth spending more money for a machine that will occupy more counter space when I already have a machine that heats water to near boiling / hot enough for tea.

        • -1

In ones I've measured (not yours) it was only around 80C in the cup. Too low for most drinks.

          • @INFIDEL: Yeah I said for me it's not worth it

            • -1

@Chocobros: Electric kettle from Kmart is $7.50. Boils water, rather than gets it hot.

              • @INFIDEL: Look… I get it… You want to buy the l'or sublime off me. But sorry its not for sale. Just gonna have to wait for the next time its posted as a deal

                • -1

@Chocobros: I've got a few free pod machines of my own… They just don't compare temp wise for most hot drink making, except their intended function.

Not available temp control but half price of Kmart PB.

I have a Kmart hot water dispenser.
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/instant-hot-water-dispenser…
It was $69 last month but now $75.
However if you are using afterpay you can activate $10 off on Kmart/spend $75 or more that use pulse rewards(100point needed for activation).

Same as one from a recent Auspost clearance deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/710521

I got it, it's good for the price

  • Nice, been after one of these since my ol' pod coffee thingy started dribbling water everywhere. (And I no longer use coffee pods so it's a bit of waste.)

  • +1

I assume this only heats up what you need and nothing more? My wife fills the jug up to 2L for a cup of tea. Drives me crazy.

    • +2

      Buy her a giant mug

  • Think I will stick to a kettle.

  • Had the Tefal versions 10 yrs ago when I was a tea drinker. Was nice just pushing a button and coming back 5 mins later to a steeped cup of tea.

  • $13 delivery, even for First members? I'm out…
