    • Apple native app is just for Apple TV AFAIK

Why not just use Unified Remote?

  • Is remote desktop software like AnyDesk the only option to control a PC away from home? I suppose Microsoft's Remote Desktop app can't be set up to do that. (FYI, you don't need this proprietary app, just learn how to use the app I mentioned)

Look up VNC, it's the basically the standard when it comes to open source and free desktop control. There'll be a VNC app for any device. It's not as polished as the ones made by for profit companies but it also doesn't serve 3rd party interests before yours.

    • Parsec is great.

  • Downloaded the app today. Thanks so much for sharing OP!

Exactly what I'm needing when doing presentations for work, was almost about to buy an external keyboard/touchpad combo. This seems to do the job. :)

I'm a little concerned with downloading a plug in from the website outside of the app store. This software is legit yeah?

    Cheers.

  • This is great, been using it for ages for HTPC duties.

When I was a kid we had to get off our ass and walk 5 miles uphill in each direction just to turn the dial.

    • Luxury! We had to swim across a crocodile-infested river to get to ours.

      • Are you Modi (Indian PM) ?

  • I've used this app for a few years, works really well.

The problem for me is that I have to trust that the helper-software that I download and install on my Mac outside of the Mac App Store is safe.

The fact that it is not offered via the Mac App Store is likely because it is using functions that Apple won't sanction and I have no idea what this application does beyond what's advertised. The point of the App Store is that you have a level of scrutiny which this Mac application doesn't have.

I'm have read it works well; it's probably perfectly safe, but in a complicated world I have to pass.
