I know..I know….they are inkjets…and companies make money from sellings cartridges. BUT it has got a scanner too….and it's wireless…so IMO it's good for 9 bucks..

The specs don't really say that it's wireless…but i received an email from DELL showing the same price and photo of the printer…and it says it has an built-in 802.11 b/g/n wireless printing. So not sure about that.

EDIT : Those who don't beleive me…check this out : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0Bxkv5bFG68uYRFFDNTZ4Yzh0QVk

    • It was a a bit of a lucky dip. Fortunately I got lucky this time :)

  • Received a Dell V515w RED this morning, not the V525w as i was told on the phone but whatever. it's still better than the V313.

ink level seems to go down pretty fast, i have only printed an alignment and network setup page yet the ink level is at 3/4.

I love the fact it has an SD card slot.

    Setup was pretty easy.

For $9 it is pretty good.

  • Got a confirmation email yesterday for a V515W due for delivery today. $9 well spent - even if just for the ceremony of it haha.

    • +2

the experience of unboxing it was worth $9, lol

  • +1

    Got delivered the v515W.

  • I also got the V515w today, I called up and asked for an upgrade because of the shortage of the original $9 printer. I don't know if I had to do that but I did and now I have a wireless printer for $9 :)

  • just confirmed from the customer service that I would be getting the V525W to be delivered most probably by tomorrow..

    • What kind of questions did you ask them?

They refuse to give me any info at all, after multiple calls.

All they say is, you will get an e-mail eventually and that they have passed on info to "somebody"

      • yep i was assigned a customer service rep who was giving me all the updates..she was sending me a email daily for the update..pretty good customer service !! today she confirmed that I would be getting the V525W tomorrow most probably..but everything was through email only..

        • Damn the 525w looks alot nicer…. I'm getting the 515w delivered tomorrow oh well I really should't be complaining for $9 :)

        • Thanks shaz, just to confirm, you logged a job online with them?

        • after ordering online..i did call them last friday to get the update and they told me the same thing which they told you that someone will contact me through email..and that happnd !! nothing special :-) i would suggest you to wait and call again tomorrow if you dont get email by tomorrow morning..

  • Just received this from dell rep confirming everything :)

    Hi Lazer ,

    Good day!

New update for your replacement order.
The replacement order has been generated and here is new order number for replacement unit : 123456789.
The printer has been replace with model : Dell(TM) V515W Red(TM) All-in-One Printer( Wireless N).

Currently the estimated delivery date for you is 12/7/2012.

Please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected] for any further enquiries.

    • Do we have to call them to get it upgraded?
My order still shows a V313, but delivery date is 6th July which has long past. I've avoided calling them so far just in case they get overloaded with $9 calls, which could discourage them from doing things like this in the future.

      • +2

That might have just earnt you a V725W haha

        Best of luck :)

      • I called them once I received the options to upgrade or get refund after that recieved email that rep was looking after my case and would get back to me.

      • You can email [email protected]

I got a reply saying they will arrange it but didn't mention what model I would get.

    • still not clear that some of us are getting V515W and other's V525W..not sure how they select..may be depends upon the time you ordered it..

      • +3

It is based on looks. :-)

Tham Yu Yee means "thank you very much" in chinglish.

      • low life……..

  • Anyone else in the same position as me? No email, sms or any form of contact from DELL after calling them and selecting option 1.

    • I only emailed them probably 3-4 days ago. No way im waiting on hold for $9. My time is worth more

    • Me too tevlon :(

    • Yeah same thing here. I called them yesterday to choose the upgrade but no response so far on the website.

  • +3
    • Not the only one on there LOL

    • Hope it sells for 11 cents!

    • Is it on salei? ;)

I have to say I'm more than a little jealous of those of you lucky enough to be scoring a v525W. Congrats guys.

This is a massive positive for Dell in my book. They could have quite easily blamed an IT glitch or something else for the overselling and just issued refunds, but in my opinion honoring this insane deal is very commendable.

    Well played Dell. Well played.

    • Yeah for sure, best publicity ever! Plus they know they will get repeat ink sales out if it. Quite smart I reckon

      • I don't know about that. This is OZ-Bargain. More likely everyone will be waiting for another printer deal and just throw out this one.
        Come in Officeworks!

After the initial call on Mon to choose option 1, I was offered a dell v525w as an upgrade but received no new order number and my initial order number still showed the dell v313. Hence was suprised this morning when the star track guy showed up with the promised dell v525w =). Congrats to Dell on honouring the deal…haven't disaapointed me yet with previous orders dell laptops and dell u2410 monitors.

p.s I did not receive any updates or smses after the initial first call, hence the suprise when the printer arrived

  • +1

    One shiny new V525W just delivered… :-).
Now, what to do with the other new unused printer in the cupboard ? :-(
    Damn you OZB!

  • +1

    Just got my v515w :)

  • Got my v515w just like 10 mins ago :)

  • Still haven't got anything :( No email or txt.

  • +1

Make sure you guys are home!

Star track can't leave it at a post office :(

    • too late for me..online delivery shows unsuccessful attempt :-(…any idea what are their pickup locations?

      • They usually leave a card with details?

    • Actually i think they do now as startrack is now owned by aae and aae are part owned by auspost

      • Also myn said SAU as sent but was sent with TOLL Fast courier just incase others were having trouble tracking there order.

        • Partially correct, AAE and startrack have both been owned by Auspost / Qantas for quite some time and were competitors (lol), due to aae losing money they are merging into one company.
          Not that i care :P

        • Thats correct, there was a 5 year agreement to keep it seperate that expired a few months ago.

Expect AAE to eventually disappear completely in terms of being an active shop front and will only be the 'middleman' for logistics movements. Startrack are already doing the majority of the pickup/deliveries now.

Even Australia posts logistics are starting to move aae and startrack freight by road.

Haven't bothered calling them. Status still shows "Work in Progress. Estimated Delivery Date: 11/07/2012" ;-)

Got mine today. v525W… yay! Nice work Dell… I may even consider purchasing one of your PCs or Notebooks now because of this :)

  • I look at this post daily and I wonder how long it would take everyone to receive their printers. =)

    • +1

      Just subscribe, its easier

  • Wow. Just reading the v525w manual and it mentions that the screen is a friggin' touchscreen and that it could do automatic duplexing both for scanning AND the printed output… are they serious? I haven't set mine up yet but can anyone else confirm this or are these features only available on a slightly higher model? For $9 I honestly (& obviously) don't care of course ;)

    • let me know if find out/test out if it can scan duplex. mainly interested in using this as a wireless scanner.

      • A lot of online feedback indicated problems with wireless (incl ZDnet reviewers, they ending up having to use the cable) so feature/brochure vs real life use could vary

  • I did not recieve any emails, calls or SMS's from dell after I called to choose option 1. But a dell V525W arrived today.

SteveAndBelle, I can confirm it does duplex printing (Not sure for scanned copies). But it's not touchscreen. You use the arrow pads on the printer to move and select.

Seriously for $9 bucks, your getting a printer, copier, scanner and fax machine. Best Bargain for me this year.

    • Legend Tevlon, thanks! I'd rather duplexing over a touchscreen anyday so all good. I think i'm still in shock at how good this printer is, it's even a bargain at several times the cost!

  • lol just checked status: it seems im now getting a RED v525w instead. Cant complain, but good on Dell for excellent customer service.

but it's red… haha oh well.

  • What colour v525w did everyone get or is getting?

    • Black & white. Are there other colours with the Z525W ??

  • Mines a black and white bezel printer.

  • Hmm good question.. mines still in the box in the loungeroom and will probably be there for a while.. haha

    packing slip says red.
but going by the pictures it looks like just a red accent

    http://images.logicbuy.com/datastore/userdeals/6340095448125…

    • I might use my new 525 in the box as a coffee table for a while.

  • Got my v525w this morning. I have not opened it as I am not sure whether to keep it or sell it on eBay. the only reason is that the cost of ink cartridges is very high. Otherwise I probably will keep it.

But then again I see a lot of v313/w printers on sale ;P

For your information, the manual for Dell v525w is here:
    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/SYSTEMS/prnV525w/en/UG…

    • Ill give you $9 for it hehe :)

    • The market will be flooded with them which means low prices because of oversupply. I'm using mine as a coffee table printer in a box and when I finally open it up it will be used solely for scanning and facsimile functions, not printing.

  • Updated my account with a V515.. How bad are they really? :/

    • It has a worse score on amazon then the 313. There's a solitary 5 star review of it that sounds like dell marketing wrote it.
On the plus it sounds like the scanner part works alright. There's several firmware updates on dells website for it, not sure what version will be on the printer but its possible some issues have been resolved.

      • cheers mate. looking forward to paper jams and printing 10 pages before the ink runs out. Was really hoping for a V525, especially waiting this long.

        ahh well

  • Hi everyone, just let you know I got my v525w one hour ago. Thanks op for this deal! Thanks Dell for free upgrade! Well played Dell!
I called last Friday to choose Option 1 (free upgrade) and received text msg on Wednesday. So all is well.

  • I got my 525w today in white colour and am extremely happy that I didn't have to wait another month for it to arrive. Toll dropped it off and I bet it costed Dell more than $9 to courier it out to me.

  • According to Dell site for 525w :
"Individual Single Use Ship-with capacity Ink cartridges (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black); Page yield: 400 pages"
    400 pages, yeah right.

  • Finally V525w arrived. yeah, champion dell

  • +1

Seems like this is a Dell lucky dip - btw i havent received mine yet :(

    • +1

Actually just called them. They said that everyone should have received an email about a printer shortage which advised to call Dell for an upgraded printer.

Only after I have called have they arranged this. Maybe for orders where no one has called they will still send you the original printer you ordered (2-3weeks). Btw I wanted to choose the model and colour and they said I could not. Basically a random better model printer will be assigned - lol

  • I never received an email, but I phoned them just now and they said that supposedly they did send it, asking if I want the upgrade or a refund.
My theory: about 45,383,091 emails have just been sent out by Dell with the same subject and body content ("Would you like a free upgrade to your below-cost printer?"), making email providers believe it must be spam :)

    • Have you checked your spam folder?

      • Of course, but nothing. But if an email provider (in my case gmail) is very confident it is spam, then it may never even reach my spam folder.

        • Providers are unlikely to prevent emails from reaching mailboxes. I don't think they sent it to all or stuffed up. I didn't get one either but aren't bothered. Phone call to them confirms order is in progress.

        • Actually, the gmail spam filter does exactly that. I have heard statistics that any unfiltered email account would otherwise received 100s of spam messages a day. Based on my ISP's account (which I do not use) I have no doubt that this is true because it is literally full of rubbish.

        • M.I.S.
I believe this to be true with Gmail's #1 filtering system but it will only happen with sources that they know to outright abuse the system and Dell would not be one of those. I use gmail and dell emails come through ok, i would imagine many others here use it also.
I initially received three emails from dell and all 3 referred to orders i knew nothing about.
When i phoned them and gave them my original order number they sorted it out immediately.

        • I agree. More likely to be a Dell email stuff up but fortunately not an issue for most on this occasion.

  • I got a consignment note at my front door from Star Track, and was told I either stay home all day to wait for my delivery or the item can be picked up from one of their depot— either Mulgrave or Tullamarine. I am at blackburn so Tullamarine is 60k round trip. They are unable to provide a time for delivery or leave the item at the front door, they cant gurentee which depot the item will go to if I choose pickup option.

For someone works full time, what option do I have? Take a sickie stay at home or drive to the airport? or just forget about it as it is causing me more time and petrol for the 9 dollars!

Currently on the phone with Dell as advised by Star Track to ask for other arrangement.

Can someone give me suggestions please? Thanks everyone.

    • Have you phoned Star Track? You can often ask for delivery to another location, such as your work address.

      • Thanks I did ring Star Trck and those options I mentioned are from them.

I wasn't sure if that is an option as the star track guy said if I want to change delivery address it needs authorisation from Dell.

But even that, I work in a big company and as Dell requires personal signature I don't think I can hassle the warehouse guys to call me when the delivery is here.

        • I have never had any courier insist that I personally sign for it. In general when they mean "personal signature", they mean "anyone", and they are perfectly happy for it to be anyone at that address. I have ordered lots of stuff by registered mail/courier, and 99% got signed off by someone else.

        • Thanks again, got it now.
I also spoke to Dell and they will change the address to my work and hopefully I will get my printer next monday or Tuesday.

        • do you know which model you're getting?

    • lol just chuck a sickie and be done with it. nine dollah!
