I know..I know….they are inkjets…and companies make money from sellings cartridges. BUT it has got a scanner too….and it's wireless…so IMO it's good for 9 bucks..

The specs don't really say that it's wireless…but i received an email from DELL showing the same price and photo of the printer…and it says it has an built-in 802.11 b/g/n wireless printing. So not sure about that.

      Ive chucked it in the cupboard with the brother laser printer lol ozbargain is filling my cupboards now where to find some cheap shelving cabinets hahaha

        I'm keeping my $9 special and off loading the new printer that was hiding in the back of a full cupboard.

    received v515w today
    but little disappointed as i could have gotten v525w if i was more patient..

    • That must make me patient then. V525W landed today.

      Any refillable cartridges about for the V525W

      • search under the lexmark equivalent model number. they are lexmark printers.

    • I called later than some people here that got a V525W, but I still got a V515W. So probably depends on who you talk to as well ;-)

  • finally able to see my new order v515w, but did't get any email also estimated delivery date showing 17/7/12.and tell me guyz those who got so far at exact date delivery date or after that…

    I end up selling my 515 for 60 dollah. 51 dollah profit, nice :) I really never needed it, but I miss the cardboard box.

  • Emailed Dell support, has been offered "equivalent or better" unit, but can't seem to find out what it will be yet.

    • Just watch your orders page, a new one should pop up soon.

  • Got a red v515w a few moments ago… was told on the phone I was getting a v525w, but I don't think anything would come of a phonecall to Dell.

    • Same here, told I'd get a v525w but 2 (yep two!) v515w were delivered. Thought hmmm maybe that was to compensate but an hour later received a call from Dell when they noticed the mistake.
      Put it on him for Dell to compensate me for all the hassles of having to be here for the collection by swapping my v515w for a v525w, he got back to me after speaking to his manager and no go as according to Dell the v515w is an upgrade to the v313 but reading horror reviews on Amazon I beg to differ.
      Don't waste your time ringing them, they won't swap it for a v525w.

          Both new orders have the same PO Number( reference to the original order ).
          They are processed at different times on the same day.

      • Were there 2 consignment number associated with the Dell reference number when you track it with Star Track? I've noticed that I have two consignment numbers but one had an attempted delivery a day before the second one.

    Same story with me.. I actually spoke to a Manager last week about my promised V525W(they are sending me a 515w now). I told him I would rather the 313 or anything else besides the 515. He said he couldn't do anything.

    I'll just use it as a scanner..

  • Has anyone in Perth had a delivery yet? I called the number some time ago but nothing heard since then.

    • I'm in Perth and got my v515W earlier today (16th). I called up on the 11th July and got an email from Dell about an hour later, so it hasn't been that long a wait over between calling up and delivery.

  • Dell is hell, showing estimated date 17july but called Dell to check status and they said now 19july, also can't track order says you don't have any order at the moment..

    It's been well over a week, what should I do? :(

    • I am in the same boat. I think you should contact Dell Support and find out about the progress so far. I contacted them via email and they got back saying they will deliver the printer (didn't mention model) in the next 4 weeks however my order status page is still showing old details.

    • Click on the order number then the Status history. It might give you more information if your order has been shipped and with the local courier..

      or you can check on www.startrackexpress.com.au, inputing your order number as startrack's reference number.

    Man, I'm glad I didn't buy anything at full price with them. Terrible service & no customer service.

    Got a v525W today. Bargain of the year for me! Thanks to the OP and thanks to my fellow ozbargainers. If it wasn't for everyone putting in an order and causing the stock of the 313 to run dry I would never have gotten the upgrade!
    Great policy by Dell as well.

    I got the V515w, it is not that bad. Wireless has been very stable and I just print 30 pages on it and the ink level is still full, print speed also great. Good things about v515w is that you can get cheap replacement ink for it. However V525w cant at this stage. I wonder if anyone know where to get replacement ink for v525w?

        I suggest you download the driver off Dell website rather then the driver cd.

        • That's not what I'd call "cheap", much cheaper than genuine but definitely not as cheap as some cartridges ($2.50 for 18ml of black/15ml of colour) :|

    I think the customer service is totally dependant on the rep you originally talk to. Sounds like some people got unbelievable service, with text messages, updated emails and even calls.

    However, some of us got the douchebag who would not give us any answers, not send us any info and tell us to call "some other time".

    I say this because I just called through to track my item which was meant to be delivered today (second eta given for delivery), the lady has been the only helpful rep I have spoken to (I have spoken to 4 different reps and 1 Supervisor). She has been the only rep who said would follow it up and let me know by today on what is happening and offered further assistance if it was not resolved.

    Received an SMS asking me to vote for my preferred delivery date next week, rather exciting.

    I think I'm getting the V525W which is great because I really wanted the ADF, but it does look like those individual ink cartridges will be very dear to replace (and therefore, won't be replaced).

    If anyone comes across replacement catridges for the V525W that would be awesome. Until then I'll just use the laser for printing and the inkjet for scanning and the odd colour page.

  • This is weird. My printer was delivered last week but I just got another SMS from Dell asking me to nominate a delivery day/time. Looks like they are sending me another v515w Red…lol . Two printers for $9. Can't complain!

    oood that Dell is offering alternate printers given the original is not available however their communication (emails) and order management (people getting others order numbers, extra order, etc) is a bit of a worry. Still waiting on any communication after calling them last week ;-)

    • Don't worry too much…I didn't get anything after I called them to take option 1 for my second printer; then my 525w turned up yesterday unannounced! Order number still shows as 'processing' on the Dill web page! ;)

    Chances are, if Dell don't communicate with you once after your initial phone call, you will get a good printer lol

  • lol I just checked my order status, I have another printer (v525w) under my account with new order number and estimated del. date 20/7. Thats after receiving a v515w !
    edit: I only bought 1 printer

      I think thats meant for me mate. How the hell dell have stuffed this up so much is beyond me. I would love to see a recording from their boardroom meeting over this :P

  • well I've been very happy with my $9 515w, even received a follow up call from dell, to make sure everything was alright.
    however for some reason unbeknown to me I have been greeted today by the arrival of another printer, a 525w.
    what to do, which to keep?

    • Unless they contact you the decision is yours.
      Saves Dell the cost of disposal of obsolete printers which must have been original intention.

  • Still no printer here. I now seem to have two orders on my account - a V313 and a V515W - but the delivery dates are both past, and they're still marked "Work in Progress".

    And now the Dell rep tells me it'll be "another 4 weeks"! My old printer died 3 weeks ago - do I keep making do & hope this'll be good enough, or just go buy a (much more expensive) printer tomorrow?

    • If you can't wait for it and need one now then it looks like you'll have to buy one (your call, not ours). If you don't want the $9 lucky dip printer you can ask for a refund.

    • Well, I now have orders for a V313, a V515W and a V525W, all "Work in Progress" - and the 525W actually turned up today, so I'm happy.

      Wonder if the others will eventually turn up as well.

    I rang for an update today since my last call (No communication received, same old order with date long passed). They said a new order (for an alternate model) is still to be generated but it is progressing each day (Whatever that means) and that I should get an email at that point. Happy to wait… Then put through to feedback system, wait… then [Click] "Thank you for your valuable feedback" and it hangs up! Got that on my last call too.
    Their automated feedback system seems to be working as well as their email and order management system ;-)

    • Did you press 1 after you were transferred to the feedback system, as per the instructions of the operator? what you effectively did was provided feedback for that operator and by choosing 1, you rate him very highly (which is what the operators want). I had the same experience but didn't mind pressing 1 as the operator was pretty helpful.

      • Neither of them advised me to press anything and there there was no automated guidance either. I was just asked to provide feedback, waited for transfer and heard the thank you message after a few seconds ;-)

        • Hang on a tic, what direction were you facing during the calls…that may have made a difference? ;)

  • Already received my printer and got a call from Dell today to deliver another.

    Are people keeping their 2nd printers or returning them lol.

    • Maybe your place is closer to the Dell warehouse so they are dumping our missing ones there ;-) $3 per printer is the new OzB printer benchmark.

      • In case dell come back and say we sent this by mistake and want it back? They have no obligation to let you keep it apart from good will.

          If they stuff up & send me a third then they'll be prying it out of my cold, dead hands!!! :p

        • True, and it's also the right thing to do. However, it will actually cost Dell more to send someone out to you to collect it and process the return than the printer is worth, so it's in their best interests to let you keep it. Hey, think about all the expensive ink you may buy from them!
