The pole saw and hedger are actually comparable to petrol performance. The trimmer will be too if you are only using it for residential use but won't be suitable if you are clearing large blocks of land with really thick grass/weeds.

  • +1

No edger attachment is a big downfall IMO. It really should have one

Am I wrong in saying that the Aldi will have more grunt in being a 2x20v? Seems like a much better option especially with the edger attachment. I'd pay the $7 difference for that.

    $331.55 with Powerpass though

    • +9

      2x 20v or 2x 18v would be the same.

      • Ah yes, thought this was just a single 18v but came with 2 batteries. Carry on…

      • Interesting side fact. I always thought the difference between my 18v Ozito and 20v Aldi was marketing spin.

But I use my Aldi drill charger to charge our Dyson vacuum cleaner. I initially tried using my Ozito 18v charger, but the voltage doesn't go high enough to charge it.
So must be a slight difference in battery chemistry between the Aldi and Ozito, or alternatively maybe charges the cells to a higher voltage. Don't know.

        • +1

Reading the comments in the Aldi thread about this special buy, they use 21700 cells, which may be the difference?

    • +1

Apart from the first time you cut your edges you will get a better result using the line trimmer anyway if you do them regularly.

      • +5

I beg to differ. Stick edger every time for me

        • -2

but an atom edger. Ozito is garbage.

          • @neofelis: Don't like them personally.
            I run the Makita 40v

    • Powerpass will only have 1 year warranty since considered trade?

      • +2

Ozito don't have any commercial warranty, I've never had an issue returning anything purchased with Powerpass. They don't naturally assume you're using it for trade simply by swiping your Powerpass card

  • +2

Aldi kit would cost $200+$50+$50+$20+$20=$340 vs $349, so only $7 extra

    • +1

I've already got both Ozito and Aldi batteries so the Aldi kit is a better deal for me. Plus I think the Aldi pruner has the motor in the base rather than the head so it's eaier to handle. But this has the extension pole which is handy.

      • +2

This ozito model has the motor in the base

        • Thanks - was a bit hard to tell from the box - the head on the chain saw looked a bit chunky

        • then it would be hard to use it for edgeing, I have AEG brushless line trimmer 18V & its awesome with motor in teh head

  • Did bunnings match aldi blowers price?

    • +1

They already have a blower reduced to $59 so I'd say that will be it rather than a jet blower

  • +4

Bought one last time. Highly recommended.

    • +1

      How's the trimmer?

I have the 2x 18v PXC trimmer and it kills my wrist due to the battery compartment.

I'm thinking of taking it back for this kit

      • The line trimmer is powerful. You can swap it for a regular dual line bump feed head as well.

        • Not awkward to hold (particularly on the trigger hand). The non-promo version has your wrist bent at 90 degrees.

  • +2

Decent kit. But how is this a bargain when its $70 more than last year?

    • +1

      Inflation is a b#+(h

    • -2

      Inflation, War on Ukraine etc…

    • +2

This is a newer version. The one last year was eol. The pruner for instance is different.

  • Is the included saw good enough to cut thick tree branches ?

    • +1

I cut through branches up to about 15cm thick with the 18V version so this 36V version should handle them pretty easily.

  • +1

Does anyone know how to stand these up in the shed in an organised way?

    • If you can mount something to the wall, the StorEase system is good. Otherwise the clips for brooms and the like may work

  • Very powerful. But the hedger attachment is too heavy. Whipper snipper is not suitable for edging. I wouldn't recommend for this price.

    • +2

Why is it not suitable for edging?

You can install a regular dual line bump feed head and you can remove the guard.

      • I think becaseu it has motor in teh base, would be hard to do it on angle

    • +1

I edge with this at an angle. it's heavy and not fully straight but from a distance you can't tell. I use a straight edge shovel to clear a trench then maintain with the trimmer.

  • +5

I bought the aldi 5 in one kit today $200. Good build quality, highly recommended.
Also bought the aldi blower today $60 and was surprise by powerful it is, couldn't be happier with it.
Spoke to the manager about the 5 years warranty anf and he said anything wrong with it and they'll refund me. He recommended taking photo of receipt to keep. 5 years is crazy long warranty.

    • -8

1 year warranty on Aldi batteries, the tool belongs to scrap pile without batteries.

See the upvotes on Ozito tools compared to Aldi lol.

Stop misleading people like Aldi fanboy dreamscene.

      • +2

Calm down. Just relax mate. You are panicking over battery warranty and repeating yourself saying Aldi battery warranty is 1 year so ‘it’s crap’. The Aldi Ferrex Ultra batteries are a lot more advanced than Ozito batteries using Samsung 21700 cells in their batteries. There have never been reports of Aldi batteries failing in under 3 years on Ozbargain the last 10 years Aldi has been selling 18-20v tools. Also people have reported here that ALDI also refunded battery purchase price if a tool fails within the 5 year warranty period.

      • Stop misleading people saying aldi batteries are crap.
You're misleading people because you clearly have never owned an aldi power tool.
I've been buying aldi tools for years and all the batteries are still fine.

    • Also aldi have the 60 days return period no questions asked if not happy with it.

I returned 2 TVs over the years with the 60 days no questions.

  • How much was the lawn mower and grass trimmer kit next to it?

  • +1

I have the single 18V version and it's heavy enough when using saw or hedger at full extension. This 36V brushless motor is nice but it would be too heavy for me.

  • A quick question as it’s not clear from the image or product specs. Can the hedge trimmer be used standalone, or does it always need to be attached to the pole attachment?

  • Anyone in store know if they’re matching the ozito mower?

  • I'll wait for some Ryobi deals

    • Don't buy the Ryobi pole saw (especially the chorded version). It has plastic tabs holding the chain bar in place. Dangerous and ridiculously stupid.

Lots of bad reviews around this issue.
      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/ryobi-720w-pole-pr…

I spoke to Ryobi Australia, after mine naturally snapped off and bits came flying off. They were aware of the issue and basically couldn't give a stuff. After a shit fight, Bunnings said I could swap it for the new model (even though Ryobi denied the warranty claim as wear and tear). Exact same design, same reviews with people having parts flying at them (which is great when you are up a ladder holding a chainsaw). In still pursuing them for a refund.

Never buying Ryobi again with that attitude. 3D printed a couple of battery adaptors and bought and Aldi pole saw and Ozito SDS. Build quality is much better than Ryobi. They can get stuffed.

      • Well that's yikes indeed
I wanted to get few of their bits that all run on the same battery
All my experience with aldis or ozito have been negative so thought the Japs would build things better

        • Yeah, cant go by brands anymore…product by product basis.

  • +2

Had been waiting for this pack this summer. Thanks OP.

  • I feel for your trees. The Pole pruner/chainsaw is so much fun.

  • 3 left in pakenham.
Scanning as $331.55 with powerpass app.
If looking for them, they are in the blower isle #21 on a trolley

  • +3

I bought this last time. Just a heads up that although brushless, it is not variable speed. It’s either fully on or fully off. The line trimmer is mainly what I use it for and sort of regret it. It’s heavy and very long and wish I had of bought a dedicated line trimmer (maybe an ego). The trimmer only has 1 line. I have ordered a speed feed head on it hoping the dual line helps with line breaks and speed for cutting. I have removed the guard also as it’s huge, bulky and doesn’t let the line get long enough. It does have plenty of power though. The hedge trimmer needs the pole extension to work and makes it way too long for normal hedging. Good for hedging high things though.

    • I have replaced the head to a two line head a week after I bought the kit the then it’s a game changer. As powerful as my long borrowed Ego Carbon shaft trimmer from my friend, despite it’s way heavier than the ego. More importantly two line head is well balanced when operating rather than consistently shaking then end up with ugly lawn edges.

I mainly used it for trimming and edging for my 300m2 lawn. I don’t complaint at all but I do have sore arms every time.

  • +1

Unless you wants some gym time and have very long arms, I don't recommend this kit at all, very powerful but very very heavy, the handle and 2 triggers is not well designed. Hence, you have to bend your back at same time reaching the triggers from behind, it would exhaust anyone just for a lawn area that less than 10sqm. I'm just talking about my experience with the line trimmer alone but with two battery and the heavy pole, it would be heavy for any of the tool. I had a normal Ozito pole trimmer, saw and separated hedge trimmer and I would recommend those over this one.

  • +1

I bought this today and used it for about 1.5 hours. It is heavy. I got it on the scales, and the whipper snipper weighs 6kg. I used the strap as well, and my hands still hurt. Not sure how usable this is with the pole saw and the extension.

Can I take it back for a refund?

    • +2

I can bring you back to today's morning and tell your younger self not to buy it?

    • Balancing it helps a bit with the two stroke ones, is the battery power one so heavy towards the front?

      • Heavy towards the rear where the batteries sit.

  • Ozito batteries are crap. I had one die under one year and another under 2 years with only mild use. You get what you pay for

    • +1

Looks like you've had some bad luck! I've got 14 batteries from 2 to 4AH bought over the last 4 years and all of them still run nicely and get used every week.

    • -1

Some 'tricks' to improve battery life, don't charge a battery straight after use (when warm-hot), let it cool down for 45 mins. Yes, pain in the bum if you only have 1 set of batteries. Another trick is to only charge to 85-90% max (never 100%) and don't go below 40% discharge. It will reduce cycle degradation and increase lifespan 2x according to 'battery experts'. I know Ozito only makes 4Ah batteries so it's hard to stay within that threshold especially on mowers, blowers and line trimmers without multiple charges. If they ever release 8Ah batteries, it will be possible to make those batteries last forever or at least 7-10 years by using the above charging 'trick'. Best to buy multiple batteries if you can't stay within those charge-discharge ranges and get enough run times. Aldi's Xfinity battery range uses more advanced 21700 cells and also has a digital % display on their 4Ah and 8Ah batteries to make it easier to stay in that charge - discharge range. Not sure why Ozito hasn't released 8Ah batteries using the more advanced 21700 cells like Aldi's Xfinity range in Aus, it would be a game changer for their eco system of tools.

  • Anyone know if there is another kit out there that is lighter to handle? Wouldn’t mind paying a bit more
