Do most laptops have only 1 year warranty or is this warranty from JW?

  • MSI only have 1 year warranty on laptops. But MSI make good quality computer stuff/ laptops, so you probably won't need it. Only If this had a i7 and Windows Pro I would be in.

Correct me if Im wrong (or ignorant) but isn't the longer the warranty, the better quality something is? Because if someone were to claim their product is of good quality but only give it a year of warranty, doesn't that seem like a contradict?

It's like they have measured it will last at least a year without any failure. Am I totally wrong?

      • You're not wrong but you would struggle to find a sub $1000/$1500 laptop like this with any more than 1 year warranty these days. MSI in my experience have pretty good quality control on the hardware side, software (bios/firmware updates) is another matter as after a year they don't really care and don't push out updates.

        • Ah I see, thanks.

The Intel NUC I just purchased has 2 years and it was sub $1000. I believe many dells and ASUS also have 2 years standard. I wouldn't purchase a laptop with less than 2 years as most budget phones even have 2 years and giving only 1, doesn't instill confidence in their product. I know MSI are good quality, but I would expect a laptop to last more than 1 year

    • I guess if you go with u processors, i5 and i7 has marginal difference of .2 ghz extra and no extra cores or threads.

  • Yes it has backlight keyboard

39Wh battery? I'd expect better for something that is 1.4kg.

    • Damn that's tiny. hopefully those efficiency cores work some magic.

Recently picked up a gigabyte U4 for someone for under $880. Has a similar sized battery but the 14" laptop only weighs 990g…

      +1.
39Whr battery with 12th gen i5 is a joke. For a "modern" laptop with an ULV processor, I'd expect at least 8hrs of battery life, and 39Whr will will probably barely do 6.

      • You will laughing if it last 6 hours. More like 4hours

I might have missed something 🤷🏽‍♂️, but I thought you needed 2 memory modules for Dual Channel to work.

    DDR4-3200, 16GB (16GB*1), dual channel
