Better deal than the $421 S20 FE 4G?
Nope, the galaxy s20 fe is a much better phone with a flagship chip, even if it is two years old it will still perform better in all aspects apart from software upgrades.

@dcep: Still quite a few Snapdragon/6GB s20FEs being sold eg officeworks. When did the 8GB come in ?
My nephew has the A53 5G and I have the s20 fe and running everything from games to apps is a lot faster on the s20 fe. The s20 fe uses snapdragon 865 a very powerful chipset compared to a midrange exynos chip in the A53 5G. The only advantage the A53 5G has is longer updates because the s20 fe updates are finishing with the oneui 5 Android 13, while A53 5G will get Android 14 and 15.

Anyone know if this is the dual-sim version?
It’s a single sim. Samsung A23, a lower budget model has a dual physical sim.
All other Samsung newer A series like A33, A53, A73 are single sim.
Then you get dual sim; Physical+ esim in higher S series or Z series.
Australia gets the single SIM versions, grey imports are dual SIM.
Buy the A53 now or towards next month / into new year?
My old Xperia is tired but can wait if there's a better price on the A53.

I have the A53 and it's sooo laggy. Save your $ for something better.
Get the A73 - not too much more $ and significant performance improvement. I got the A73 in the EOFY sales for under $500.
Is this the older 4gb model or the newer 6gb ram model.
