Picked one up, at $725 this is a steal.
I have upgraded from Sony Bravia 55” 55x7000d and can confirm that the TCL has great picture quality.

This is 2022 model and comes with Google TV with latest updates. I have found it to be snippy and great. Furthermore, if you are really into it, you can use a AppleTV, firestick etc and use the hdmi-cec (turn on in settings) to turn on the TV directly into the AppleTV, firestick etc and use one remote respectively.

  • Does this tv actually support 4k120? The site says it's hdmi 2.1 and supports high framerate gaming but a few other sites say its a 60hz panel.

    • +14

75 inches, not small brand, under $800. That really cheap

    • +3

      https://www.tcl.com/au/en/products/p735/75P735.html

Only mentions HDMI 2.1 and ALLM.
Would not bet on it have 120hz/4k support.
      Also, doesn't mention VRR.

    • +2

It's 4k 60hz. See here for the specs.

      • Thanks. Don't know why it says it supports high framerate gaming.

        • Some are 4k 30hz.
Your right though, 60 really shouldn't be considered high

          • @Duff5000: Minimum acceptable frame rate gaming

            • @Phoebus: Yeah. I bought a EKO 75in advertised as 100hz only to find it would only accept an input of 30hz @4k. Returned it.

    • and what content exactly you gona be playing thats 120hz ? apart from some games and even then ur struggling to get it that high

      • Just don't want to buy a 60hz tv as it's not really future proof. Will be using my PS5 and XSX.

        • TV, PS5 and XSX… none are future proof

        • you want future proof TV for $995?

    • +2

Does any 75" TV under $1,500 to 4k120hz? Would be very difficult to find I would have thought.

      • It is actually half of $1500

    Cash Expires today?

    • $100 TGG Realca$h Expires 12th Nov 2022.
      $100 TCL cashback Expires 15th Nov 2022.

      • -7

Yeah so the first one expires today then?

          • -1

            @Duff5000: Today is 12 November 2022

            • +5

@Kanjus: So with all that information at your disposal, you still can't work out the answer to your question?

              • +1

@xyron: A simple yes would have been polite.

                • -1

@Kanjus: Seems like people have been polite for way too long for you to ask if a promotion ending on 12th november ends today (12th november). You need to surround yourself with more people like @xyron.

                  • +1

@bluephonebox: I was just checking if the date was correct on the post but you guys can carry on trolling. Turns out it is wrong. See below.

                    • -2

@Kanjus: No it isn't wrong. You have been given the date multiple times.

The later date is when you have to have your claim submitted by. Purchases must be placed by today. FFS…..

Edit: are you asking when the 'realcash' must be used by? If so you really need to explain yourself more clearly.

                      • @Duff5000: The penny drops

                          The penny drops

That you need to explain yourself more clearly or that you were flat out wrong? Either way. Ok…..

It will be in your bank, your cash doesn't expire. The promo expires on the 12th. Today is the 12th. Is there anything else obvious we need to explain?

                          • +1

@Duff5000: What part of 'cash expires today?' do you have trouble comprehending??
I did not ask if promotion expires today.
I know very well what day it is today hence the question.
You were all wrong but you keep on trolling. This used to be such a helpful place.

                            • -3

                              @Kanjus:

"I did not ask if promotion expires today."

Certainly looked like that's what you were asking.

When you posted "Cash Expires today?" everyone assumed you were asking if the 'realcash' promo finished today. It's the most logical interpretation given your complete lack of detail. Asking if store credit expires would make sense, not cash in a cashback. How does money in your bank expire?

This should have been obvious to you and your could have replied, "sorry i meant do i have to use the cash by today". Instead you just posted "so it expires today". To everyone reading along it seemed like you were asking again about the promo finishing today. There are so many ways you could have asked that better. Make yourself clear.

You were all wrong but you keep on trolling.

If nobody understands what you are trying to ask that's on you. Nobody was trolling, you just did a really poor job of asking a question you could have answered yourself in like 10 seconds.

      • Regarding to TCL cashback, I've been told to pay the price at the counter and redeem at TCL website with the receipt

        • +1

According to their T&C's it has to be submitted within 21 calender days from the day you buy it.

      • +2

All Realcash Claims must be received by 11:59pm AEST on 7th December 2022 as per t&c. So the cash must expire after that

      • Does that mean, even if I bought it on12th and didn't submit the claim by 12th Nov as mentioned in description, it's okay??

I had to purchase before 12th Nov and the claim can be submitted by 7th Dec, is that right?

        • +1

          Correct.

  • FYI as per : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/712930

I found google/android TV to be laggy and returned it. Maybe a chance I just got a bad apple.

Snippy: curt or sharp, especially in a condescending way.

I think you need to teach your TV some manners.

      • Snappy*

        • +1

Snappy: irritable and inclined to speak sharply; snappish

Pretty much me in a nutshell.

    • For a $725, 75" TV?

    • +2

This is honestly going to be the reality for a tv in this range. Panel not bad, software a bit clunky. Usable, even more usable if you get a google tv or 4k firestick etc
Maybe only residual problem might be turn on time, my tcl tv is a bit slow to turn on (65x7) but does have a fast turnon (i.e. only ever goes into standby mode) function
Tbh i dont even use the firestick because im not easily frustrated enough anyway that the inbuilt software is workable

    • +1

It did do some Google TV updates right away. Perhaps major improvements.

    • Depends on the processor. Higher end models will have faster processors so will be a bit snappier.

    • No that's normal , tcls hardware and software is not up to scratch imo , the big boys Sony , lg, Samsung definitely have a much better software experience. Tcl does make good looking units .

I have two family members with TCL android tvs. When they turn them on, it basically does a full android boot sequence and takes a couple of minutes to fully boot. I’ve tried playing around with the settings but haven’t found a fix yet. No idea if it’s a widespread issue with TCL but I wouldn’t take the chance personally.

      • Username checks out!!

      • +1

Mine had a short press for standby on and off. Long press for reboot

      • I have a 65P6US, 4+ yo. It has always been very slow to turn on.

      • P715 from 2020 running AndroidTV OS. Still turns on quick (never counted but def less than 10s) with "Quick Boot/start-up" enabled.

    • Try this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12872490/redir

(Edit: I just saw you returned it. Ah well.)

Qled vsQuhd TV ? Another new thing confuses me 😀Which one is better?

    • QUHD is just some TCL marketing. It isn't really a thing.

"A premium product category launched by TCL, QUHD appears on their higher end TVs. All QUHD TVs benefit from 4K UHD for incredibly detailed pictures, HDR for vibrant colours bolstered by a decisive contrast, and an Android TV operating system"

Are you still eligible for the real cash and TGG store cash cashback if purchasing through eBay though?

      • I think can get TCL cash back but not real cash

        • +1

TCL says Visa gift card on website but there are people saying it's TGG gift card if you buy from TGG.

    • -1

Do you still get all the cashbacks?

      • +2

no. Not via Ebay. Online in-store and TGG website.

        • Cash back I think you can because you still received TGG invoice, last time I bought weber Q from TGG eBay I received TGG invoice, not mentioned anything about eBay on it.

    • no idea, didn't notice the cashbacks as wasn't n the header

  • +8

Have a TCL 65 - its fkn garbage. Don't buy this trash. Bugs galore, terrible UI, slow, laggy, awful HDR. Had to put a Fire Stick on it to make it semi usable and forget about FTA.

    • Does it take an eternity to turn on? I timed mine, it takes 40 seconds which seems trivial but it does begin to grind on you.
Also it definitely requires a chromecast/ firestick as the built in software is temperamental and glitchy.
Tv build is definitely adequate, picture looks good, sound exceptional (mine has a built in soundbar)
      But software is just garbage…
Its a great price but just be aware you get what you pay for…

    • +1

      What model?

      • +1

        55C6US
Sorry, I have an older TV. My explanation was more towards TCL products rather than this particular TV. The TV itself is usually decent specs but the software will infuriate you and they do nothing to try to fix it or update it.
Literally TV volume will appear, sometimes just gets stuck on the screen. Random pop ups of what channel you are on etc. If you are not easily annoyed it might not bother you but I have been told by the household " I am never to buy TCL ever again…no matter the price"

        • +9

This is 2022 model and comes with Google TV with latest updates. I have found it to be snippy and great. • @Starlord: I'm with Puglife on this, you may have a good experience right now but in a few months it will turn to puss. Even with a firestick, you may find the T.V doing weird stuff e.g. turning on randomly at odd times.

I found it was best to keep the T.V disconnected from the network.

TCL will not provide support beyond a few half assed updates which do not fix problems and/or introduce new ones, up until the support period is up. My experience was with a different model, but it looks like the experience is the same.

    • Which model?

    • Which model? What OS is it running?

    • 100% agree I learnt that the hard way 2.5k for a top of the line qled a few years back , should have spent the extra , warranty claims, software bugs OTA via USB ??? Are we in the 1990's never again

    • -1

Mine is 65P6US. Regardless even if mine is a slightly older model - the TCL brand is garbage. It'a riddled with bugs and their customer support sucks. I'd imagine this TV would be similar. Spend a bit more for a better brand - even Hisense is MUCH better. Thankfully my TCL is just a bedroom TV and not my main.

    • It's cheap for a reason

  • Is this QLED ?

    Costco model is QLED
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/733337

    • It's also 10 inches smaller though

    • Nope. That was also 120hz as well. Significantly smaller though.

  • 30 $ cash back in CommBank rewards targetted OP

    Thanks OP, ordered.

  • Looks to be a run of the mill low end model with native 50/60hz panel. Fine if you dont have any particular requirement/not fussy or for kids/garage etc

  • +1

    Ordered. thanks.

  • When do we get the TGG store cash?

  • Thanks I’ve ordered! How does the real cash and store cash work? I signed up and downloaded the wallet before buying.

    • How did you setup wallet? I haven't got a link from good guys yet . Filled in the form with my details but no progress

      • I just signed up on their website and there’s a link to add to Apple wallet. Not sure how I get the store cash for this order though.

    • +3

For realcash go to https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/offers and put in your order number as as well as whatever is required then you should be able to get an approval email within a couple of hours, if you choose to receive money in your bank you will be asked to provide your BSB and account number.

No clue about the store cash sorry as I haven't received anything 4 days after l placed the order…

If it was published on their 20% click frenzy would make the deal even sweeter. Geez

I just bought this from JBHIFI. Same advertised price of $995 They have 15% off when combined with a sound bar. So I bought with TS8132…instore for $440 -15%. I used my $10 perks voucher so it worked out to be $1265.85 (with a 3 year warranty on soundbar). I purchased with $1250 jbhifi gift cards at 2.5% back with shop back. So an extra $31.25 off effectively. Plus I get $100 cashback from TCL and got a $100 JBHIFi gift card (will give to niece and nephew for Christmas). So effectively ~$1034.6 for the TV and soundbar.

For comparison purposes, TV is discounted down to $845.75 with the 15% off…. and with the $100 TCL cb and $100 gift card it can be thought of as effectively ~$646 for the TV and say ~$389 for the soundbar.

I can't comment on quality etc yet.. I have to go today with my ute and pick it up.

    • +4

Yeah but how much did you pay for the ute and did you get any cashback on that?

      • probably like 100%

    • +1

You should have got the Him/Her/Home ultimate cards from Woolies 20x points (10% off)

    • You could have gotten a decent true 5.1 setup second hand for $389.
