  • Is a Dell refurb like an Apple refurb? How much of a saving is this over a new one (when on offer)?

    • New one is 650$.
I was wanting to get a monitor for myself and came across previous link of this model with good reviews(even though refurb).
Seems like it's almost new. Have ordered one, so yet to find out.

    • I saw it is around 600-700 brand new, but dell monitor generally overprice(brand and exclusive tech), thats why it not hard to see morethan 30% sale on their webside.
About this monitor, im not sure about picture quality and such but 700$ for 27 inch 4k 60hz usb c, it supose to be good, downside is 27 inch wont match well with 4k

    • To work out discount: https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=Dell+S2722QC

Discount is variable. Think it depends on whether it's an actual refurb (and the condition it's in) vs a perfectly good returned item or cancelled order (in the case of custom build laptops/PCs). Also to be clear, when Dell say refurb they mean a repaired or returned item, not a two year old used item that's been traded in.

I've never had a bad experience with Dell outlet. All of my Dell purchases in the last 12 years have been via the outlet, and in almost all cases the items have come in as-new condition (my last laptop did have a slight scuff mark on the lid, which is only visible at certain angles). The only thing I've bought brand new from Dell was a replacement battery.

    • I took a punt. 3 year warranty is enough (for me) to suggest it’s worth it.

I got this for $360 new from dell eBay store, they always have sales on. Great monitor for the price, 4K and usbc

      • Good to know!

    • +1

I got this model refurbished. First one was faulty with coil whine and had a small scratch in the display. Got it replaced and the new one is flawless.

I don’t think the quality control is as good as Apple’s, but at least the warranty/service is good.

    • I've ordered about 3 items from Dell's refurbished outlet store. Every time the item has looked brand new and had no issues.

  • +1

Not sure how I feel about getting this refurbished

    • +9

It is Dell outlet. Expect it to be like new. Possibly not even unpacked before.
      Comes with full 3-year warranty.

  • A few others have purchased this too I Guess, So they'll be in a better position to comment.

But overall looking at the specs not bad for the price even though refurb.

    • I have been using this monitor for about 1.5 years now. the only minor issue I've had is the screen flickering twice so far, but all you have to do is turn it off from the power for some time and it goes back to normal. Otherwise great monitor for the price

  • Thanks Daniel

  • Thanks OP!

I have a couple of S2721QSs, and they are fantastic for office work.

RTINGS have also given this monitor a good rating for office work (maybe other things, I can’t remember)

  • +2

    OOS Already. Lol

  • Thats quick hahah, I still researching if its good or bad 😂 😂

    • I get a weird flickering/ghosting issue with mine occasionally but it goes away on its own. I use it with an M1 Mac mini but it does it with other sources too. Otherwise great monitor.

      • Have you tried claiming the warranty ?

        • I know I should, though I bought it through the Ebay store. Does that matter?

          • +3

            @Shenannigoat: Shouldn't matter either way.

Dell should sort you out with an advanced replacement.

            • @notaccel: Cheers, when it happens again I'll take a video and start a process. Had the monitor for about a year so would be covered.

          • +1

@Shenannigoat: Lol I’m not sure too. Was asking is you every tried or how was the experience. Good to know cause I’ve just got one too haha

          • @Shenannigoat: If you bought from dell ebay then doesnt matter, I bought one time from ebay and thwy still sending you a dell receipt saying 3 year warranty

      • Same, had it come up for me twice so far. All I do is turn it off from power for a few hours and it goes back to normal. Other than that for the price happy with it

      • Using 2 screens or one with m1

Ozb rule 1 buy first question later XD

  • Refurbs can be returned for a variety of reasons, most that were fixed but some might slip through.
I had a Dell refurb monitor (24" S series) that once in a while would just flick off then back on about half a second later. Something that most likely wasn't able to be replicated when returned so not fixed.
But i've also had no problems on two other purchases.

    • I have a brand new Dell 24" S series and one right next to it which doesn't do the same thing. I put it down to a dodgy graphic card and not the monitor.

    Muzeeb can do better

  • +1

24 mins and OOS FML I need a new monitor.

  • Great monitor! Highly recommended

  • Damm, this would of been good for a PS5? ERRR

  • I know this one is OOS, but is there still some additional discount through advantage or student scheme on the DELL website?

    • +1

Was trying to get a discount over the last few days, Lowest i could go was 550$ with 15% Student discount. Couldn't stack any other codes

      • Can the 15% discount be used on DELL outlet?

      • +1

I think student discount via unidays is 20% (though still not useable at outlet)

picked one up 2 weeks ago at this price. best monitor deal ever

  • I know you can't daisy chain two of these, but does anyone know if you have one of these and (say) a U2722DE if you can chain the two together? I don't understand how it works so I'm not sure if both monitors need to be "compatible" or just one of them.

    • It depends on the source monitor. If Monitor (A) has DP out, then it should be fine as long as monitor (B) has DP in. (I don't know if you can just use a HDMI adaptor or not when daisy chaining)

      • The source is a MacBook pro, so I thought I could connect macbook—> first monitor—> second monitor for cable minimisation, is that right? As long as the first monitor has DP out?

    • You only need one monitor with daisy chain and then you can chain whatever screen you want. Except if you want to chain 3 monitors together. I've got a P2422HE with daisy chain and then a Dell monitor from 2014 I believe (U2314 or something)
Even compatible with surface device while my very expensive Lenovo docking station was saying no.

    LOL

Dell must spend a lot marketing budget on these voting bots

    Come on, really?

Brand new was 369 and you can stack with discount ebay gift card etc.
But now we think a refurbished at 329 is a good deal???

    • 369 ? Link please or it didn’t happen…

    • When? It’s $650 new.

      • Of course. Welcome to ozRRP

        • Cool thanks. Hopefully it drops again for Black Friday.

Here you go this is the link.

    • Yeah these refurbished deals seem absurdly bad value to me, but I guess we're in the minority.

      • Genuinely wondering what's the better alternative within that price range. I've missed out but in the market.

    • Completely agree. Not a deal at all. Have been watching the monitor prices closely for myself and my friend to get a monitor. The dell RRP is massively inflated and then the new ones on sale aren't much more.
