  • So is the S2722QC the right monitor to pay $370 for?

I'm keen on 4k, ips. And to a lesser extent usb-c

My use case is XBSX, movies, productivity

    • +1

dunno about using it with an xbox.

I bought two during the recent sales. The 4K is nice but the main selling point IMO is the USB-C. 1 cable to my laptop for charging, keyboard and mouse is sooo handy.,

      • can the usb c be daisy chain to the second monitor?

        • I use a usb-c monitor docker. so I could use those ports on the docker to connect to 3 monitor and some usb devices.

    • Maybe g3223q if u need xbsx as it supports 120hz hdr

      • Nah, want the 4k for productivity

        • +1

4k on a 27 inch is pretty small. 1440p generator accepted as the sweet spot at the 27 inch screen size.

I run a 34 inch ultrawide next to the S2721DGF and it feels very right size wise

          • @Domingo: Yeah it probably is small but 4k is a nice standard res for movies and games.

My main pc is a 43" 4k and i do enjoy that. But my partner would go bonkers if I bought something too big as the close-range WFH monitor

          • +1

@Domingo: I run 4k on 150% zoom. Dual 27inch Dells. Will never go back.

            • +4

@iWan: Doesn't that mean you're essentially zooming to 1440p anyway?

              27" 1440p, PPI = 108.79
              27" 4k, PPI = 163.18
              27" 4k at 150% zoom, effective PPI = 108.79

Sure, you'll have more pixels for sharpness within that, but you'll also face compatibility issues with zoom - not all applications handle it well and some stuff comes out blurry.

It's probably much of a muchness but in my view unless you're doing pixel perfect image editing etc, there isn't much point on paying extra for 4k at 27" given the above. On a 32 inch or higher then I'd definitely go 4k.

        • G3223Q is 4K, but yeah it's sold out since last deal. The 2K one on this deal is G3223D

        • I went for 2x S3221QS for productivity and I really like them. Got them on sale a while back.

    • I’ve got this monitor hooked up to PS5 which should be similar to XSX.

Very good monitor but you ~might~ have better luck with the price if you’re willing to wait for EOFY sales in June.

    • +1

Can confirm it's a solid monitor! Using it as we type ahha. The usb-c comes in clutch when i plug my laptop in, as it charges it and adds a 2nd screen.

      • +1

There's two people typing on your computer at the same time?

        • +3

          There are two people…

          • @OzJunkGain: There're two people typing on their computer at the same time?

      • Which monitor is that?

        • +1

          Dell 27 4K UHD USB-C Monitor - S2722QC

    • The QS has been cheaper in some sales (just has no USB C)… but not by a ton.

      • I bought one of those in the last deal as <$300. But decided i wasnt sure if i wanted a monitor with usb c instead. So i put the S2721QS on gumtree for $350 as a decider and it sold, now here i am willing to spend more for the S2722QC. But just wondering if there's a better option given we're now talking $370 rather than $300..

I mean if it was a great monitor I'd spend more than $370 but a lot of ppl here talk $700-900.. At that point I'd be better saving for the best monitor available than spending a lot for something further down the pack

    • +1

Want the ultrasharp version. U2723QE or U3223QE.

    • I have this monitor. Bought it last year, I'm keen to buy another one… But I bought my first one at $369 LAST YEAR. I'm hoping it goes cheaper than that… But so far, it hasn't.

  • Do they not have a listing on eBay for the G3223Q? I was really hoping to see a deal on that this round, is there a Dell rep that we can request that from? ;)

    • +1

Would love a deal on the g3223q

      • -1

I think it's overpriced at previous deals of $900. Nice monitor but honestly expecting a little bigger than 32" for the price. 34" for sure. Or charge a couple hundred more and give us 38".

        • +4

How come it's overpriced at 900 AUD (846 to be precise), legit the cheapest 32 inch IPS 4k 144 Hz monitor. The closest one is the Gigabyte M32U which recently just drop down to 950 AUD, and that one is the only competitor in the sub 1k market.

          • @Masticccc: The Xiaomi monitor 34" can often be had for 450 on a deal yo, worth considering too

            • +5

@confidantduk: That one is neither IPS nor 4K, it's VA and UWQHD. Not saying the Xiaomi is bad, but the G3223Q and the Xiaomi Ultrawide are obviously not in the same category.

          • @Masticccc: Well I'm running a 4k ips 43" that's been as low as $600. The dell has a better refresh rate but it's both $300 more expensive and 11" smaller.. Imho it doesn't stack up. $900 is better saved for bigger 16:9 screens with qd-oled… IF you can wait a couple years.

There's also the 48" 120hz oled screens which are $1100 (and have been $1050).

For me I want a WFH screen right now so I'll buy the s2722qc then wait a couple years for a 40" qd oled. Rather than buy something inbetween that costs too much and isn't the all-in-one WFH and gaming monitor that I want.

            • @justtoreply: Your argument is more about the Dell not fitting your liking, not it's overpriced. Again, find me any 32' 4K IPS 144 Hz monitor cheaper than the G3223Q without cutting any of the above specs?

"Well I'm running a 4k ips 43" that's been as low as $600. The dell has a better refresh rate but it's both $300 more expensive and 11" smaller.. "
I guess the monitor refresh rate is 60 Hz, since I can't find any 120Hz 4K IPS 43' at that price. Then it's basically unusable for me as a CSGO player. And 43 inch is another big minus for FPS game to check corner/radar….. That's not even to say I'm using 4 monitors set up right now (well 90% of the time 2 of them are off), how can I fit that 43 inch for my set up lol. Finally need to change my desk since the width is not enough to set a safe distance between my eyes and the monitor. And my current desk has the perfect size for my room, I also do all the cable routing and management, clamping monitor stand… so I don't want to do all of that again with the new desk, such a hassle.

"$900 is better saved for bigger 16:9 screens with qd-oled… IF you can wait a couple years. There's also the 48" 120hz oled screens which are $1100 (and have been $1050)"
Again I think you are in the group of "the more expensive the screen, the bigger it should be". No thanks, I'm a computer user, I don't want a TV on my desk. Rather than a big monitor, I want a set up of 2-3 monitors so I can KVM (one of mine is Gigabyte M28Q) for work, and the other screens for home using. And I'm an HODLer of GPU already and really don't like the wait for another technology product.

"For me I want a WFH screen right now so I'll buy the s2722qc then wait a couple years for a 40" qd oled. Rather than buy something inbetween that costs too much and isn't the all-in-one WFH and gaming monitor that I want."
For me G3223Q is the all-in-one WFH and gaming monitor that I want. 144Hz, sweet spot and still relevant (not the 240-360Hz which tbh I can't take advantage of). 4K, needless to say. IPS, yeah I hate TN and VA (OLED is nice but still not convince me to pay 300-500 more for it). 32', big but enough for me not to sit 2m away of my desk, and competitive gaming is still okay (24-27' is ideal for FPS, 32' is already stretching so I don't want more). The only thing I miss is the KVM feature but I already had one KVM monitor so yeah spec-wise I love this screen personally.

In conclusion, I guarantee with you that the G3223Q is not overpriced, rather opposite since you can't find any other monitor cheaper than it and still tick all the specs like it. All those "40/43/48 inch" from your comment is enough to say that you want big screen for big price, and yeah it's not wrong either, just different market. Like how we view those 240-360Hz IPS monitor with 1-2 grands pricing. Is it expensive? Yes. Overpriced? Depends u can utilize the ultra high refresh rate or not.

This will be your last opportunity to pick up an item at the current prices as they will be increasing for the next promo in May as a result of the Chinese supply chain issues.

    Thank you sir, noted 👍

  • Thanks DellBot :) Got a 12900k on your last deal, still waiting for it to arrive hopefully not long now.

    • +1

wow, thats was last month, still waiting for it?

      • Yes ordered during last months deal. This current deal has a delivery of "Estimated between Fri, 20 May and Fri, 27 May" so it's a month away also.

      • FWIW, I ordered a laptop on 23/3 and got it delivered 5/4

  • +1

Any good reviews on the G3223D?

No rtings or hardware unboxed :(

Been holding out for the M32Q but this seems like an amazing deal.

  • +4

Ugh… Still waiting for S2721DGF to go below $400. Looks like it's not going to happen anytime soon.

    • +13

I tried pushing but it’s not going to happen unfortunately.

      • +3

        Appreciate your effort, good sir.

        • +11

I might have some good news soon.

          • +1

            @Taegukgi: Legend!

Too bad I went in too quickly and bought G3223Q instead.

I'm sure others will be very excited to hear the good news too!

    • +3

at what point do you just decide to bite the bullet and buy it? $429 on previous deals, seems to be $449 on this one - is it worth holding out for something that probably won't happen to save $30 bucks vs. the enjoyment you would get out of having it?

      • +5

Well that's not the ozbargain way now is it? :P

        • +2

Since when is holding out the OzBargain way? I'm deducting OzBargain points from you.

    • That monitor is honestly worth around $500. I'd jump at $450 or below if I needed a new one.

  • Any suggestions on monitors? Below $400?. Not for gaming.

    • +2

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/334047776672

might be good option assuming the discount brings it down to $348.8 and you want 4k

Check again on the day and find either S2721D or S2721DS, see if you can find them sub $250. Those are good QHD monitors.

  • +1

Dell S2721DGF going on sale too?

  • Is the S2721DGF a higher tier than the new G3223D?

Not sure on the S v G series.

    • +1

S series is home and office use as per Superuser. I could not find information on G series though. Maybe it is a quite new monitor lineup.

Both are IPS panel, QHD, 165Hz. Only difference I see is the size and USB-C connectivity.

  • Thanks OP, are there any other good deals on the XPS 8950 coming as well?

    • There is an 8950 linked in the original post.

  • What's the chances to see better monitor deals EOFY sales?

    • +2

Given that dealbot has already said prices will go up next month …. I doubt it

  • So ShopBack gives another 3%? effectively making this 23% off?

    • +2

You can buy instant gift cards at 3% discount. So that means 3% after taking the 20% off. Aka 22.4% off :)

      • Oh okay thanks mate 👍

  • S2721QS shows $436 while in the last sale it was $375. Any chance it comes down to $375 on Friday?

  • +1

@Dealbot Will the S3222DGM be part of this deal ??

    • If it's in the Dell ebay store now then it will be part of the promo.

  • +2

do I need new pc? No

    is bank account healthy? No

    would I buy it? Yes

    lol

    Thanks op

  • +1

Does the Dell s2721dgf still exist, I bought 1 laadt year and want one another to match but don't see it on sale ever anymore

  • +1

All that specs on the XPS with only 1x display port and no hdmi output, rather stingy :(

    • +3

That would just be the motherboard port right? The 3080 would have its own hdmi/display ports.

    • +1

Fyi DP can be daisy chained across monitors if you didn't know🤔

  • What's the best for someone studying uni and connecting via a MacBook Air? Doesn't really need to be higher than 1440p or 60fps.

    • S2722DC is the cheapest on offer but it's not super compelling.
      $424 right now, ~$339 after 20% discount.

  • +1

This makes me feel good about impulse buying the AW3423DW. lol

  • Any stock on G3223Q ?

  • I want to buy the G3223Q but it's currently out of stock on eBay , will there be any coupon code for the dell website too? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

  • +1

    Prices increasing?
I spose we won't see a Dell deal posted for a while, because it'll be more expensive and as such is not a bargain

    :)

  • Does anyone know if there's a non-curved monitor at 144hz? I wanna upgrade my portrait monitor into a 144hz (or even 120hz is fine) one but most of them are curved monitors 🤔

Up for considering curved monitors if y'all know they look okay in portrait mode! Ideally 27" or larger

    • +2

S2721DGF is a 27inch, QHD, 165Hz, ISP flat monitor. Not on sale atm though

      • Yea, big sad. Really looking forward to it

    • G3223D above it's 144Hz I believe, if u are fine with 2k 32 inch monitor.

      • Ty for pointing this out! Didn't know about this model (although prolly not gonna buy lol likely exxy haha)

  • Alright this may be a very dumb question but if I use a USB C to USB C cable to connect my Macbook Air M1 to the monitor, it will work without an HDMI connection? If so, will it charge aswell? Because my previous monitor there was no USB ports I just used supplied HDMI to HDMI to connect to desktop.

    • +1

It will work without HDMI connection if you directly connect laptop and monitor using C to C cable using USB-C Alt mode DisplayPort 1.4. But I am not sure if it charges the laptop at the same time though. If you want to charge the laptop at the same time, you might consider a small usb C dock with HDMI and USB C PD (passthrough).

    • +1

Upon checking, S2722QC supports 65W charging through USB-C connected device. It will charge and display at the same time. I am still not sure on G3223D as there is no mention on the page.

    • The USBc connection @65w is all you need to both charge an MBA and run the display.

  • -6

I really don't like dell. Lol

  • -1

Recently spent 3k on a gaming laptop, what’s the best 4K 144hz monitor available around the $500 mark. Will have to liquidate some CBA shares if it’s over a thousand.

    • Can't think of any IPS 4k 144Hz at 500$, Gigabyte M28U is 799 (really good one tho, can check Hardware Unboxed review for it, they put it as the best monitor of all the monitors they reviewed in 2021). Or if you want 32 inch, M32U is 959$.

      • Probably also need HDMI 2.1 on your computer too. Bandwidth issues. Might be better to step down to 2K.

      • -1

I don’t really trust gigabyte as a brand after all the horror stories with their PSUs exploding hahaha and their GPU quality as well. But I’ll check it out anyways thanks.

      • How does the G3223Q compare with the M32U, worth $100 less? Do you think these are a good choice for someone using both console and PC?

  • This Dell xps 8950 is good for photo and video editing?

    • +3

It's top of the range intel CPU with a very powerful GPU.

It will be excellent for photo and video editing, however any $1000 - $2000 PC deal that comes up often from one of the PC stores will also be just fine. Dell warranty should be more convenient to deal with though.
A PC with a intel 12700, 12700k, or 12700kf would be at least 95% as fast as this, and probably much cheaper. From AMD a 5700 or 5800x CPU will also be close.

If you aren't playing games you can pull out the 3080 altogether and sell it for at least $1000. This CPU is not an F series so it has a built in graphics chip.

      • Thank you so much for your reply, I dont play games and only planning to use for photo and 4k video editing.
Will check i7 deals, prefer dell for their warranty.
