No stock anywhere at this point or only in the smaller denominations. Even with the concurrent deals at woolies and aldi this week. Not to mention converting the TCN cards to apple ones at JB is very hit and miss. So definitely about 10x the effort required compared to this ebay deal, but oh well.

Have a read through the comments on these two posts. Definitely won't be an easy peasy process, and that's if you're lucky enough to find stock at your local store (ones around me are all cleared out). But what you wrote is pretty much the process: buy 4x $100 card at Coles, go to JB and use those to buy $400 apple gift cards (if they actually allow you), then just add those to your apple account for the final airpod purchase.
If you only wanted the airpords, what are some suggestions to buy with the $80 apple credit? I don't use apple music etc.

I managed to get the airpods, I monitored @dealbot's posts on the facebook page (see the link in their profile) which was updated before ozbargains so I was well prepared for when the deal dropped.
I had the MacApp store open. Kept refreshing all day and never saw anything but the iPad. Figured the AirPods never got listed, then saw the conversation here saying everyone has been buying them and 700 sold 🙁
