Amazing. So before the business name and ABN were even registered, 4 reviews appeared within a period of 3 days and the rep is claiming they weren't involved and people actually think that might be true!?

  • +3

Seems rather dodgy to me. Another Epic Broadband…

    • We're definetely not dodgy, but each to their own. You dont need to switch :)

  • I like the transparency of OP. But being a ozbargainer, I should recommend you all to go with more.com.au if you have a CBA account. It's just $83 per month for 250mbps for an year. And also comes with free FTTP upgrade.

    • Totally agree here, that is an awesome deal for anyone that is with CBA. If they can take the loss it might be worth the awesome discount for 12 months.

    • More couldn't connect my internet after 3 days of troubleshooting. Would not recommend

      • Frustrating :( its usually pretty simple, theres either an issue with NBN, or theres a config issue on the network side of the ISP. Its basically just process of elimination to get someone up and running in most complex cases.

  • Do you provide services on opticomm?

    • +1

Unfortunately not yet, once Opticomm answer our calls and an account manager responds to us we will be connecting up but.

      • Please do advertise once you get hooked up with opticomm..
        Cheers!!

  • -1

    Any plans for 250/50?

    • +3

Not much we can do in that space unfortunately due to NBN only having a 250/25 product available.

  • Hi ZoomBB, can we delay 30ish days to get away from Exetel with this deal?

    • +1

Yeah, you can signup and then send an email to [email protected] instantly after with your member ID and advise of the date you want to be activated on.

  • My belong connection auto downgrades speeds for some time, if more than 8 devices connect to wifi.

Do you have these kind of limits with numbers of wifi devices at home ?

    • We dont have any limits on the amount of devices you can connect to a wifi AP nor do we throttle any devices across our Wifi router.

    • That just sounds like you have a dodgy router, nothing to do with Belong (ok well if they supplied it then sure it has something to do with them)

    • Sounds more like a problem with your home network than the ISP. I have 9 devices connected via wifi and 6 through ethernet with no slow down from any ISP.

    • +4

Do you have an IP address or end network i could tracert to for you now?

  • +1

Been with Telstra for 7-8 years and made the switch just now.
Got switched over within 30 minutes, support’s really active even at midnight. Hope the service can keeps up like this.

Speedtest: 252/21.3 on first attempt. Really happy about it.

    • Awesome to have you on-board. We're going to work as hard as possible to continue this level of service as it's what we do best :)

    • Can I ask you a favour. Do you mind doing a speed test to Afrihost in South africa. Would like to know the results.

      • +1

3 tests. Downloads were ok. Upload is miserable.

        https://imgur.com/a/uGsPjXO

        • Awesome thanks, man… Wanted to go to the 250/25 as I don't upload that much (currently on 100/40) but that upload is horrible… The download is awesome and the ping is around the same.

  • Why aren't you using IPoE ? pppoe is just terrible

    • At the moment PPPoE is the best way to manage the network, issue IP's and track consumption where as IPoE is a little less robust and harder to keep track of things.

We will potentially dual stack in the future.

      • Thanks, look forward to the dual stack in the future

  • I am currently with Vodafone NBN HFC, If I sign up to one of your plans does everything happen automatically or do I have to call and cancel with Vodafone first?
I've never changed NBN providers before.

    • We would take care of the churn for you, but it's always best to call Vodafone after you're active with us an confirm that they have closed your account as the bigger telco's seem to not care when services churn away and they just keep billing.

  • Also: what are you typical evening speeds for both the 250/25 and 500/50?

    • 246Mbps Download & 19Mbps Upload
      493Mbps Download & 43Mbps Upload

  • Still got a few months left on my CBA More deal otherwise would consider the switch.

    • +1

We will have more deals out most likely over the next few months. Keep an eye out for them as we go.

  • I’m with ABB at the moment, how easy is it to port over and does a technician need to go out or is it as easy as porting a mobile service?

    • +1

No technician needed, just make the switch and tell aussiebb you want to cancel.
With FTTP you need to tell you previous ISP you want out too.

      • What if I’m going from FTTC to FTTP?

  • +1

Hi Shane, last night you offered the 500/50 plan for $113.90. A few people responded asking how to get the plan for this price. Are you able to assist? I am definitely interested and will sign up today.

    • Same for me, awaiting response and I will also sign up

      • Hey guys, this plan will be coming out directly on OZB tomorrow if you DM me in the mean time i can send you the code.

        • Hi there,

Signed up last night to this deal after I enquired online about the code for the 500 plan. I was told that it was coming next week and there was nothing they could do?? can you please swap my account over the 500 plan under this deal given this change?

  • Really interested to become a 500/50 Customer although the CGNAT really gets to me, with home CCTV it just doesn't work.
I hope you can bring back this deal once your cgn has a opt-out.

    • I hear you, we're definetely working on a solution here. Waiting on a new IPv4 range to mature.

  • im thinking of going with the spintel nbn 100/20 for 6 months, whilst putting in my order with zoom and get them to activate the service just before the 6 month promo expires.

  • I just signed up and Dave entered the code manually for me with the excellent chat service that auto pops up as you are signing up

  • Does zoom use
    IPoE (DHCP / Automatic IP)?

    • They are using PPPoE.

      • +1

        Sad and inferior option

        • +1

What's the downside. Low latency or more bandwidth?

          • @BargainBuddy: Lower MTU, packet fragmentation, slight PPPoE overhead, not as Plug n' Play, less compatible devices, more support cost (assisting end users over the phone takes longer). It does save on IP address wastage and allows for dispersed IP allocation.

  • Does Zoom offer the FTTP upgrade program?

This is where if you currently have FTTC in a given suburb, you can get a free infrastructure upgrade to FTTP if you order a high speed (250mbps or above) plan.

  • On the website now, how do you access 100/40 nbn plan?

  • Any deals for FTTB?

  • Very very interested (either 100/40 or 500/50) but need to have the CGNAT opt out so what to do?

    • Pay the $5 for a static ip?

      • You think that would work? Serious question. I am newbie when it comes to networking.

Would that make my internet easier to get hacked because the IP is going to be the same all the time?

If that's all it took, I'd love to take up this deal. CGNAT is a big deal for me.

        • +3

If they are providing you with a static external IP then it won't be going through CGNAT. Any traffic destined for your IP will be routed directly to your router. (your router may still have a private IP address, but the mapping will be 1 to 1 between the external IP and your router, unlike CGNAT where an external IP is used by multiple internal private IP addresses).

As for easier to hack… well, possibly, but the most risky aspect is port scanning across ranges of IP addresses to fingerprint your system and apply a known vulnerability, which is going to find you even if your IP is dynamic…most tools are totally automated for this. In this case, CGNAT is actually safer, as unrequested incoming connections will just be dropped at the NAT router. Personally I find the convenience of a static IP much greater than the risk. I don't have to faf around with dynamic dns or anything.

          • @Fybre: So the ISP will provide the Static IP and I just have to configure it within my gateway router to point to the Static IP being provided yes?

I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the tips! :-)

  • Anyone have any real world feedback with international latency? Currently with spintel and although speed tests are really high, internet just feels slow and not snappy like my old ISP

  • Very good deal, even cheaper than superloop 250/25 after they gave me a $15 discount on the $119/m. Very tempted to switch.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I just swapped from AussieBB.

    For everyone else
BLACKFRIDAY100 works on 100/20Mbps, I just used it
    $73.90 per month

  • Interested, any deals for the gigabit plan?

  • -2

I have a 250mbp/ 100mbps uploads FTTP for 158 a month if you can match 100mbps uploads for 93 then I am sold. 25mbps uploads is a joke.

    • Where are you getting that from, at the moment?

  • i'm looking to keep costs down. i know it's not on the site, but would zoom offer a 25/5 plan?

  • Just signed up. Hope it would be a good experience!

  • +1

Is it possible to place an order to commence at a future date to take advantage of this offer?

  • Hey @zoombroadband, just wondering what the benefit is choosing Zoom's 250/25 over More Broadband's offering? Trying to compare and decided between the 2.

  • +1

Signed up for the 250/25 plan at 3.52pm, only update was an sms at 3.52pm confirming order received and its been downhill from there. 5.07pm chat agent engaged to get service activated, email address updated (which took over 15 mins for some reason), then emails came through but PPPoE details were missing.

5.41pm service activated but still don't have my PPPoE details which means I cannot use the service.

Just in case if someone is wondering how is the customer service. @zoombroadband FYI

    • No Service yet ? bit of a fail right there :o

      • We're working as hard as we can to get through all problems, issues, queries and support. We did not expect anywhere near as many people to signup to this offer as we have had. I apologise for this.

        • +2

So you came to ozbargain with your product offering and did not expect to be ozbargained!

There is no excuse for poor service, especially when only offering support through chat where the agents take ages to respond and close requests.

          • -2

@vaibhavkapoor: We have had a team meeting about the closing chats, unfortunately all of our team were under the pump and we had so many customers that it was causing mental stress to the team and the team leader told the staff to close off chats if they are not being treated fairly.

            Shane.

    • +1

After an hour over chat the account was still not active so i requested just cancel the whole thing as its not worth my time.

Interestingly updating an email address took more than 10 mins but cancellation took only 2.mins.

      • Thanks for the update

  • @zoombroadband wanting to upgrade to fttp but you don’t seem to be on the list from NBN and participating retailer
    https://www.nbnco.com.au/residential/upgrades/fttp-upgrade-w…

Also do you charge fee to downgrade within 12 months?

  • +2

Pretty Sure Zoom is owned by the same company who went into administration EPIC Broadband and customers lost internet without notice because they didn't pay their Vocus bill. Surely they should of learned the first time.

    • -1

Not affiliated with Epic, but this information is incorrect.

      • +2

"Not affiliated but you're wrong" Mmmhmm.

    • We're not affiliated with Epic Broadband. And Epic Broadband collapsing had nothing to do with an unpaid bill to Vocus. The story runs far deeper.

      Shane.

  • I spoke to an online chat agent called "Luke". There was no greeting like "Hello" or even "Hi". He was a straight shooter… pretty much yes sir, no sir three bags full.

    • Yep, luke is pretty straight forward.

  • @zoombroadband Why would my 100/40 have an upload of 14mb to South Africa (Afrihost) and your connection of 250/25 only get like 0.6mb? Can't think that 25 vs 40mb upload makes that much difference. I did use the chat on the zoom site but the person said the ping should be around 100 and I just knew they didn't have an idea what they talking about.

    • Hi there, we dont offer 100/40 services at current only 100/20 so you would likely be on the 100/20 plan. 14Mbps is actually quiet good on a 20Mbps link, thats 75% of the capacity being consumed between you and an international location… We will be introducing a high upload product soon, potentially take a look at that.

      • @zoombroadband The 100/40 was on my Superloop connection. With that I got 14mb upload. I moved to you last night and now I'm on the 500/50mb connection and my upload speed is 0.6mb… Huge difference and if I can't resolve this I would have to cancel and move back to Superloop. I did email the this to your support as you mentioned someone will investigate the bad speeds of some of the connections. Even my local download and ping is not that good for a 500mb connection.

  • +2

After changing over to 500/50 I'm now getting speeds of 80/40 and they can't work out what the problem is. No phone tech support either, it's painful to do via chat on your mobile phone. I've had speeds of 250/40 before so it's not like my handware and cables can't handle it. I'm hoping I haven't made a mistake here…..

    • +2

      Red flags here and here

Please let us know how it works out.

    • We have found the problem here was being caused by PPPoE, we're now in the process of switching our customers across to IPoE (DHCP) to eliminate the issue.

      Shane.

  • Just switched 2 accounts and have been waiting hours to connect. Not like the email says, "Usually services are activated in under 60 minutes"

    • Mine took about 4 hours

      • oh great

    • We had some issues over the weekend with our automatic provisioning queue which has now been resolved and orders are flowing through correctly.

      Shane.

  • Lucky I didn’t sign up. Has anyone done their due diligence on this company ?

    • When signing up we offer a full page of information about how we operate under the summarised terms and condition button. We are an Australian based company setup out of Fortitude Valley in QLD. Our ABN is 99 663 007 949, we've just recently launched and we're working hard to service all of our clients. If you need any further assistance feel free to post again and we will comment as we can.

  • Yea when I signed up with Superloop it was almost instant.. Signed up last night and still no details. OP might be responsive to some questions but that seems about as good as it gets.
