[SUBS] Top Gun Maverick Coming to Paramount Plus December 23 @ Paramount Plus

1070

I usually wouldn't post subscription related deals, but this movie is too good not to share. It's finally coming to streaming, Paramount have confirmed that Top Gun Maverick will hit Paramount Plus on December 22 :)

Get 2 Months for $2.99 Here or 50% off the Annual Subscription here to watch it.

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of TOP GUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”

Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

Also possible 1 to 7 months for US$0.49 (A$0.72) via Sportsline - It will require VPN/DNS to watch.

      What

      • I was about to edit my comment to make it more clear, now I can't.

Basically 72c offer is for one month, but they will most likely offer 6 months for free when trying to cancel.

    • That's contrary to what they state here.

Which SportsLine subscribers are eligible for a free Paramount+ subscription?

SportsLine subscribers who pay full price for a subscription are eligible to receive a free 30-day trial to Paramount+. If you paid a promotional price or are on a free trial, you will not be eligible for a free 30-day trial to Paramount+ until you are charged the normal, full amount for your SportsLine subscription. For example, if you paid a reduced price for the first quarter of a quarterly subscription, you won't have access to Paramount+ using your SportsLine subscription until you pay the normal quarterly price of $24.99 the next time you are billed.

      • Not sure if that’s true or it has changed very recently. I myself have 18 months of membership (for 48c or something) and I can stil access Paramount plus. Also only few days ago they had US$10 for whole year offer and those users also got Paramount plus access. See this link

How's the picture and audio quality on Paramount +?
Worth grabbing on Blu-ray instead for a first watch?

They are offering Dolby vision and atmos on my US sub. Not sure about the AU sub.

      • +2

Its only two channels here in Aus

        • That sucks, worth getting annual US sub for A$30 then, if you are paying for AU sub.

        • It's primarily a VOD service here, like Netflix
Initially limited HDR and Atmos content, but they seem to be upgrading more and more content

          • +1

@UltimateAI: Sorry I searched a lot, and failed to find any atmos or Dolby vision content, hence my comment. Please SpamMeNotinOz, any link for atmos content if possible. Thank you

              @kochi murali: I don't have it, but;
Halo, Dexter and Picard were Atmos and Dolby Vision for me via Sony TV. I was on the annual plan last year (ozbargain ios deal)

Read somewhere that you don't get 4k under a free, and have to be on a premium plan in the US.

PS: Often the Dolby Vision and Atmos didn't kick-in until after the introduction. Unsure if this was my internet.

The audio I haven't payed too close attention to, mostly because the video is very bad, much worse than Netflix, Prime, Disney or Stan for example. I don't know why the US version seems to have it better. I guess they have separate infrastructure for Australia.

I wouldn't use Paramount+ to watch anything except old reality shows or stuff where I don't care about the bitrate. I'm pretty snobbish about this kind of stuff, but when there are other services doing it way better it's easy to complain. Blu-ray or getting it on iTunes or something is the answer for this one.

    Reeeeeeee

They re filmed Return of the Jedi in planes (found a vulnerability in the Death Star), mixed in with 20% footage of the original, the remainder is the original plot re filmed (just different sport..different piano player)…and made multi millions!

Well played… "Maverick..Return of the Top Gun"

one of the year's best films by far

      Genre: Comedy

Worth mentioning, as it is an absolute brilliant family movie.

    • That's a good point for parents who may be wondering. Unlike the original in that regard.

    • What makes it a family movie
Or simply: it can be watched by all ages/interests?

  • +10

There's only one good Tom Cruise movie - Edge of Tomorrow, where Emily Blunt gets to kill him over and over.

  • Heres me thinking there wasnt a person alive who hadn't seen it at the movies or downloaded via torrent or newsreader. Months ago.
    Clearly wrong

I thought the movie was pretty poxy, basically a baby boomer’s wet dream. The flight scenes were decent but.

Each to their own I guess.

I aged an extra 10 years during the couple of hours I watched this at the cinema. Even though some of the 'young' actors are nearly my age.

    • The story is silly. But they flying is awesome. Best movie this year. For some time. Look at the dreck offered up this Christmas.

Thought I removed the ability to see subs stuff or does that not apply when it's highlighted?

    • +1

I’ve done it repeatedly, along with blocking a couple of poisonous users. But the coding here is borked.

Edit: just checked, yep, blocked. This still showed.

    Terrible storyline. 2/5

Don't care about the subscription but the movie was awesome. Much better than the first, which I never realised was so boring until I re watched it recently.
Love the acting and real visuals in Maverick. Awesome movie.

    • Most old movies seem dated.

But this is just a copy-paste paint-by-numbers formula. And at least the cheese in the original is because of its era. Every minute of this was designed.

I didn't expect much of this film, thought it was ok in the end, don't get the hype at all.

  • this movie for me was an awesome throwback to the golden age of cinema, a blockbuster film that actually feels like one. Part of its appeal is actually watching it at a proper cinema, streaming on your pc or even your 81" home tv isn't gonna be the same. I actually paid to watch this movie at the cinema 3 times, 2 times were with very discounted tickets - i still enjoyed it each time.

I'm actually into my mid thirties - it seems the general consensus is that the 'woke' generation Y-Zs may not appreciate this nearly as much. My wife who's in her mid twenties did say this was her movie of the year.

    • Yeah definitely wished I watched it at the cinemas
