      What

    • +6

Go check your eyes or check your computer. Definitely not the problem of 60hz

        • +1

that refresh rate only relate to the content on your screen, for text you cannot tell the different. In fact most of the people including many so called tech don't understand how this works, your source device have to be fast enough to display 60Hz on 60hz monitor, you won't get 60hz with slower video card including expensive Apple macbook.

          • +1

@leetec: Not saying 60hz is bad, but anything moving (scrollling on ozbargain included) looks better in high refresh. But if you don't notice then you don't notice.

            • @zorrt: that's true, but that's look nicer nothing to do with your eye's health. Same 8k nicer than 4k and 4k nicer than FHD but nothing to help your eyes strain or whatever. In fact, if not for motion picture like gaming, video, investing money on 4K, IPS, Nano IPS will look much better than 60+hz.

@leetec: Tbh what you just written bears zero relevance to the question I asked, I'm confused.
Anyway, I wanted to have a meaningful chat about this topic.. sigh
I do have bit of work around the house so wont be here (judging by the votes) to defend my point that 60hz is just bad and people do your self and your eyes a favour and go 75hz+!

          • -1

@leetec: An Apple Macbook will not drive the screen as they were released in 2015. The earlier release Macbook from 2006 is also incapable.

Maybe for the CRTs that people used to have 30 years ago.

      • -2

Right! They were horrible! Funny thing is that it was all we had back then, so nothing to compare it with. As the tech progressed I got a 2nd hand flat crt 75htz monitor for a small fortune that changed my life.

        • LEDs don't ficker the same way though.

          • @clx: No where near, I have PTSD just thinking about CRT 60hz. Which make me thinks, maybe some people are just more sensitive to refresh rate. Same goes for fps, 30fps is playable but not really comfortable for the eyes.

    • This is an exceptional monitor for the money, for business / home use and for those happy with single player or 60fps games.

It's very very good for the money. I wish I never got my 1300 dollar Dell to be honest, the difference is negligible

Do you get eyestrain when watching movies and TV shows too? They're often 24 or 30 (technically 29.97) fps. A lot of video games (especially older ones) are 30fps too.

LCD (and similar) screens don't flicker like old CRTs did, so refresh rate shouldn't cause eyestrain.

$559 at JB. Or get yourself a Costco membership and get it delivered from Costco. Nice find OP.

  • What's Costco's return policy on monitors. Read a few comments on some people having issues with dead pixels.

    • Costco you can return anything unlimited time basically. No need for a reason. It's One of the biggest reasons people buy from them even if the price is the same or slightly higher. Bought my last few TVs there for that reason as a sort of warranty.

      • Thank you. I am just a bit worried about on the Web site, it says 90 days (for return). Good to know Costco has great warranty service.

        • oh I'm sorry they must have changed it. Please follow what website says. Although 90 days probably enough for dead pixels

      • +3

This used to be the case, but it’s changing due to abuse of the generous returns policy!

        • thanks I had no idea they changed it

        • In the USA, they only changed it for large electronics and appliances. Everything else is still essentially unlimited.

I use Costco exactly for this reason. Only way I can afford a new TV every Xmas.

Amazon have this for $462 since black friday sale, if combines with 10% off Aldi gift card offer plus $20 cash back offer that's very good price. I was looking at this one some days already, but didn't pull the triger, hopfuly Dell can put up a attractive deal next monday.

personal preference perhaps, but for working with documents and photos 32 non-curved is a tad too large

with Dell S2722QC I found the golden ratio for me (27”, 4k), any larger or wider and I have to go curved, and I tried that and went back to 27" flat

    • +3

I just couldn't do 4k on a 27" you end up scaling to 150% which just brings you back to qhd real estate. Sure it's a little sharper on text but qhd is pretty sharp already.

I'm using a 34" flat ultrawide, I'd say maybe it's the widest I'd go at about 90cm away from my eyeball 32" would be fine imo, since it trades the width for height

      • I agree that 27" QHD is also good enough for working with documents, my case involves editing photos, bumping up resolution to 4k is very welcome there

    • +1

I have it and it's fine, I detest curves.

However I'll concede, I couldn't go much larger without a curve

    • +1

Why not put the monitor further away? I used to using 55" LG OLED TV as monitor, sitting a bit more than 1 metre away, love it. Now wife don't let me do it, have to use 27" 4k, really suxk.

      • Why is your wife making decisions for you?

        • +1

it actually was an upgrade from his wife's boyfriend making those decisions

  • Are these good for gaming?

    • I’d suggest a (2560x1440) monitor with a higher refresh rate if it was exclusively for gaming at this price point, but if you’re not only gaming and this is mixed-use, this would be perfectly adequate for gaming.

If you go a little bit higher, a 4K 120hz+ display will be great for gaming provided you have a GPU that can drive it. That’s what I have myself

    • This might be suitable for you! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/744892

  • Any idea if this model support "daisy chain"?

Please excuse me if I used the wrong terminology.

    • It doesn’t appear to have a DisplayPort out, so probably not

Terminology is perfect. One note: macs don’t support DisplayPort daisy chaining for whatever reason in case you use them. I’ve liked it when using it with my desktop though

    • No, it doesn't. This is USB-C/alt-mode. It doesn't support USB-C/alt-mode MST either.

      No DisplayPort daisy chaining either.

  • should i buy this or Dell 27 4K UHD Monitor - S2721QS for wfh? my current set up is 1 x Dell S2721H and 1 x Dell S2721DS on dual monitor arm.

    • +1

If you have any devices with USB-C out (laptop, steam deck, etc) or plan to buy one in the next couple of years, I’d say the Lenovo one has the clear edge because it can act as a USB-C dock

Otherwise, both look pretty good! I’m glad 4K 32”s are getting to this price point
