    True bargain! Bought 10

    • +8

      Might as well buy 20.

    • +3

Have fun using a nuclear powerplant to power all of those !

      • +4

        It's pronounced "nuke-u-ler".

        "Nuke-u-ler".

  • +2

Good deal, will be oos soon

  • +42

    Clown World GPU edition.

    • +1

      Bozo Edition 🤡

  • +12

    doesn't look very Colorful

    • +8

      Wait till it starts melting

      • So not RGB than?

  • +15

Thanks bought five of them because I didn't want to be able to eat, but wanted to see more frames on a video game at 4K.

    • +6

      Aka the scalper diet

      • +3

        Mmmm, scalp.

    • +2

Are there actual games where you could actually SEE the difference in FPS at 4k? Compared to the next fastest cards? As in, without an FPS counter on the screen?

      MS flight Sim, maybe…?

      • +1

        Cyberpunk with RT at 4K.

  • +1

The cooler is basically over-engineered across all the different brands right? So this performancing slightly worse than the FE shouldn't be a major compromise. Mind you I don't know how it compares with the VRM setup.

    • +3

Pretty much any 4090 will deliver 4090 performance. In fact, moving most 4090s to 600W does almost nothing for performance. Better off if you do buy this to try and move the power slider down a bit and keep it more quiet.

  • +3

so annoyed that here doesn’t sell FE, the only 4090 that can be fit into my case

    • +2

Will the founder’s edition ever be sold in Australia, and if so, when?

      • +2

Wish I know :( but the oz market is just so small that I don’t think they will plan that

      • +9

Nope. FE got canned since RTX 20 series down under. When I mean canned, I mean a constant supply of stock wasn't readily available.

MWave did have RTX 30 series FE cards, but only a few thousand, even then the few thousand they had were part of a raffle, so you couldn't just buy one if you wanted one, you had to get drawn for the opportunity to buy one. But considering the mass shortage we had, this system made sense at the time, I'm not faulting MWave for this at all, they did the best they could.

As for 20 series, I believe a few retailers did have 20 series FE stock but it largely dried up after 1-2 months with no further FE models being available until 20 SUPER cards dropped their own FE models.

As for 10 series, there were FE cards available here for quite a while. Can't say specifically how long but I remember being able to put one in my cart till I settled on an EVGA 1080 FTW (the ones that had problems in the end with capacitors).

We will probably never get FE cards ever for RTX 40 series. Mainly because the BOM cost of an FE card is a lower margin than an AIB card for NVIDIA. Not to mention they'll always only make a certain amount of FE cards and they'll push them to the larger markets like the US or EU before us to ensure that customers have supply. We're just too small a market for NVIDIA to really care about shipping us FE cards. If you really want an FE card, import it or find the smallest AIB card because they'll never officially come here in any real capacity that you'll be able to buy it.

I personally don't care for FE cards, although they look nice and are very well designed and have the best price as they stick to MSRP, they also have problems with maintaining enough of them even in the bigger markets in terms of supply, so you might as well just shop around for an AIB card anyways. FE is really for day 1 purchasers who are lucky.

        • +3

Few thousand (3080 FE)? Last I remember mwave had like two dozen of them up for raffle and half of them the staff bought themselves.

          • @JerraJones: I don't know the exact amount, but on closer investigation you're right, it wasn't 1000 cards. My mistake. But who knows maybe it was less than 100 or over 100, but this looks like more than 24 cards to me in total: https://twitter.com/MwaveAu/status/1314424478550511618. But that is indeed a mix of 3090 and 3080 FE's. So yeah maybe 24 in total 3080's.

They never gave a list, but I remember it being more for some reason. My memory was wrong.

            • @KARMAAA: Funnily enough you can still buy 3090ti FE from amazon for a bargain of 3k!

But yeah FE is definitely dead in aus/nz.

    • +7

If you can afford a 3k GPU couldn't you just buy a new case?

      • +1

Well its an itx so just trying to fit it as possible as I can. If not then still won’t switch case

    • +1

Have a look at the MSI Ventus it seems to be the smallest partner card ( that’s not liquid cooled) will most likely fit.

      • +1

Good call. Didn’t notice MSI announced Ventus quietly. Had a look it’s longer than fe but thankfully height and thickness are good to fit. Will give it a go! thx!

        • No worriers, I'm waiting till it has a sale hopefully something soon but was surprised how small it was compared to others

  • +40

    Nvidia is the scalper now

    • At least it's a real GPU unlike their 4080 which is really a 4070, going by their past CUDA core counts to flagship cards.

    • +2

Well doesn't help that the australian dollar has been from 62 - 67 cents to the American dollar. Those nuclear submarines are going to be very expensive lol.

      • +1

Don't worry they said they would be ready in 40 years

  • +8

Worth more than my mighty BA Falcon

    • +3

My first car was $2350 used in 1994. But probably worth 20x that now. The world got weird.

      • +1

My first car was a 1982 escort panel van. To this day I still miss it. Paid $2000 for it.

  • +4

No free shipping btw. On the exclusions list.

    • Hahaha WTF 😂

      Now that's some greed.

  • +18

I mean, if I was dropping three grand on a graphics card, I wouldn't touch Colorful with a 10-foot barge pole.

    • +4

Amen. Not that they are a "bad" brand, but when you're spending more than some used cars…

      • +1

The depreciation on a card is wild too

  • +2

High end new gen got more sales than high end old gen rn 💀

    • High end old gen doesn't even seem to exist anymore. :/ I really want a 24gb card for work but the only option seems to be 4090s.

      • +1
        • +1

Hrm I did kind of forget the Tis exist, though the (slightly) more affordable 3090s are the ones which don't seem to exist anymore since the 4090 came out.

        • I think I would get a 4080 instead of the 3090, more bang and less power.

          • +1

@Typo: It depends on the task, CodeExplode mentioned VRAM is important.

For my tasks (machine learning related) between 4080 and 3090ti I'd get 3090ti, larger models would not be able to run on 4080 at all due to lack of VRAM. Otherwise, 4080 looks better.

      • +1

Yeah any and all stock if you can even find it for the RTX 3080 and RX 6800 or better from the previous gen seems to be sitting on some wacky prices. Guess people are still paying these prices and there's no reason for retailers to drop them.

        • People were waiting for 4090 release and miners to dump.

Then the 4090 price was bonkers and too many miners are naively insisting crypto is just about to make a comeback and keeping their paperweights.

So a few more HODLers have lost patience.

          I can't blame them really.

  • +12

    Not permitted at Qatar

  • +54

Absolutely outstanding 2.70362% discount from near $3k RRP.

Can't understand why everyone isn't running these

    • +6

Lets be real here. RRP is '3k' but no one is selling them at the price, 4090s go for about 3.2k and up in all retailers. with that in mind this is a discount of a good several hundred bucks cheaper.

not that I will buy it of course but it is a discount to those however few want a 4090 at the price range they current sit at, nvidia is just messing with consumers rn because they have a near monopoly. once 7000 series drops in oz for good hopefully these can go down to a more reasonable price.

      • +12

once 7000 series drops in oz for good hopefully these can go down to a more reasonable price.

Not with that attitude. So long as everyone only wants AMD cards to exist so that their nvidia card is cheaper, then nvidia cards will continue to be more and more expensive. Everyone needs to stop buying nvidia if you want genuine competition (and genuinely good pricing).

        • +1

unfortunately amd is still lagging behind in productivity, so nvidia will have a market until the gaps filled, now i couldn't care about the companies themselves (keep in mind guys, these are all international corporations that just want your money) but if Amd makes a new gen where the productivity doesn't suck then ill have no reason to give nvidia any sliver of a doubt

      • +1

AMD also raised their prices, it won't make a dent in nvidia sales.

      • RT on and it's a 3080 Ti.

      • +1

Not trying to argue but if you genuinely believe it's a 'discount' then Australian retailers have already got it over on you, they sell above RRP and anyone seeing a discount from that price thinks it's 'good'…. bit backwards.

Australian resellers can jump off a cliff and so can Nvidia's stock price.

Agree re prices crashing when the 7000 series drops however.

        • I dont know if that re-prices gonna be noticeable. When the 900$ 6900xt deal on amazon is out, ppl screaming hold for 7900XT launch and BF deals. Both events are concluded now and price is just stay the same if not increasing.

  • +5

    I will pass.

    • +6

So will these ridiculous prices, and it won't take long.

      • GPUs are never going to be cheap again unfortunately. They have become a luxury item. $&(# you capitalism.

        • +4

Vote with your wallet. Just don't buy em and stay a gen behind. There are barely any games requiring the horsepower of a 4090 unless you want to play at 4k 100fps. Raytracing is not that impressive vs traditional baked lighting in most games.

Don't forget the value exists (and has always existed) in the mid range. 6600xt is available used for like $250. Can still easily build a solid gaming system for under 1k like the old days. Just don't get caught up in this hype/circle jerk that everyone has nowadays for having the latest and greatest system. Give it a few years and high fps 4k gaming will be possible without taking out a bank loan. Leave the high end sector to those with too many $$$ and no cents.

          • +1

@Canberralad92: Totally agree. Just missed a deal from mvawe for amd 6600xt for $399… Enjoying AC Black Flag, Yakuza 6 on my i5-9400, gtx760 2gb on 1080p monitor in a meantime. Still unsure whether I need to buy MSI Ventus rtx3060 ti to fit my case (limited clearance between cpu cooler and pci-e wi-fi card… about 45-50mm)… And yes I would agree I can't see that many games that will require 4090 currently. MS Flight Sim is good, but not on my to play list. Would be nice to try, but don't have much time to play balancing work, kids and life.

          • +1

            @Canberralad92: Its sense not cents..

Gaming compared to other hobbies like golfing, luxury watches, cars etc will always be cheap and affordable.

What other hobby can a normal person buy the top range that a billionaire can afford?

  • +1

    Deal of the day 😆

  • +8

Here we go again… $3k video cards.

  • +4

No hodl comments … I feel ripped off

  • +4

Now imagine the price if crypto was in vogue

  • +5

Don't forget, new AMD cards 13 DEC… Unless you absolutely have to buy now i'd wait until after their cards are out.

    • +6

Lol they will only cost a measly $1600-2000+… Only NVIDIA could make that seem like a 'bargain' …lol

      • +1

Here's me huffing hopium that they will be $1100-1400.

        • They will be when the 8900xtxtx and 5090 Super Ti are released

    • +2

if only they were releasing the 7800xt at the same time, $1500 is still too much for some people

      • +5

        some people

Basically everyone. I have a job, I can afford a 4090, but I'm not new to PC gaming. I owned a 3dfx Voodoo.

A flagship GPU was already a bit silly at $900, even with inflation.

It was triple the price for a lot less than triple the performance.

This is more than triple THAT ridiculous price.

        Just no. Not even close.

        • You've sort've contradicted yourself here. You can afford one but won't pay the price. Plenty of us think it's ridiculous but don't really want to lose more sleep wondering and watching prices vs just buying and enjoying…

          • +1

@drprox: for me the 4090 is 3x the price of my build, id honestly rather upgrade to a 3070ti/3080 over anything 40 series, and if Amd can actually be competent in productivity then that'd be great

    • +1

Do you think the 4090 will drop in price considering the 7900XTX is competing with the 4080?

Only way I see it happening is if 4080 has a price cut to compete with the 7900 XTX and the gap between the 4080 and 4090 looks too absurd and nvidia brings down that price too (dont see it happening) since the top tier product usually goes with whatever price the vendor wants to sell it as.

      • -1

No price drops happening on 4090. NVIDIA made it a value card.

  • +4

Love these things, do an excellent job of catching fire!

  • +5

Does it come with free melted connectors?

    • +8

If you plug it in incorrectly it will.

    • +5

It's like you read the headline of a clickbait article and then stopped there….

    • +2

No. This is only meat. How they cook is left to customers.

  • +12

Great deal. Now I need a deal on a power supply that can power it, a deal on a motherboard that can sustain the weight, a case big enough to hold it and a good deal with an electricity provider (despite my area only having one energy provider to choose from). What a steal.

    • +3

      plays Minecraft

      • +2

        More like Minesweeper

        • More like Snake

    • +1

I feel like you'd also want a hell of a power surge protector and maybe an UPS since I hear losing power can damage video cards.

      • +2

surprised how little people have PSP in the first place, I got a powerpoint based one after a high-voltage line exploded and damaged my system, its a worthwhile investment

    • You also need the fastest processor so as to not bottleneck it.

  • -2

Does it come with a smoke detector?

  • At the total cost of a high end PC and this isn't even NVIDIAs top of the range card this worries me for future crap like this they keep pulling

    • +1

I thought the 4090 is NVIDIA's top of the range card?

      • +4

The 4090 is a cut down card, there's still about 5-10% headroom which they'll use to launch the 4090ti for 4 grand.

Funny how xx80ti used to be the full die cards. Now both amd+nvidia are lowering their skus while raising prices.

        • +1

Titans used to be full die cards.

  • Hope this gives me l33t frames in Modern Warfare 2!

  • +1

Willing to trade my kidney for one..
