    Yawn

      Lol

  • Does anyone know if JB will price match the Telstra store?

    • Doubt it.

    • +2

I have tried previously. In short, no.

    • +3

Depends on the store and salesperson. Some will and some won’t. You have to get lucky

    • +3

They did match the black friday sale and I got a Pixel 7. Keep trying different stores and sales people. Ask to price match via online chat as well.

    • +1

In store if you can show them you have access to the price, then yes I did this with Pixel 6A for Black Friday

    • depends on the store and rep. We did it after verifying the customer was with Telstra.

    • what is the benefit of price match with JB?

      • +3

        Gift cards mostly.

    • Try instore, online agents will not.

    • +1

I managed to get it via JB the last deal.
First online chat agent did not do it , but calling the central line, the guy did it super easily.

    • It depends on the store. During black Friday sale, First one declined. second one did it happily.

      • I've only.got the one JB in my town. Fingers crossed they do it.

    • +1

I went into JB this morning and got the Telstra deal price matched. Did it as follows:

      1. Asked for the $69 Telstra plan (includes 100GB data and a $700 JB gift card)
      2. Asked if the gift card could be used to purchase a Pixel 7 phone, response was yes.
      3. Asked if they would price match the Pixel 7 deal that Telstra has, showing them the Telstra website. Sales person had a quick look and said, "Yes, no problems."
      4. 30 minutes later I walked out the store with a new Pixel 7, on the $69 Telstra plan (100GB month) and it only cost me $49 out of pocket.

      YMMV, but worked for me.

      • Whoaaaa which store mate

      • Pretty clever hack. Can you cancel the plan at any time, or how much over 12/24 months?
The plan is probably alright if you need one.. I've been getting great milage out of these Boost 365 day plans for around $150 per year (140GB still have 100GB with 2 months to go, but have wifi at home and work )

        • Nah if you cancel the plan they had all kinds of fees and you have to pay back the $700 gift card etc.
It worked for me because I was out of plan and needed a new phone.

Had a mate try this at another JB store and no luck for him (he was spewing). Maybe I got lucky…

      • Wow. Great deal. Has that plan/offer ended now? The $69 plan with 100GB data and $700 gift card? I had a look and only see a similar plan with $300 gift card. I am guessing it was a Black Friday special offer with the $700 gift card?

        • I don't think the plan was related to any Black Friday deal but it appears it only lasted for 24 hours or so.

          • @OlorinSledg3: Ahh OK, thanks. That makes sense as that seems like a super deal. Not a regular deal.

  • +4

Thank you! My pixel 5 met with an unfortunate accident Sunday night.. Been calling around trying to get deals close to black Friday.. Have ordered a new P7:).

    • Did it have a case? My Oppo has a case on and has been thrown by toddler multiple times and no cracks. Amazing.

      • Which oppo model and which case?

        • Oppo Reno 5g. It came with a case out of the box.

      • Yep. Has had a case over two years. Still no cracks but more that something fell ON my pixel and although the glass is okay. It's got a small patch of bleeding pixels top centre which is slowly growing haha.

  • +11

Seriously all stops??? For example, Oppo X5 Pro was selling for $999 with an Oppo Tablet during black friday sales, and you are selling > $1500 at the moment?

    • I think the phone dropped to near $860 at one point with tablet, tbh Helstra are terrible to deal with, would avoid if JB or even HN were close in $

    • Brought to you by the same mob that charge $58/month minimum for their base BYO SIM plan. Absolute rip off.

  • +3

would be nice if telstra cut out all the overheads of giving 'value' via their points rewards systems and actually work on their plans value as well as coverage.

edit: i mean jb-hifi had more interesting sales than your 'all the stops'….

also considering that your recent telstra shares changes was even slightly more interesting that this sales…. idk.

    Any bargains?

    That would ruin Christmas.

Ha ha, Android user, here is a +1

    • +1

Any good deals on iPhone 14 no outright?

  • +10

People whinging but pixel 7 $750 is a good deal

    • They've sold it for $750 before. Not really Xmassy. Could have done $700 - wouldn't have bought anyway, cause I got the Motorola G82 for $200 here :-D

      • +5

Shit , they should just give it to you !

      • They've sold it for $750 before

Still a good deal. The P7 is a lot of phone for $750

        • Sure. But their Xmas sale is just another sale.

      • Such a good deal, got in quick with a gift card so $100 out of pocket. Such an upgrade minus iMessage and airdrop. Browsing feels like a proper browser and fdroid makes sideloading apps so easy. Can't say I'd want to go back to iOS unless there's a proper upgrade in the works.

        • Did you already have a gift card from another deal?

          • @Ice009: Yes, I won a prezzee smart gift card that I converted to a jbhifi card when I saw this deal was on

  • +1

More yawns. Purchased the Galaxy S22 for just under $500 about 2 months ago..

It's about 10 months since release and about 2 months from the next model?

    Yeah, nah.

    • +1

May I know how and where from? I've been scouting for a decent S22 deal myself.

      • +3

It was an optus deal - $588 (I incorrectly recalled it being $488..)

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/728860

It was a very good deal, but this one is rather limp in comparison.

        • Typical OB brag to remember the deal being 100 dollars less lol

    • Darn, that was a great deal.

Would you guys says the S22 is better than the Pixel 7 if the price was the same or less? I assume it's not worth picking over the Pixel 7 with the price it's at for this deal?

I was pretty much looking at the Pixel 7 and will likely get that, but the S22 would be my second choice if I could get it for a better price.

  • Locked?

  • Does anyone know whether Optus price matches (for current Optus customers, hence like for like)?

Might try an Optus store this morning.

  • This might help those trying to price match when I checked with JB this is what they said

"unfortunately the Telstra outright deals require an active Telstra ID and service to access these special pricings. Which means we are unable to match I'm afraid"

He did a bit more checking in the background but wasn't able to offer anything close.

  • Ya joking. I bought a 6a yesterday coz the 7 wasn't on special anymore.

  • +3

I spoke to Optus live chat and they confirmed Optus would price match.

  • Can someone please clarify if the pixel 7 outright is locked to telstra or not. Thanks

  • +1

I managed to get Officeworks Gilles Plains to price match last time.

  • I wish JB HIFI would price-match this!! $637.5 for Pixel 7 with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/742819 - yes please!

  • Where are the mid-rangers? Oppo A94 is one, no A73/A53…

Yes i know about the A53 with free buds.

  • Very tempted to try my luck with Officeworks on the 7 Pro. Hmm.

    • +1

Let me know how you go… I'm thinking the same thing!

  • Samsung S22 256GB $1049, worth the extra $100

    • I'm curious myself if you guys would choose the S22 over the Pixel 7 if the prices were the same? I assume it's not worth it over the P7 if the S22 is more expensive?

  • -1

Are these phones locked to Telstra? (Is this even a thing any more?)

If locked, are they easy to unlock?

    • Not locked. Was answered a couple times above.

  • Are there any gift cards that work with the Telstra store?

  • Is there going to be a similar deal to this?
    Google Pixel 6a 128GB (Outright) $499 Delivered @ Telstra
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/739028

    • No way, P7 is the flagship. P6a is the low cost

      • I think they're asking if there's going to be another Pixel 6a deal at 499, rather than having the Pixel 7 at 499. (which would be insane! And I'd buy a second one if it were the case for my partner haha).

  • Meh. Went to buy one. Had to make a Telstra id. Got told not available unless you have a Telstra service.

Very good deal though I guess if you are a Telstra customer.

    • The earlier Telstra deal has plenty of people buy it without any Telstra ID?

      • Maybe it was a different link?

        Link above says

"You need to have a service with us to buy a device outright. If you don't have a service, you can only purchase a device outright with a plan."

        • You could go to JB and get a Telstra plan through them and score a gift card. Or just try your luck with OfficeWorks like me and a few others to price match.

          • @omblygombly: Match or price beat?

            • +1

@CookedMaGoose: Sorry, price beat. Bought it for $711,

              • +1

@omblygombly: Was that online chat / phone / physical store?

                • +2

@CookedMaGoose: Walked into the store. Just asked if they could do it. They said yes. Though I did try another OW store and they said no, as they did when I rang up their 1300 number - head office whatever it is.You just need to get lucky and hope that the person you talk to hasn't read the memo not to price match/beat Telstra.

                  • @omblygombly: did you forget about coles giftcard deal ? Or could you combine giftcard to use in OW?

                    • +1

@a1234my: I Didn't know or I completely forgot about any Coles gift card deals. Soo many Good Friday deals going, hard to keep up.

    • Stuff all that just go officeworks

  • +1

Got Officeworks to price match the pixel.

    • Which store? Did you secure the deal over the phone, live chat or in person? Did they match or beat it?

      • Dandenong South. In person. Beat.

  • Anyone with or had a Pixel 5 thinking of getting this? im so tempted to upgrade my P5 to the 7 or 7 pro. Read all are upgrades except the speaker isnt as loud.
    Thoughts?

    • My pixel 5 has some physical damage slowly getting worse. So this deal came at the right time. However I did NOT plan to upgrade this year. If mine didn't just get some damage the other day, I'd be waiting for the Pixel 8. You're still getting software and OS updates so eh. It's definitely a full upgrade across the board.. But honestly the Pixel 5 is enough generally speaking. Great form factor too.

    • I am doubting. Got a replacement P5 last month which is already having issues (microphone not working unless on speaker, USB controlled by connected device without being connected).
It's doable but this deal is tempting

  • Can you cancel the plan and keep the phone straight away?

    • Just choose outright option (no plan needed)

  • Called my local JB, they told me they can't price match as you have to have a plan through Telstra to access that price. I told them I have a plan through Telstra but would prefer to buy through JB, still no.

I'll try over online chat next.

EDIT: online chat wouldn't do it either.

  • +1

It will be nice if whoever succeeded in price match at JB Hi Fi or price beat at Office works share the suburb where they were able to do it. Thanks.

    • +2

      Cranbourne Park home JB hi-fi.

  • I got pixel 6 for 12 months now. Not sure if need upgrade to pixel 7.

  • Any way to get this without a Telstra ID at all? +/- what is the cheapest way to get a Telstra ID?

    • $2 Sim?

      • +1

Got myself a $2 SIM which shows up as a 'service' on my Telstra ID

Despite this, unable to progress with the deal without buying a plan even though it explicitly states 'If you already have a service with us, you can buy outright without adding a plan.'

Online chat was not at all helpful… wonder if in-store is any better +/- will see if anywhere else can pricebeat!

        • Same here. Had read somewhere on pzbargain the $2 Sim trick works. That was not my experience. It explicitly stated at checkout that a plan or service is required.

          • @16k-zx81: Hey I just tried today, I bought a 2$ sim plus a cheapest 10$ prepaid plan, and the buying process is successful.

            • @runhui: How did you do this? I bought the $10 sim and it doesn't work.
