    90 cm high, 35cm wide. 2.7kg.

    • Thanks, was looking for that info.

  • +3

Pity it doesn't come in black.

    • -3

Once you go black you will never come back

    • +11

black shows up dust too much imo

  • Any way to get this working with HomeKit?

    • HomeKit bridge either in home assistant or by itself

      • I haven't been able to get this fan in home assistant. Any advice on what integration to use to add it?

        • Have you tried MIIO

        • Did you get it to work in HA. Ive just connect mine but cant seem to find it in HA

    • -2

Slap an Apple sticker on it

  • +2

I found to this to be noisy for a DC fan

    • +13

      Mine are whisper quite.

      • +20

        WHAT?

      • Do you have the same model?

        • Yes. I have two of them

    • +3

From what I've heard it's a quality control issue. Bit of luck of the draw with these

    • +20

Marvel fans are equally noisy !

      • +1

        I am Iron fan..

    • Low fan speed = low noise.
High fan speed = high noise.

      • -1

Many arm blades = more potential noise

        • +1

It's actually the opposite, the more blades, the quieter a propeller is :)

          • @mugenkun: It was the opposite for our Kmart fan, idk why. We resorted to putting in an old blade (fewer big arms), overall quieter.

  • +1

For anyone that owns this one - I can't find any other info. Can also be controlled without the app (eg an IR remote or physical buttons on the fan)?

    • +4

      Yep comes with a remote

    • +2

Has physical buttons for speed, angle, and timer

    • +5

And a stupid bright white light that feels like it needs to flash at the ceiling all night (I opened and blue tacd the led inside)

      • Agreed, the fan LED control button lights are annoying……

      • +1

This and the beep can be turned off in the Mi Home app.

        • +2

I don't want an entity from that manufacturer with any access to my phone - only purchased because it can be controlled with the remote.

        • You can't seem to turn off the wifi indicator light.

  • +2

Wish the height was also adjustable.

    • +13

Your can easily make it shorter, though it's permanent

      • -1

        By cutting it?

        • Yes, that was the joke

  • +18

Bought 1 from previous deal that bundles with smart home pack.

Feedback to date - it's so quiet that I've forgotten to turn it off many times. One of the best fan I've ever owned. Can be operated via the app or remote.

  • Thanks OP, I'll buy 2

    • +1

these will sell out first thing when store opens sat morning.

    • +3

      Seems like you're a fan

  • +1

Noise Level at low-speed down to 28dB
    30dB at low speed

Incredible. That last 2dB drop must come into effect when you stop talking about the '4 angles wind feeding' or the 'Smooth operation and stable blowing'.

  • +2

I have one of these, and while it's nice, I feel like it's a bit overpriced for what it is.

I have one of those remote control "normal" pedestal fans and don't really see much of a difference tbh lol.

    • +1

I want to buy such "normal" pedestal fan. Could you tell me where to buy that?

      • Not sure if they sell it anymore but I bought a fenici remote control fan from bigw a few years back, 30$ from memory

      • Kmart Anko pedestal fans. Timer options are $50. Can't adjust the angle. Blades are loud.

      • Normal= AC.
This is DC, which is quieter, has almost unlimited speeds and uses far less electricity

  • +1

bought a few units during the previous offer - works well with HomeAssistant. the only issue i have is the height ain't adjustable…

    • What integration are you using?

    • Did they just add compatibility for this model recently?

      • not sure. I have been using xiaomi miot auto all the time. I ain't sure what the official xiaomi integration support for viomi is.

    • Based on your experience with it :
Does it work enough well on a hot summer day ?

      • the highest speed setting the throughput is strong. and it has 180º swing as well. Well, I removed the ceiling fan and replaced it with this standing fan instead.

        • Nice.. thank you

  • +2

Bought this during the last sale; pretty happy with the fan as a whole but just a heads up. The 'smart' functionality isnt that great i.e. integration with Google is non-exisitent; which is what I had actually got it for 'Hey Google turn off fan' etc.

    • Or you could get a cheap manual settings fan, and a mains switch that does Google (~$9 with the recent JB HiFi sale).

I've never worked out why they seem to make such a hash of putting 'smarts' on devices. Its a $5 microcontroller at most and a fan curve if you really want to be smart about it.

    • +1

Or you can roll your own solution.

Have a fan with an RF remote. Bought a Broadlink RM controller (the one that does RF). Created an Amazon developer account and built my own custom skill. Deployed via Home Assistant.

Total overkill, but now I can go "Alexa, fan speed 2" (among other things) while lying in bed and it magically happens.

  • +1

Does the app's max speed differ from the 4 on remote controller, fan is more like a toy

  • +7

I have this fan and it’s cool. It was a breeze to setup.
10/10 a fan of this product and I’m not blowing hot air.

    • +2

      FAN tastic

      • I caught wind of some puns here

    • Could you be a bit more specific? I don’t doubt you, but remember — what goes around comes around

  • Better off saving your dosh and getting the more expensive battery one by Xaiomi

    • Or get a power bank and USB to barrel plug cable.

      • +2

I doubt this fan runs on 5v, and a more powerful power bank would be pointless to buy unless you already have one.

If you want battery then just buy the one that is meant to work with a battery I wouldn't try hack around it

      • +1

        Dust cup: Capacity 0.4L

        And it really sucks!

  • +2

These are good, I'm a fan.

  • +6

It's very quiet, but small and feels cheap. Build quality is on par with the $10-20 40cm AC fans from Kmart etc, made of cheap plastics.

Fan blade diameter is about 29cm, centre of the fan is only 74cm above the ground and it's non-height adjustable.

The only close competitor would be Kogan's 40cm DC fan which cost between $89-129 https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-premium-dc-motor-pedestal…

  • +1

Are they trying to sound like Xiaomi ?

    • Right, like all xxxMI

    • +7

Xiaomi are a major investor and Viomi produce some of Xiaomi's smart home products.

      • Aaaah - learn something new every day!

      • lol I assumed Voimi as being Aldi's knockoff brand

  • +1

    Wifi fan 🤨

  • Despite smart function capability: is this fan effective enough for the breeze it gives ?
In videos- it seems like it's not that effective, is it ?

    • +1

Yes, for normal use. It's excellent as a person fan (e.g. for a workspace). For a bedroom it would be fine, and maybe a small loungeroom or dining space. But it's not comparable to a high-powered fan. It's not going to "blast."

  • +3

Anyone using HA, and the xiaomi fan HACS plugin, join this thread to get this fan added in

    https://github.com/syssi/xiaomi_fan/issues/178

  • -1

being 20W, does it mean I can use it with a 100W solar panel?

  • +1

Why does one need to control a fan with an app?

    • +2

Xi needs to know who's at highest risk of fan death.

  • +2

I bought 4 of these via the recent deal for kids rooms, as they are will work out cheaper in the long run with kids running them all the time on hot days and I'm happy with them.
Not having noise issues as some people have mentioned. So quiet on low speeds. Awesome.
They seem a bit short when you put them together, but it has not been an issue.
They really feel cheap and almost fragile, but once it's put together, I would imagine most people are not going to handle them much at all. All of ours just sit in their spots and the remotes control them.
    Air flow is quite good.

DC is great for long term energy savings and the remote and app are very handy when you are half asleep and do not want to get up.

Might grab one of these for my bedroom to replace the noisy, power sucking helicopter I run at night to my wife's annoyance half the time.

    • Do they have LED lights? Are they bright in a dark room when sleeping?

      • +2

They have annoying LEDs and beeps, however, these can be disabled in the Mi Home app. Or bluetack.

        • you can turn it off in the app

  • +1

I don't think we gonna need fan in Melbourne this summer 😬

  • +4

Not sure why people like "whisper quiet" fans. The white noise from a fan is the best sleeping aide one can have on a warm summer's night.

  • Seems like $70ish is the norm for these now

  • +1

So is this the newer version of the crap rattling one i bought recently on another ozbargain deal? Hope its better. Dodgy quality control fan blades are not balanced on my one.

  • +1

i just buy the cheapest pedestal fans bunnings has to offer whenever in need of another.

few years ago they were $10, then $12, now they are $17 and they last 10 or so years without any maintenance.

you dont need your fan to be smart - you just need it to have 3 speeds, height adjustable and with an option for fixed or oscillation.

at 45Wmax power is not a bank breaker either, especially on lower settings.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-40cm-white-pedestal-fan_p0…

    • +3

With all due respect, there's two big points I like about a DC Fan:
      1. Power usage is anywhere from 1.6W to 11W depending if you're on the minimum or maximum fan speed, don't get me wrong 45W isn't bad, but I'd be willing to leave the Viomi fan on the entire year and not think about its power usage.
      2. On 25% and 50% speed, you can barely hear the fan, lower than 25% and it's pretty much silent, the AC fans are loud even on the lowest setting, which isn't ideal when you want to be in a quiet room.

It is a shame that this Viomi isn't height adjustable, however the fan does angle itself anywhere from slightly downward to pointing directly towards the ceiling, so that should solve issues regarding direction of wind flow.

    • well, if the smart fan works alone , yup, you probably don't need it to be smart - and you only need 3 settings.

But it is a different story when the fan is integrated with other IoTs via a platform - such as HomeAssistant. So many other crazy things / routine can be set to make the fan a truly 'smart' fan.

it is a subjective topic, indeed.

    • Expensive DC fans often have customisable oscillation angles

      • +1

It would be nice to have a truly smart fan :(

Fobsessive, you can very the oscillation angles on the Viomi fan, 30, 60, 90 and 180

        • That's a nice selection of angles!

    • I've had a few of those and they are crap! The feet bend (thin sheet metal) if you accidentally tilt the fan while moving it, they start wobbling after a while and are fairly noisy (after a while motor hums and gets hot on startup).

They only last like 1-2 years in my experience before they burn out or break and I'll need a new one.

  • May I ask, what's special about DC fans? I heard that they are quiet. Why can't manufacturers make quiet AC fans?
