Why wait for the Aldi Special Buy

    Their returns policy?

    • is this store grey import?

    • +1

Why wait? Because I ordered from this ad last weekend and it's still NOT SHIPPED, so it definitely won't get to me before Sat. Would have been quicker to buy from Aldi!!!

      • Yeah better off getting from aldi.

The shop Sounds shonky as, at least Kogan and dick smith turn up quicker.

  • +2

Now I don't need to buy airline tickets to visit Aldi ;)

    • +2

Canberra Tassie in a nutshell. Nothing there ;)

      • I wish we had a big circle.

        • +1

We do. I think they call them roundabouts.

Also sorry I couldn't help myself and also have no idea what the other kind of big circle is.

          • +3

@mit: Canberra is just one big circle to drive on

        • +1

Sometimes I think OzBargain is one giant circle jerk

          • +2

@tharlow: Until you mention you have a Tesla or Alienware monitor. Then the masses turn on you.

            • @Clear: I have a feeling you have both

              • @tharlow: I'm surprised not many here do considering the large number of deals.

            • @Clear: Unless you got the Tesla on an Ozbargain deal

  • +4

For a sec I thought this was Amazon AU.

    smart fan

    Something no influencer has.

    • Thanks! Grabbed one with the Smart Home Kit.

      • The CCP thanks you.

        • +8

The CCP are welcome to know when I turn my lights and fan on and off (I don't have this kit but they probably still know)

        • CCP dont care about temperature in your house or if you open and close door.

Even if they do, your not important enough.

          • @Anubizz: Nobody is unimportant enough

Anyway, use your own zigbee hub and you can keep the CCP in the dark about your light usage.

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Ordered.

  • +2

Is this any good? Better than let's say "Vordano" or "Honeywell" air circulators

    • +7

Vordano is probably better, but not as good as Dynos of course

      • +1

I see what you did there ;)

        • +2

There is a really good knock-off called Moneyhell

      • The vornado 633dc doesn't have any remote or smart controls or swing, quiet until over 50% power and very directional. Still alright for the living room for air movement and have a smart plug connected for on/off.

So I probably prefer the mi fan I got (1x, similar looking to this one)

    • +3

Those are air circulators. Think noisy but high volume of air pushed around the room. This is a fan. Generally very quiet thanks to being DC but gets a little (not much) loud when going at full tilt. Also unlike most fans has WiFi control, adjustable range of swivel and the ability to tilt all the way up to face the ceiling so could act like an air circulator of sorts. FWIW Viomi has a similar looking unit that is an air circulator - it’s black and the fan unit looks a bit thicker

    • Vornado 660 had for 7 years or something use it everyday, awesome to pull cold air up stairs or hot air vice versa, but i use mine as a small bedroom fan and even on speed 1 it is loud ans very powerful. I sleep with it on.
Be warned they blow air and dust like no ones business.

I dont know if made im america had anything to do with it, i tell everyone to buy them. I think costco has them on sale better than amazon.

  • +4

I was blown away by the price!

    • +2

Don’t walk around the back or you’ll be sucked in

      • +1

        Obligatory. This deal blows

    • both Luckymi and AZAU are our distributors. Luckymi doesn't have much stock left I guess no more $60 deal.

      • Do you also have eBay store where I can buy this ?

        • we don't have much stock left as well. $69 from AZAU or Aldi is good to go…

  • +3

Can it connect to Google home ?

  • +1

Is this this battery operated one?

  • Tempting, but my concern is this fan is so small. Only 345mm wide.

    • We bought it last time. I knew it was small, but I didn't tell my wife because I knew she would object. Which she did when it arrived. But now she loves it and wants another one. The small size makes it very convenient.

      • +1

So even if you think a big one is better, you may find that two small ones are more suitable?

        • sound about right. one for the front bed room and another for the back bedroom.

  • Is the height adjustable?

  • +1

couldn't get mine to work with Alexa, sad.

  • +5

Beware that this fan has known unbalanced blade issues which causes it to rattle when in use. And no you can't fix it because the hole in the middle is not 100% exactly in the center. It's off by a few mm.

    • +1

      Source?

      • +5

Source: My fan, which is complete dogshit when it comes to balance.

Also, you need to set the app to "China mainland" for it to work correctly.

        Avoid.

        • +1

I used mine with the Xiaomi Home app set to Singapore region and it works fine for me.
If you run Home Assistant, there is an available integration that can control it locally.

        • +1

So much for One China… poor Taiwan. I encourage all Australian manufacturers to introduce an Australia (mainland) option to further ostracise Tasmania

    • +1

i concur with you on this as mine does it ..bought 3 in a previous deal but i do like the fan other than small noise

      • We bought it last time and it's extremely quiet, never heard any rattle. When does it supposedly rattle, on 100% only? We usually run it at 50%.

        • started a few weeks after and doesn’t always do it ..weird

        • Doesn't occur on every fan. It depends where the hole was drilled. Yours must've been in the center.

    • I had one entire blade that was different, the ebay seller was really good and sent me a whole new fan. I will order a replacement fan blade and get the fan working properly.

  • how is Bunnings $55 DC fan performance and features compared to Viomi. https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-40cm-matte-black-dc-pedest…

    • Reviews suggest its Sh*t

    • Did you read the reviews?

    • Looks like a disaster reading those reviews..

    • I read the reviews and still bought the last one at my local. I thought maybe I'd get a good one. Nope. First 3 days were annoying but it has quietened down a fair bit and comes and goes. I wouldn't try and sleep with it in the bedroom. I tried a few things to try and stop the noise but nothing worked.

    • From one of the reviews:

In hot weather it doesn’t work higher than the first speed: the engine shuts down and lights flash, I presume it’s overheated.

Amazing. What an supreme failure of a cooling device. A fan that needs fan.

  • +1

As someone with both a Xiaomi and Viomi fan, I can say the Xiaomi is much better

For starters you can angle the fan head down more and also the stand has two height levels which is useful if you wanna use it as a desk fan

  • +6

I have one of these.. it is a tinny fan with tinny plastic blades but that aids the motor .. looks like a toy fan, smaller, lower, quieter than what is generally available but works really well… Quiet and blows a decent amount of air ..output is similar to a vornado, build quality is like a 20 dollar bunnings fan.. it is way more quieter than either..I am guessing it is more efficient as well. The small size and height is actually very convenient now that I think about it. The smarts on a fan like this is pointless to me at least when it has a fully functioning remote..I have never ever felt the need to be able to control it using my phone or set an automation routine for it in Home assistant since it comes on when someone wants it ..pretty much beats the requirement for automation unlike a ceiling fan which can be automated on the basis of ambient temps… but overall performance wise it is definitely worth the price

Edit: No height adjustment but the head is on a swivel mount so do not need it ..no idea why no other manufacturer has ever thought of that .. the lower height makes it portable though the ability to lower it to the ground would have been awesome ..

    • Good review mate, thanks. Perfect for summer, I reckon.

  • Why no delivery to Perth? I understand the delays due to rail network closure, but can't I just order it and wait for the eventual delivery?

  • +10

Just share my experience with this fans and others I’ve purchased
Viomi- Build quality is just okay, it come with remote with 4 speed controls, app’s control is okay with 100 speed, very quiet at low speed to mid speed only. Max airflow is okay but not wow.
Xiaomi 2- much better build quality but no remote, using the same apps as Viomi but control layout is totally different and much better.
Kogan premium DC fan (new)- build quality is between Viomi and Xiaomi 2, stronger airflows at max speed (12 speed?) and come with remote.
Kogan premium DC fan (old)- Build quality is similar to xiaomi 2, 30-40 speeds, max airflow similar or stronger than new model. Better remote than new model.
Cheap basic AC fans- it will get the things done. Just less features and less speed control.

My thoughts, if you want fans with remote control, low speed/quite at sleeping time, timer ect. Probably just go for this Viomi. Even this is not the best DC fans but this is one of the cheapest DC fans with most features and remote. If you willing to spend $100+, there are better choices. If you don’t care all the features or you satisfy with 3 speed? Get the cheapest fans. Kogan premium DC fans (old) is pretty good, but no longer available.

    • Good reviews mate. Could you put prices on there for all 4? That would make it truly complete.

      • +1

Viomi- bought 3, first one ~$69, 2nd and 3rd ~$110 for both (for parents)
Xiaomi 2- bought it long time ago for $89 (usually cost more)
Kogan (new model)- bought it ~$69 (usually cost more)
Kogan (old model)- bought it long time ago for ~$89 (usually cost more and no longer available).

        • Thank you for this. I bought this Viomi from this deal.
I still have the old Kogan model, under $100, going strong.

    • +1

You can buy a remote for the Xiaomi 2, but that is an added cost. I can't remember what I paid a few years ago, but I want to say ten or fifteen bucks.

    • So xiaomi 2 is the quietest?

      • It is quieter among the fans I own. But kogan fans has more max airflow.

        • So u think current Kogan fan is better than xiaomi 2/3?

          • @evasive: I only have xiaomi 2, can’t speak for 3. I will het xiaomi 2 for bedroom, Kogan for room need more airflow. But kogan and xiaomi fans are quite expensive without special.

  • Anyone using this with an indoor bike trainer? How good is the directional air flow?

  • Does anyone have experience the issue with this fan. When it running for say 10 minutes regardless of the speed, head tilt and etc. It cut out for 2-3 sec then it resume? I change natural and other mode. Make no different. Is this by the design of DC motor?

    • OK, so this is happening to me as well.

  • +2

Hm, it’s quoting me $9.90 for shipping

Edit: looks like it’s no longer free shipping, only for the bundle version

    https://www.azau.com.au/c/smart-home-boxing-day-2022-smart-h…

  • The good thing about the modern looking DC fans is that they are easy to clean -
I got the Xiamoi X1, and it was getting increasingly noisy and ineffective with all the dust.
pretty quick to take the plastic cover and fan blade off and clean under some water.

You'd end up throwing those aluminium cheapies away pretty regularly.

    • Is there any other maintenance that can be done to extend the life of the fans? Oiling, etc?

      • Dunno, shouldn't require anything for ages you'd think.

      • Don’t know, but xiaomi 2 is easy to clean and still quiet after 2-3 years. My all cheap basic fans get louder every year.

  • still not shipped

  • Please allow us 10 business days before contacting us about your order.

Wait half a month just to follow up? Is he better off going to aldi!

  • Yeah mine still hasn't changed from processing either. Love how in the FAQ it says they have the right to ship whenever they feel like it.

  • This deal is working again ($69.99 free delivery).

    • Don't bother, you won't get any time soon. Mid year after summer is over if you're lucky. Go Aldi instead.

  • Does anyone notices it stop and start after certain period time of usage, regardless of which mode, speed and etc. Not like a traditional fan where it continuously running. I bought one long time ago here, and this time from Aldi.

To me sound like it get to certain temp of the dc motor and it cool down for few sec then it go again.

    • +1

Do both of your fans do that?

      • Yes both of them having the same issue.

        • Do they start by themselves after they turn off?
Have you measured after how long they turn off? The Xiaomi is set for 12 hours.
Is the downtime the same duration between both fans?
