[WA] Twinkly Lumation 600 Mini RGB LED Lights $99.99 (Was $279.99) @ Costco Perth Airport (Membership Required)

140

Shopping for Christmas lights and saw this on a Perth Costco Fans fb group for the Costco Perth Airport store (photos from that post). This deal is in-store only (and no online links available for the product from Costco). Not sure if this is also at other stores. Bought last night - there were still over 4 layers of stock on display remaining.

Some details (from the side of the box):
* 600 RGB mini LEDs - diffused
* 47.7m lighted length
* 34.2W total Wattage
* Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatible
* From the Twinkly app:
- Control the lights remotely
- Draw and customise lights
- Sync up to 10 sets of lights together

Also had the Philips 100 Dual Colour Mini LED lights string 2 pack on sale for $9.99 (was $39.99). From reading the box, string length was 10m per 100 lights (or 1 pack). Can connect up to 300 lights (or 30m) together. Three light patterns (white light constant, multi-colour constant, flash/colour change between white and colour). Also plenty of stock last night.

EDIT:
Last year's Ozbargain post on this product (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/657582) has some useful information about the LEDs including the licencing name, compatibility and comparison with genuine Twinkly Lights - thanks @harry56
Also Costco's link for the product when it was available online (https://www.costco.com.au/c/Lumations-Twinkly-App-Controlled…) - thanks @DingoBlue

  • Bugger, wish they had some at North Lakes!

  • Are these compatible with the series 2 RGB ones from Myer the other day?

    • Different brand so probably not. They're compatible with the app, but Luminations brand instead of Twinkly, or at least that's my understanding.

    • The product manual says these are Gen II. I also got these lights to work with a Twinkly music dongle last night. From last year's post about this product (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/657582) @rogerramjet2 mentioned that it syncs in a group with 'real' Twinkly lights, so that also sounded promising. I am going to try it out with a set of Icicles or two (or a Curtain), eventually when pulling the plug on a good deal.

    Probably worth noting that these may not be Twinkly "Generation 2" and don't confuse them with Twinkly Strings. I'm not sure what Generation 2 gives one (can't use the usb music dongle with gen 1 apparently). No doubt good for the price still though

    • don't confuse them with Twinkly Strings

      ELI5?

    • The fact that they are a string of 600 leds will mean that they have a Gen 2 controller as Gen 1 could not address that many leds.

  • Awesome price, even if it is v.1

  • Am I crazy or is that a lot of lights?

    Serenity now!

  • Anyone know how many left?

    • 600 led should be gen II according to this PDF

      • FWIW, the cover of the product manual also says Lumination Twinkly Generation II. Also got the Twinkly music dongle to work with these lights last night too.

    For that price I'd just get them and then deal with any limitations they may have.

    I have the Twinkly G2 600 set and they are awesome and if you're wondering if 600 LED's are too many, I think it's only just acceptable on my 200cm tree, I reckon it could use a few more.

    As per the post last year, these are licensed lights by a third party. The LEDs themselves are fairly bog standard compared to the LEDs in Twinkly sets, but if you are more interested in being able to animate lights, than the brightness, there is nothing wrong with them.

  • Picked up 2 boxes of these today. Still had a shelf full of them (probably about 10 boxes or so). Can confirm they are Gen 2 controller.

    Only put 1 set on the tree on one side, and so far it's pretty darn cool. If you are planning on doing a whole tree (full 360) then definitely recommend getting 2 sets.

    • I wish they had them in Melbourne as well!
      I have one set from last year and would like to get a second set as I agree that you probably need 2 sets to "fill" the tree.
