Not as cheap as Myer was, but cheapest I've seen otherwise and they have just been reduced. They are also showing as arriving tomorrow for me in metro Melbourne.

Note that the RGB are not compatible with the RGB+W, so you can't put them in the same group. E.g. no good for a Christmas tree if using different set types. You can use them separately though.

RGB
600 light string $279

400 light string $203

250 light string $135

RGB+W

210 curtain $155

If you're in/near Perth and a Costco member, you might prefer this deal if they're still available. They're not quite the same lights and probably can't be grouped with any of the other Twinkly lights, but should be good on their own.

David Jones has Twinkly on sale too for just a few more dollars per item and available in lots of stores still? if anyone wanted to have it for Christmas. They don't have the 600 Strings though but do have 400 and others most other items. They have the Festoon ones that Amazon doesn't have as well.

Example. Strings 400 LED RGB Smart String Lights $209.00 vs $203 at Amazon.

If you can get the music dongle it is kind of fun. The Fluo settings, particularly Vu Fluo and Amplify are easy to "see noise". Music obviously, but also birds chirping, people talking, or people clapping/stomping etc. Could be a bit of fun for kids of all ages for a little bit. The other music options still do things with music/sounds etc, but it's a bit more subtle, better for background than interacting directly with it.

  • We’ve got 400 RGBW
Good fun, rate the W vs just rgb. Opens up the options a bit

  • My order from Myer was canceled and refunded.

  • As I said over in the Myer listing, JB HiFi has been price matching the Myer listing (in my case even when Myer has it as sold out). Although that will only last until midnight tonight. Go get em! These are f**king awesome!

Edit: note that JB has mostly RGB+W, JB staff were matching price on led count alone. ;)

I asked JB's chat if they would price match but as the item was out of stock they said they couldn't so much depend on who you deal with

      • +1

Yeah, I tried chat and a couple of stores by phone and bugged them for ages and that was when there were stores in the same shopping centre showing as in stock. No go. Best I could get was $289 on the 600s. I didn't go through with it because I was able to get 3 x 250 RGB for $270 from Myer ebay. Im very happy with them anyway and 3 x 250 gives me more options than 1 x 600. I'm very happy with the effects without the W, I think I'm better off not seeing them just in case.

        • Sorry to hear that, I guess it comes down to the staff at the particular store. First lot I bought, the guy didn't even blink, just saw my mobile and the price and processed it. Today on my second visit, the staff member looked it up and questioned her supervisor about low or no stock, the supervisor just said to process it. I was super friendly with them all (tough time of the year to work in retail). I'm listing a few on ebay as I don't need more than a couple or will return if they don't sell.

  • I know nothing about Christmas lighting. Are these very high quality or something? They seem very expensive compared to the stuff you can get regularly on sale at aldi or bunnings

    • +1

They are incredibly expensive, even on sale, and not worth getting unless you REALLY want individually addressable LEDs that are ready to go. To my knowledge these are the only individually addressable LED Christmas lights on the market. You can get individually addressable LED light strips cheaper, but you need to kind of know what you're doing, but probably more customisable. In my view light strips aren't great for trees (others may be better at hanging them), though they can be great for displays.

With these, hang the lights on the tree or wherever. You map them in the app, so it knows where each of the LEDs are and you can do a bunch of effects in endless different colours. Depending on where they're hung (not great for trees) you can do pictures too. They look amazing.

They cost about 10 times what you could probably get Christmas lights for, it's up to the individual to decide if it's worth it. I can say they've brought me great joy.

Here are a couple of videos of mine, or search for other 'Twinkly' videos, if you want to see them in action.

  • We got the 250 strings rgb from David jones, tested it and didn’t love the “white”, refunded and got the rgbw from JB for $186 (commercial) loving it

  • Does everyone use these lights just for xmas tree? I bought 2 of the RGBW ones from JB for $120 each but only used one for the tree. Not sure what to do with the second one as one was enough to cover our xmas tree.

Wondering whether to return the second box (unopened) or keep it since I bought them fairly cheap (compared to RRP) and perhaps buy a bigger xmas tree.
