Price match at JB Hifi and use zip pay deal when it is active?

  • How does this compare to the EVO?

  • +12

EVO is a C2 this CS is an upgraded C1 with the same new processor as the C2. The C2 is a bit brighter for well lit rooms. Lg is using this deal to clear out their old C1 panels but it is a great deal and I bought one today.

Comparison of C1 and C2 here. CS will end up in the middle.
    https://www.tvfindr.com/lg-oled-c1-vs-lg-oled-evo-c2/

    Quote for this website
"LG OLED evo C2 can score a few points on the C1 due to the slightly higher peak brightness. This is particularly noticeable when it comes to displaying bright details in HDR content. However, to be honest, the difference is not massive."

    • Thank you so much!

    • For the space challenged like me, the C2 55 inch is also slightly less wide than its CS counterpart. Annoying given the price difference for essentially the same TV. And the Treasury is against me buying a new TV.

On the bright side (ha ha) for me if you lot all buy the CS and your need for a new TV is sated, eventually retailers will have it discount the C2 more heavily, and I might be able to win Treasury over.

    • I wouldn't even say the C2 is even brighter for well lit rooms, the brightness increase is mainly for HDR highlights, otherwise the difference is pretty small at best

    • +1

TLDR: LG CS is probably using an LG Display EVO panel, but may not be higher in peak brightness than the C1, and the C2 uses an LG Display OLED EX panel, but it's marketed as OLED EVO by LG Electronics. The data you've linked is incorrect, though the C2 should be brighter.

EVO is not really a C2 thing, and this is where things get confusing: LG Display - the makers of the panels, not the television made by LG Electronics - were using EVO panels in the C1 since about a month after release, until they eventually were all EVO panels. This was run off as manufacturing yields improved from production for the new tech, but they were presumably binnings that couldn't perform to the advertised specs.

LG Display now have 3 marketed OLED panel technologies: LG OLED, LG OLED EVO, LG OLED EX. From the C2 up, LG Electronics use OLED EX, but it's still marketed as OLED EVO. The same is true for competing brands using LG OLED panels this year, though at least one markets the panel as OLED EX. It gets even more murky within lineups, as peak brightness will vary across panel sizes with bigger generally being brighter, and subject to what heatsink - if any - is used.

The CS would likely use the OLED EVO panel from LG Display rather than the original C1 panel, but I'm not sure if that's been tested or officially confirmed, which can be done through spectral distribution analysis. C1 TVs that did have EVO panels could achieve higher peak brightness through modifying the service menu, but this voids the warranty.

Finally, while the measurements you've linked are either wrong or a really weird average of SDR & HDR performance, it's important to note that something like 10% higher brightness or peak brightness measurements do not translate to 10% higher perceptual brightness, because of how our eyes work: it's far more marginal for the viewing experience. A small increment like that matters more for longevity of the panel.

      • +1

Yep I can confirm for the 77 inch CS at least it comes with a WBE panel. From the panel code in the service menu it looks like it comes with a 2021 panel and shares the same code as the 2022 83 inch LG C2 and G2 (being 08/50/0/00).

  • C2 should Be! U can do better!

    • +5

I feel like CS is fine for most people, and most uses. If you want the latest & greatest then go for C2. Most reviews I've seen and read don't really show a big difference between the two.

This is worth price matching elsewhere. Shopping at Harvey Norman is risky. Their "click-and-collect" is absolutely terrible and isn't actually 1-hour as promised.

They might randomly freeze your order for review and you won't get what you paid for any time soon.

    • Ordered my 65 inch CS from HN at Woodville SA this morning being delivered Wednesday.

    • +2

And then there is the Gerry Harvey tax. A tax that costs more to collect than it raises.

    • +1

And when you try to return they will (profanity) you about endlessly.

  • +2

How is the 77 still $4375 I got my 77C1 for $4450 should be way lower for the older panel

  • Would you go for this or the Hisense 4k projector priced at 2k? Mainly for movie watching/tv shows (not general news shows etc)

    • If you're going to watch in a big room (around 10 meters away from screen) projector may give you better experience other than that OLED will beat any projector.

  • So are these the go to panels now?

    • C1 panel with a C2 processor

      • What does C1 and C2 actually stand for

  • +2

    Right TV,
    WRONG retailer!!

    get it pricematched!

  • JB have dropped their price for the 55" so no price matching for it unfortunately. Didn't check the other sizes. Still decent with the Zip Pay cashback.

  • +2

Have been edging on a OLED for about 6 months now, cam anyone convince me that I need it lol..

    • Legit. Do it.
      It's amazing

      • I figured on further research I need the Samsung QN90A as I've a window in front, behind and to the side of the TV. Oleds aren't great with reflections..

        • Yeah, fair enough.
          It is pretty reflective

    • It's Christmas, treat yourself

  • If you are getting the TV delivered you can ring a little more out of the deal as Good Guys is $55 delivery, HN is $59 as is JB.
But you can use this to price match.

  • I got a Samsung S95B 65" a week ago
For $2549 including delivery and setup. In my opinion a better deal, and used Afterpay. The CS is still a cracking deal though. Just a bit older panel. Mine has no Dolby vision, not a deal breaker as I use a shield pro into a high end pioneer receiver. YVMV.

    • 🤔 how. Please enlighten. I want to get it too
HN said the best is 2580 and $390 for 48 mnth product care altogether $2970

      • I know on the Samsung employee store (corporate discounts often get access) you can currently get the 66" S95B for $2624

      • I got the one day Samsung sale $3000 and a member showed me how to get a 15% discount code. Through asking nicely chat support, which I stacked. Including delivery and setup. Thought that was too good to risk boxing Day sales.

    • Do Samsung have adverts pop up?

      • Alrighty. Do Samsung offer additional warranty as 12 months not gonna cut it

    • +1

"bit older panel". Just saying I have the 55 inch C7 which came out in 2017 and I am still blown away by the image more than 5 years later. Don't let this stop you because you will be just as happy with it. LG OLEDS for this price you can't pass it up. I am waiting for some $ to come my way soon and I will cough up for a 65 inch to replace my 55 and put the 55 in the family room. I would have jumped on this if I had the $ right now.

      • I have the B7 and am so tempted to upgrade to the CS, but just can't justify it as the B7 is still going strong.

Still the best screen in the house to game or watch TV/movies on. Nothing else comes close.

      • I have C8. It’s perfection and would be the most negligee difference. My next upgrade will be when some new tech comes out and the tech jump is LCD -> OLED or similar.

    • If you message Samsung on their website and say you have an existing product they can give you a voucher to get it at 15% off at $2549. Tossing up now between the CS and the S95B

      • +1

Unless you've got everything Samsung I'd pick the LG
Better viewing angle, and also supports Dolby Vision iirc

        • +1

          thanks - much appreciated.

  • I'm 90% buying this 65" TV, seems like the best price for an OLED TV.
Any comments comparing this to the S95B which seems to be more expensive

or the LG 65" QNED91 4K Ultra HD Mini which is also on sale to $2245 from $3895 at JB

  • +1

If you can afford the 98" TCL I would rather get this 77" due to vast superior picture quality.

  • I red somewhere that the main differences between the C2 and the CS are:

    • The C2 has the EVO panel whilst the CS has the same C1 panel
    • The CS has wifi5 whilst the C2 has wifi6
    • The weight of the C2 is about 6-7 Kilograms lighter than the CS.

Don’t know if they are true.

    • If you go to the LG website, it says both are WiFi 5. I know a lot of the websites record the wrong details sometimes for the various models, but you'd think LG would be reliable. Anyone else know of a difference in WiFi connectivity?

  • +1

I got a deal on the CS at HN for $2299. Mind you I also purchased a washing machine and a microwave.

  • This is a good price for the CS.

  • Finally made the switch. Got the 65in from JB.

  • Anyone recommend going with JB hi Fi extended coverage care or not?

    • No wouldn't bother

  • Question about paying … Zip has a Max $2000 purchase. Will JB online let me pay with about $1000 of random gift cards, and the rest on ZIP to get the $100 reward? Does it let you enter multiple gift cards?

    TY

    • +1

Was contemplating this issue but didn't affect my order in the end so couldn't tell. Apparently no limit on number of gift cards at jb anymore and it should give you the zip option once you get it under the 2k limit (since their official policy is orders under 2k) but that's a big should to put your trust in. What you could do is buy a small gift card find an item just over the 2k threshold and see at checkout whether lowering it under will unlock the zip checkout option

  • Any jb hifi gift cards avail atm @ 10% off?

    • +1

Giftz.com ultimate everyone for 7% off

  • Bit the bullet and getting it delivered next week from JB.

  • -1

So want to upgrade my 65" CX to get a 77".
Is the second hand market any good or should I hand me down to a nephew

  • Like many here I was going to wait for deals on the C2 again, but just saw that HN are doing an extra 10% back in gift cards, which takes this to $2150, hmm. I'd pay a couple hundred more for a C2, but this is closer to $500 difference based on the Good Guys price on the C2 recently.

    • Jeez, just saw. Even on the 55
Any idea where the T&Cs are for that?

    • Sorry where is the 10% back deal?

      • +1

Just search for the TV model on the website and it says in red

        • +1

          Nice thanks

          • +1

@octeau: Saw the offer advertised on TV, the biggest catch appears to be that the gift card only has one month validity. The website is still a bit lacking in detail currently, perhaps because technically it's a Boxing Day "one day only" deal and is up early.

  • Tried to price match at JB with the 65" CS 10% back in giftcards at HN, JB gave me a price of $2285, still probably worth going with HN

    • Been trying! HN site not allowing me to add the TV to the cart, slow AF. I think they're getting hammered.

      • same thing happening here

      • +1

if you havent bought yet I reached out again and JB just price matched HN with the 10% off

        • Oh nice one - starting live chat with them now

          • @octeau: They initially said they don't match 'extra offers' only advertised price… Have told them that someone else has successfully matched the offer though, and then they came back with $1435.40 for the 55" (which is exactly 10% off) !!!

            Thank you @themaindave !!

            • @octeau: Good work. Online chat turned me down

              • @finger: Maybe try again, someone else might say yes

                • +2

@octeau: Thanks tried again and they offered $1440. Happy days

                  • @finger: Any tips on what to say in the chat? Just going for my 2nd attempt now.

                    • @GRavey: Nah I said the same thing both times, first time guy said his manager wouldn't go lower the 2nd time boom straight up to no worries

        • Have you done it in-store?

          • +1

@ragms: no on the live chat i kept pushing them and told them that in-store Harvey Norman are giving the gift cards back on the same order. So they matched Harvey Norman I just bought it at $2136 from JB

            • +1

@themaindave: @themaindave Thank you!!! I've just got a 10%off via chat as well.

              • @ragms: Only offering me $1580
The consultant has a bit of sass to be honest 😂

                • +2

@lachhelix: Consultant I spoke to offered $2,320 for 65". Will hang fire for a bit.

                • +1

@lachhelix: Keep trying, eventually you'll get someone who will match it

                  • +1

@octeau: pulled the trigger for 2200 through jbhifii chat, nearly the 10% off. Thanks for tip

                • @lachhelix: How did you go in the end?

                  • +1

@octeau: I didn't bother, I don't really need another OLED so saved myself somewhere between $1400 and $1600 haha
Thanks for the follow up though :)

TGG come down to 2250 over the phone for 65. think they possibly might have gone cheaper as my local had no stock and she indicated she was a bit limited in what she could do because its on backorder.

    • +1

Saw this comment so called them and got the same from TGG. thanks!

  • Noice

  • +1

Bit the bullet, local HN had the 65 in store. After the GC ($239) tv is $2146 & if I sell the GC to someone at work for $200 still got tv for under $2200.

  • +3

The nice guy TGG did better than HN for the 77" CS at $3913 including delivery on Thursday,
With some gift cards, total paid is $3875

    • Oh nice!! What a win

    • That’s a cracker price @leznix, well done. Do you mind sharing the receipt?
