  • If you have mostly hard floors this has the right head?

    • +1

i think you would want the soft roller brush

  • Can anyone report if this is any good for dust mites? I read v15 has the laser feature as well as counting dustimites … but dang that’s a lot of money for a vaccum

    • +2

Go for V15 if you can afford it as the V10 (or V11, V12 for that matter) does not do particulate data. If you amortise the cost over the years and number of uses, I guess it's worth it if it is better for your health. Rough calculation, over 5 years, two uses a week, it's only $1 extra per use.

Reduce to the ridiculous.. you sure you don't work for Fitness First?

        5 (years) x 2 (uses per week) x 52 weeks in a year = $520 ..

        • Yep, relative to the V15 deal here.

What's the difference between this and the Absolute for another $100?

    • Absolute has older design rollers but also the fluffy head.

      • So this is better or worse?

        • +1

This (2022) model has the anti tangle features on the Motorhead bar so it’s very good for households with long hair or pet hair.

          • +5

            @ATangk: Thanks!

Dyson models always confuse the heck out of me

          • +9

            @ATangk:

very good for households with long hair or pet hair.

            Pet or wife

        • Depends on your floor as well as you will need the fluffy head for hard floor.

      • The 2022 v10 cyclone absolute has fluffy head and also the hair detangle feature on the motor bar head.

        • The pictures are misleading as half of them including the one with all the accessories does not show it. They don’t have the screw mini motor head though like this one. As for the other one, maybe?

          • +3

@ATangk: This is the one I bought recently for $699.

            https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/155074654829?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

Can confirm has anti tangle feature as well as fluffy head. But yeah Dyson models are confusing af.

            • @On1: Yeh for me absolute is where it’s at - fluffy head as I’ve got mostly hard floors plus more useful other parts - mini motor head included

              • -2

@gazer: The 2022 v10 comes with the conical anti tangle mini motor head, the absolute+ seems to have the old style one.

            • @On1: Thanks ! Good advice !

      • Absolute plus also has the updated tangle free roller.

      • +2

I've got the Absolute+ package, and the motor head is exactly the same.

The only difference is accessories, as the Absolute+ gives you more - but only if you need the extension bar, fluffy head, other bits n pieces …. then that's what you are paying for.

I've always gone with the "Absolute+" series, but this is $650 ($200 less than what I paid), and I honestly think this is better value.

I mainly use the fluffy head for tiles and floor boards, and the motor head. I only use the other attachments for the car, but hardly ever clean my car anyway.

        • -1

These new 2022 series have just as many accessories as the old absolute+ models.

          • +2

@ATangk: It's not about quantity of accessories, I've got a pile of useless accessories I never use.

It's about what type of accessory, and if people have hardwood floors or tiles, then they would find the Fluffy head accessory is useful, as I do with my Absolute+.

If it doesn't matter, then obviously it's not needed. And if ppl never knew the difference to start off with, then I doubt it would matter in decision making…

  • Hope v12 will be discounted too

Why would anyone buy over priced under performing Dyson products…

  • -4

Samsung jet 90 is much better at this price.

    • A quick search shows the Samsung jet 90 is at least $200 more expensive that this.

      • Was able to buy it at $750 including the clean station. Got at this price when jbhifi has 10% off n ultimate cards at 15% in Coles. Not long before

    • +4

As someone who contacted Samsung after sale support twice, coming away unhappy twice (100% strike rate), I'd hesitate. I have not experienced Dyson support yet, but other people on OB indicated they were happy (e.g. easy battery replacements after warranty period).

      • +8

Samsung is not good for after sales.

        • Truth is they aspire to be not good for after sales, a few steps up required to get to that level!

        • This is a well known fact even their core business mobile samsung only hire contractors in their Australia business for front line services meaning could not give 2 toss about after sales and and staff helping customers have zero loyalty since all are contractors who can be replaced by labour hire in 1 hour.

      • -2

Dyson gurantee is very good especially on the battery offering 5 7 10 year warranty.

        • +1

Where did you find such long warranty on battery?

          • -1

            @beesider: On their website.

            • @Jasonio: "Dyson offers a 2-year guarantee on all cordless machines and parts, including the battery"

            • +1

@Jasonio: Dyson warranty is 2 years not 5, 7, or 10 in Australia

  • What's the suction power?

  • +5

I got the V10 absolute about a month back, but about 6 min at max power, even I can last longer than that.

    • +4

More than 6 minutes at max power?? I call bullsh*t

    • +2

yeah, 100% you couldn't last more than 6mins at max.

  • +3

Not sure what to make of these Dysons. We had an earlier model that I loved when the first got it: so convenient, no hassle of a power cable, no hot air being pumped out into the room, no bags….
Not perfect though, as unless you kepp them charged up all the time they tend to run out of battery mid-clean. The small dust collection cylinder could fill up quickly too - the recent models have capacities about half the size so I expect to need to empty it two or three times for a large-ish room.
Suction power wasn't particularly great either, but good enough to do a passable clean up if you don't mind picking up lmedium-sized debris by hand.
As someone above commented, turbo-power drains the battery almost instantly

Two girls in our home like to brush their hair anywhere and everywhere, and the motorised head would often get clogged up. Unfortunately after removing the brush to clean it, it stopped spinning altogether. A year of diminishing use later and it has conked out completely - I think the battery might have died.

As much as I loved it at first, I didn't get five years of quality use our of it.
So I'm really not sure about the lasting value.

    • I have a 4yo dyson and replaced the battery with a generic one from eBay/Amazon. Has about 2 or 3 times the capacity of the stock one, was only $40 or so. Really good and has given the vacuum a new lease on life!

    • You need to do maintance on them.

    • +2

Only the V12 has a smaller capacity, all other Aussie models from V10 and up are either 770ml or 1.9l

Personal anecdotal experience suggests that V11 is the best model for longevity, followed by V8 for small houses and those willing to replace batteries after a few years. V10 is less reliable, and ages poorly in battery life compared to the V11 due to its far smaller 61Wh battery compared to V11's 91Wh. Have had to replace my brother's v10 battery after 3 years, whilst both my parents' and my V11s still get same battery life as when new 3 years ago.

Would say that the new anti tangle floor and mini heads would have been very useful for you, they avoid the hair problems that the old ones did.

just commenting as an individual on a personal level.

      • Thanks. Regarding battery life longevity, would you say it's better to keep them fully charged up, or to recharge only when the battery gets low?

  • The small dust collection cylinder could fill up quickly too - the recent models have capacities about half the size so I expect to need to empty it two or three times for a large-ish room.

Do you live in a tent with sand floors?
I'm not the tidiest guy but never got close to filling the canister on a v7 vacuuming a carpeted 25sqm room

  • How do these compare to the Ryobi double roller stick vacs.

I just got this deal for $639 using a code on the ebay app.

    • +1

Found it! I used coupon code: "SNSMD2W8MQ8KWM7M" to get a further $60 off from $699.
My checkout price is $639 delivered. Coupon code expires 31-12-2022

  • All the talk about v10 but honestly I think v8 still very good. Less heavy just like the good old v6 which with battery replacement has lasted my since 2016

I tried v10 in the shop didn't like it

  • Not really lowest price in terms of value

That was a V10 Absolute including Dok for $720

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/496550

Sold the Dok for $100 so only paid $620
    for an Absolute

Yet to see anything better than that and this is a raw deal in comparison

My V10 issues (got it in 2018?)

    The trigger will eventually break
When you squeeze the finger trigger, this pushes the trigger down into the battery activating the vacuum. This is due to the small strand of plastic that it connects into, over repeated use.

Buy this off Amazon ($7.50 for a replacement trigger) and put some elbow grease into it.
You need torx screwdriver, small rachet wrench (because of the awkward placement of a screw, pliers and also long and slender philips screwdrivers and one long and slender flat/slotted screwdriver to change this
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Odashen-Strong-Trigger-Switch-Clea…

    Battery replacement
Cost to remediate issue: 3 screws and time, +$150 from Dyson directly?
Power Connector on main body may break
Replacement of power connector from the main barrel side on body. The power connector gets connected/disconnected a lot (you need to take off the wand to empty the bin)
You can source one off another dyson wand (bottom side, since one is female and one is male).
Without repairing this, the power is not delivered to your accessories (rollers)
Cost to remediate issue: ("Wand") - $69
    https://www.dyson.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=969109
Take the male or female one off the wand (there's one on each side) and put it into the main body's power connector

    Consult Professor Youtube for guidance

Aside from the replacements I've had to do.. V10 is a solid vacuum

    • Useful advice !

  • The Absolute version with the fluffy/hard floor head would make this excellent value. Doesn't come with this listing though so I'd pass if you have hard floors.

  • First time planning to buy a DYSON VAC.

Can anyone clarify whether the customer support will be the same whether I buy this deal from the eBay store (which is 50AUD less) or is better if I purchase it from the official Dyson store?

    • As long as it's an Australian model, yes. Register the machine's silver sticker with Dyson when you get it and that'll count as your receipt and service log should you need support in future.

  • Is this a better deal or Samsung Jet 90 Pro if I can get it for $799 in the education store?

  • all sold out, out of stock

    • +2

      Back in stock
Can stack with shopback 15% cashback (cap $20) and Westpac lounge 15% cashback (cap $20)

      Brings down to $609

  • I see people talking about the fluffy head - what's wrong the existing attachments on floorboards/tiles?

  • Back in stock. Bought one today. Thanks

  • Even cheaper now, 10% off with code PLUSFLASH4 today!

  • I can't seem to get this code to work at my checkout (SNSDEC) - has anyone else had these issues?
I'm not a Plus member - but I didn't think you needed to be.

    • Are you using an Aust eBay account? I know people who created accounts a while ago when they were overseas did not think about updating when they moved to Oz…

      • Thank you for replying.
I definitely created my ebay account in the UK - but I've changed my registered addresses to Aus?

I did think it might have been this issue…

  • Code still working, bought Dyson 10 ultimate plus

  • The SNSDEC code appears to have expired now
