Strathfield Car Radios. Haven't heard this for quite awhile and have actually forgotten that this icon once existed. A blast from the past, indeed.

  • How To Know if this Fits my Car?

    • +3

its a standardised size, so if your car fits a 2 DIN unit, then it'll fit. if not, like if your car has a built in stereo unit for example, youll need to get something to convert it and fit an aftermarket stereo. your car may also need a harness kit to install as well. all depends on the kind of car you have

    • +9

go to aerpro.com.au, enter your vehicle details and the head unit and it'll show all the parts you need, if it is possible

  • Is it working for Nissan X-trail?

    • +2

refer to my comment above, but her it is just in case you miss it

go to aerpro.com.au, enter your vehicle details and the head unit and it'll show all the parts you need, if it is possible

  • Where do you go to get one of these installed? Every car audio place in Victoria seems to only install the radio if they sell it to you.

    • These direct sales are meant for DIY installation.

If you're looking for fitting as well, then absolutely buy directly from the installer - you also need multiple additional adaptors and parts to install into a modern car, they'll work out the full list and fit them all too.

What car do you have ?

      • Just a Corolla, I installed it fine but the previous owner had this Bluetooth thing installed so jankily that I can't seem to get the right wire for the hand brake to work, so our Bluetooth is (profanity) and we can't change any settings because the thing thinks we're moving when we're not.

All I need is someone to fix that one thing but apparently it's not worth anyone's time.

        • You need to find an auto electrician 👍

        • If I remembered correctly, you had to short one of the wires from the harness to the ground wire, while technically not allowed, because you are overriding the safety feature of the head unit. Think it was a green wire you join it to.

  • It is $899 at autobarn
    https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/In-Car-Tech/Aud…

Assuming you are not prepared to install it yourself (personally after doing it once I would pay next time) If you live in Sydney you could get Strathfield to install it for you and still be ahead.

Or any auto electrician if you live elsewhere.

  • Looking at getting this installed in my 2022 GSR Triton. Can anyone comment on this unit's responsiveness? Any lag?

    • +1

Seems responsive enough to me. Haven't had issues. Quite reliable.

    • can't comment on lag but it of curiosity, why replace the factory unit from a new car

      • My triton was MY22, due to the chip shortage, that range didn't receive the original Mitsubishi head unit, as well as the 360 camera. Instead, they put some nasty unit in that is woeful.

  • Just buy a newer car…much easier! I kid of course ☺️

  • Seems like a good deal if all you need is the head unit.

As another option, at least for my car, I can pay a ~$40 premium at Automotive Superstore (if you include the price of the harnesses, adapters, etc.) for a bundle with the same head unit which includes all of the necessary bits and pieces I need to make it work with my car (https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/audio-bundle-subaru-wrx-…).

Would save any trouble of accidentally ordering the wrong adapter/harness since they've done all the hard work for you.

    • i have eyed this bundle out before and it was a very good deal but in this case, after selecting the same Pioneer unit, the bundle price goes to ~$925. The harness and facia do not seem to be worth $300 extra, but you can also use this site as a guide on what to order.

      • They quoted me for all kinds of bits, some of which apparently I did not actually need, according to the guy I paid to order the parts and install my head unit (all works fine).

When I got this work done last year, there was a serious parts shortage in WA. I couldn't even get the head unit unless I ordered it from eBay from a shop on the East Coast. My installer was unable to get the fascia kit, and his suppliers quoted 2-3 months lead time. I did a lot of research, and found that "Metra" fascia kits can be ordered from the US through Amazon AU. In my case it worked out much cheaper and much faster than buying the Aerpro one from Australia. It would appear Metra is an OEM supplier to Aerpro. Just be careful to order the correct part number, as the website directed to the wrong one in my case.

  • Great price, cheapest ever?
