    Can't believe its $1400+ for a XX70 ti
    Crazy

    • Or you could think about it this way: Nvidia was originally planning to release this as a 4080 12GB model ;p

      • +1

Why is this downvoted? It's literally fact lol.

        • +2

And that smiley means it is a fun fact.
Some people here are just suffering from butt-pain XD

    • +6

Well the xx80 is now $2000 and xx 90 is $3000 so its relative i guess

    • +7

Still need to buy a GPU for my PC and I'm crying looking at prices rn

        • +2

Yeh no point complaining, I'll just wait for a good deal. Also we shouldn't just pay these ridiculous prices. We should stop buying but of course people are desperate and scalpers are a thing. A perfect world doesn't exist.

          • +7

@JamYomb: Not saying you should pay this $1409 right now, just saying you can't expect $500 for a 4070 GPU in the near future, but you can definitely HODL for the next couple of months for a better deal if you are not in a hurry for a new GPU now.

            • @edfoo: Oh yeh for sure. I am not at all expecting this card which is 3090ti level to be at 500 but 1400 on sale is a bit much. I'm chilling with a 1050ti so I can wait for a bit for some new better value releases or a cracka deal.

            • -8

@edfoo: you're wasting your time with these peeps, they want $500 70 series like back in 2070 super days.

let them squeal and cry. we move on with our new GPU.

Enjoy your Tuf 3080, its a beast of a card with great value.

              • @[Deactivated]: I know there are many disillusioned people here but I think JamYomb is genuinely shocked by the prices of GPUs nowaday. Not blaming him if he has not been following the history of how crypto mining has screwed up the GPU market from 2 years ago, and the market still has not recovered from that.

                • +6

                  @edfoo: Reminder that:
                  a) The second hand market exists. There are more working graphics cards in existence than what is required.
                  b) Graphics cards do not automatically go bad after they have been in someone else's system, and
                  c) By buying new, you are giving the green flag to Nvidia that these prices are okay. The prices are coming down already because no one is buying them.

                  • +1

@ASR-Briggs: It's the same as buying any other product isn't it? Do you prefer to pay more to buy new, or pay less to buy used? How much do you trust that used item?

                    • +2

@edfoo: But it's not the same as buying any other product second hand. Because the market for "any other product" is not as cooked as graphics cards are right now.

                      • @ASR-Briggs: What do you mean by "cooked"?
I think you've gone off the topic from what my post was about crypto mining affecting the GPU market.

                        • @edfoo: Not at all. Your very first comment in this thread is "You have to suck it up and just pay the price, they are not going to get much cheaper in the near future." And every reply I have made is in reference to that.

                          • @ASR-Briggs: That very first comment was assuming JamYomb planning to buy a brand new current gen GPU. Not talking about previous gen or used GPUs. And the fact the current gen GPU prices aren't going to get MUCH CHEAPER in the NEAR FUTURE is very likely to be true.

                            • @edfoo: He said that he needed "a GPU". You said he "has to" suck it up and pay the price. I've pointed out that's not necessarily true, because the second hand market exists. Not sure how to be more clear.

                              • @ASR-Briggs: Then you should have pointed it out to him, not to me.

                                • +1

@edfoo: He didn't specify new. But you automatically assumed. It seems it needed pointing out to you.

                • -8

@edfoo: ETH crypto mining added half trillion $US into the global circulation out of thin air. That money now exists in the pockets of the miners and traders.

ETH is still now sitting 1/3rd of its all time peak value, and still 10x more than before covid.

The horse already bolted, there's no turning back. Those that left behind remains poor and cannot afford just have to accept reality.

Hopefully next time these JamYomb can learn from their past mistakes and act on the opportunity to be richer.

                  • +3

@[Deactivated]: ETH did no such thing. It's phantom market cap BS. There no value justify its price.

ETH is useless, all you can do it hope some other idiot takes it off your hands for real money. Basically all crypto is.

                  • @[Deactivated]:

ETH crypto mining added half trillion $US into the global circulation out of thin air.

Please explain how you think this happened.

                • +1

@edfoo: GPU sales are at a 20 year all time low, nvidia and amd are completely delusional.

              • @[Deactivated]: Do you also fanboy over bank fees? What the hell is wrong with you?

                • @ssfps: Its just non-LHR up to his old tricks. Best not to take him seriously.

                  • @purplebangle: its just you and jimmy old tricks. best not spend the $500 on GPU, maybe some groceries is better.

                    • +2

@[Deactivated]: Alright mate. "Jimmy" "Homer" "$500" "Rod" "mining", we've heard it all before, you're sounding like a broken record in every thread.

                      • @purplebangle: You sounded like this non-lhr on every thread. What are you? miner?

                        Mining is dead, move on.

      • +2

Unless it's for work, just join the console peasant class for a couple of years. Trade in the Bugatti for a Camry and move to a less affluent suburb. Stop saying 'mate', start saying 'moit'. You'll fit right in.

        • +1

Apparently we can't have opinions without getting downvoted. I got a console as well but I decided to explore PC gaming. Decided at the worst time. Chilling with a borrowed 1050 ti from a mate which is def doing fine at low settings.

          • -5

@JamYomb: no you can have your opinions, that's why I got 14 negs for the same item yesterday: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/749747

            • +7

@[Deactivated]: Complaining about a card that's double the price of it's predecessor the 3070ti for around 20-30% more performance is justifiable. NVIDIA is scamming the market and it's consumers.

              • -1

@JamYomb: as opposed to amd, who is also doing the exact same thing
the consumer doesnt win, the producer does, its like poker, the house always wins

              • -3

@JamYomb: rather than complaining about GPU price doubled, try to focus on how to make your wealth 3-4x more than before covid. That way you can afford anything you want to buy. There are many ways doing it than crypto mining.

          • +2

@JamYomb: a few months ago was one of the best times to get into PC gaming but it seems its gone back to bonkers again. When DDR5 comes down a bit hopefully will coincide with this gen GPU's dropping also. If you can, its worth waiting out a bit I reckon

      • +2

Have a look on marketplace for a 3080 they can be had second hand from $700-900 with remaining warranty

        • Exactly what Mujibar and I did.

          • @[Deactivated]: Nice I'm scouring market place now it's insane retailers still selling 3080s new for $1250-1350 when this is out

            • @solidussnake: if you get lucky you find a generous miner who made heaps during mining boom.

all his 3080s 10gb already reached ROI end 2021.

He's practically giving those 3080s for 'free'

  • Now we just need a xx60 for under $700

    • +8

My guess is 4060 will be around $1000 later this year.

      • +2

and 4060 Ti around $1200. and will hover around that until 50xx out in 1-2 years.

for $500, they can get 3060 new or used miners 3070 maybe. Both still an Ok card for 1080p gaming.

its not the end of the world.

        • +1

6700xt can be had for $450 and thrashes the 3060 and beats the 3070. It slays 1080p and is great for 1440p

        • You've forgotten the 4070 entirely, which should be at least $100 USD cheaper than the 4070 Ti in US MSRP.

    • -1

Good luck with that…. nsidia are gonna charge $700 for rtx4050

      • -2

The xx50 and base xx60 SKUs have been artificially limited in chip size and scope for 2 generations now in order to keep them cheap, they should be reasonably priced, just not really pushing performance against the upper tier SKUs.

        • -3

Mate why downvote… the 2060 was 34/36 SM so they offered the 1660 series, the 3060 was 28/30 SM, the 4060 is expected to be 30/36 SM.

So you're not seeing the core count rise, just the architectural gains while they mess with VRAM bandwidth and bus width.

The 4060 will still remain in the USD $250-$400 range, and that's highlighted by the announced AD106 and AD107 laptop costs (starting at $999 for the 4050).

If those entry level laptops now have better cooling or more compact designs, or better base monitor panels than the garbage that gets served up in the budget segment, then the number will likely sit in the $279-$329 range.

  • The 4070 TI's kinda made the 4080's look better, really tempted to grab this rn

Its a lottery but you win no matter which one you get

    • +4

The 4080 really makes the 4090 look like good value!
The 4070ti really makes the 4080 look like good value!

      <—- We're currently here

The 4060ti really makes the 4070ti look like good value!
The 4050 @ $600 really makes the 4060 Ti look like great value!

  • +6

    I like to reminisce when i bought a 1080ti for $999aud 5 years ago.

    • +5

I think 1k for a very high end 4070 ti would be fair with the increased manufacturing costs. Not these prices though.

      • +1

The design of these chips and cards completely accounted for this, alongside NVIDIA taking an extra margin, then TSMC increased prices in the wake of their expansion plans and post-shortage costs and NVIDIA continued to demand their margins.

Under NVIDIA's old standard and without TSMC's increased costs - which took 5/4nm wafer prices back to 2020 levels - the MSRP of the 4080 would still be $699.

Now NVIDIA can justify gross margin going up 10-15% for consumer products if they're expanding their R&D, as well as software development, but 40%? They can (profanity) off.

    • +1

1080ti was the best card I had
Bought it for 1k , sold it for $700 3 years later
      Can't bear that value

    • what a bloody awesome card it still is too ~ asside from RTX (which no body seems to use) its a beast on par with the 2070/3060ti @1440/4k and overkill at 1080P still

  • +1

The 3070ti's were in this price bracket for the past couple of years during the madness.

    • +6

Agree, now it's as if the madness continues.

      • +1

Yep - had to bite the bullet and buy a second hand 3070 for an offspring a few months ago.
        Couldn't wait for ever.
Seems prices have gone back up to early 2022 levels. Why?

        • +2

No real value competition in the current generation sent people back to 3000 series which inflated prices.

    • +3

But the roi was from mining… the card paid itself… now not the case

      • only if you start mining from early 2021 not 2022.

  • +3

    The renamed RTX 4080 12GB 🫢

    • -1

If they wanted to sell it side by side with rtx3000 series, they should have just called it rtx3100 and that way you can charge more than rtx3080 for it

  • +8

For people who need performance chart for most GPU for specific resolution, very good and detailed comparison here https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html,

    • wow can't believe they updated the graph instantly as soon as the new card came out, really impressed by tomshardware

    • -6

      Dumb neg is dumb.

      Can't afford it? Bad luck.

    • About as dumb and useless as your comment yesterday….

      Nah… I'll take it at $500.

      • -2

14 Negs on the same item yesterday: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/749747

        • -4

Ignore them. I and many others appreciate the deals.

          • -1

@scuderiarmani: if they think a bit more, they can see it as price watch. if more deals posted on different prices they can see the trend. some peeps are just not getting it.

they should appreciate the people who put together the deal as they already done the price check, stock check, etc.

            • @[Deactivated]: Exactly, I'm keen to see how they trend atm.

If we see them $1400 this month, $1200 in March etc etc

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: Don't take the negs personally. You aren't the product.

        • +5

You post an RRP deal for a stocked item to OzBargain and then act all Pikachu surprised face when you get negs..

          • @bboT: and you expect $500 for it, get real.

            • @[Deactivated]: Huh?

Honestly not sure what you mean.

              • +1

@bboT: many trolls yesterday expect the price is $500 like what rod said when he posted 2070 Super or whatever.

comparing 2070 super with 4070 Ti, what a dumb.

                • +2

                  @[Deactivated]:

many trolls yesterday expect the price is $500 like what rod said when he posted 2070 Super or whatever.

What on earth does that have to do with me?

Please be less salty and move on.

          • -3

            @bboT: Welcome to 2023

It's not 2020 anymore. Stock problems are real.

            • +4

@scuderiarmani: In stock, under RRP, day 1 post launch - this post

In stock, RRP here and here after a 2 second google as well.

This entire post existing 1 day later proves that stock issue are not like it is in your imagination.

              • @bboT: RRP is $1429 for founders that doesn't exist.

most AIB usually costs $100 more, so either $1409 or $1479 are still 'deal' for some

                • +5

@[Deactivated]: Look, I didn't neg your previous post, but just look at what the community telling you. Still being in stock at RRP across multiple stores, combined with being beaten by $70 the next day, means your post deserved some criticism.

Think of it this way - anyone who purchased yesterday based on your recommendation basically overpaid $70.

                • @[Deactivated]: Just a wild guess here, people were at least partly negging because of the OP (non-lhr).

                  • @purplebangle: what's non-lhr? 40xx series has no LHR or non-lhr. ETH mining is dead last year.

    • +2

If this is the cheapest in Australia and I believe it to be. Why wouldn't it be a bargain for the current climate?

      • In his words, he said to wait on $400 3060 because..

If you waited this long, you may as well wait for the RX 7900XT/XTX to come out next week, prices on these old GPU will be even cheaper.

        Lol
