Uh didn't realise it was yours, feel for you.

Most of the negs were overwhelmingly stupid anyway.

Give it a while, they aren't getting cheaper. They'll hopefully fob off.

        • +4

Stop being so salty and crying about this 10 times in a post spamming it. Just move on alright

      • +3

Someone is upset because they paid too much for GPU.

        • Nope. Someone entitled is living in the past.

        • +1

Sounds like more are upset they are still flogging their 1060's

  • +6

gaming nexus said wait till after jan as nvidia should drop prices as they cannot sell the 4080

    • Is that what he's getting from his sources? Don't really need anything atm and can wait a month or two but at the same time getting a bit antsy.

      • +9

Tech Jesus is as good as any of them to listen to. Probably the best.

      • +2

        Yeah i'm gonna wait.

        Have a 3080gtx playing 4k on a 42 inch c2 LG oled and 5950x.

Only games i get 30fps is star citizen and portal rtx.

Will sell the 3080gtx for $900/$1000 as it still has warranty this year and then upgrade to 4080 when it's $1700

        • I heard they are doing some fine tuning for Star Citizen …

          • @troyww: Hope so. Would help if they added dlss.

Game is amazing don't believe the hate.

        • +2

          Rtx

    • im waiting anyway, not in a desperate need to upgrade and would rather invest in other things first (e.g 3d printer)

  • +5

Lol bad value, similar speeds to a 3080 that cost the same 2 years ago at launch.

    • -2

3080 launch price was A$1139. 4070 Ti beats 3090 Ti so not that similar?

    • -1

You mean 3090 Ti with lower power….

      It's actually good in comparison.

2 years ago is so damn irrelevant anyway. How many picked up a 3080 for $1139 anyway?

      • +11

2 years ago there were no stocks, full mining, COVID. So it should be cheaper now. This is a really small die and cheaper to produce despite being on TSMC. Just NVIDIA and AMD and retailers price gouging even on older cards

        • i mean covids still around in aus, and especially in china

          • @Pugkin: True, what I meant was chip shortage we saw back then due to covid as everyone wanted to WFH and wanted a computer.

            • @John Doh: yeah, the price dropped, then amd and nvidia released a new gen with higher rrp so everyone bought 30/6000 which reinflated the prices

        • AMD aren't overcharging, but the top tier performance is about 10%-15% short of where they wanted to be.

First gen tech, didn't account for enough of the issues.

        • -2

SP remains strong and 3x than prior to covid: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/NVDA/

nothing to worry about. let the MSRP stays as is.

There are many cards to be had for under $500, even Mujibar bought $800 3080 Ti still with warranty.

  • +5

Surely the 7900 XT at the same price as this is a no brainer. This card gives you last gen performance

    • -5

It beats a 3090ti at lower power usage?

For around half of the price they were for a long time….

      • +5

According to Tom's hardware it's 5% slower at 4k ultra than the 3090ti. And the 7900XT beats it. Which is why in every other market the 3070ti is cheaper than the 7900xt.

        • +1

AMD cards are pulling well ahead in games designed or optimised for consoles, not surprisingly, like F1 and COD.

Many PC centric titles it's the other way.

          • +2

@scuderiarmani: Not really that much of a difference tbh.

            • @John Doh: Well under half the cost per frame compared to a 3090ti on Hardware Unboxed.

Also better at 1080p (yeah not my choice)

      • This is just classic nvidia gaslighting you. 3090ti launched at height of gpu mining and then had its price slashed in half in just 3-4 months. Also 4070ti is still slower than 3090ti at 4k because nvidia cheaped out on the bus width.

    • +1

Either of these cards at this prices are for no -brain-ers ;)

      • Nice insult to anyone who purchases one hey….

        • +1

Homer shouldn't be negging this, he usually nice and reasonable.

  • +7

This card is supposed to make 4080 look better but makes AMD look like a better buy.

    All too expensive

  • +10

    Insane price creep, horrific value.

    • yep this is a no deal

  • +2

Wow 3090 performance for $1400. I feel for the first wave of hodlers who paid $2500 in June after they were $3500-$4000 since launch

  • +3

this card is rubbish - compare it to 6800 xt its maybe 20% faster and double in price at the moment
some games they are even in 1440 p

  • +2

Wait for radeon 7800xt and 7700xt.

  • +1

Surely a 6900 xt for <$1200 has this covered

    • +1

      Mate, they go for $999

      • -1

Unsure why you'd think I'm talking used but ok

        • +1

6900 xts were $999 new not long ago

          • +1

@botchie: We can't shop for things based on historical lows mate.

            • @drprox: Meh, I bet you they will be under that price in next few weeks , there are heap of stock that's not moving, price will be just cheaper not more expensive

          • @botchie: well the last one was centre-con in the start of Dec
            2nd last $999 was mid-late October

      • they did for a while ages ago

  • +1

Simply no need to post this as a bargain when someone already mentioned this in TimeMachine’s post yesterday.

  • +1

Terrible deal. Apologies to OP though.

  • +1

Why would anybody buy this garbage card lmao

    • +1

Because 3090 is either out of stock or way more than this, which this card performs on-par/better to while being more power efficient

  • +3

feels weird that people flip flop between "the x0x0 is just a number" and "x price for a x0x0 card, thats too much" pick a lane.
Personally more appealing then spending $1200 on a preowned 3090 or $1199.999 for a 3080, its a more power efficient card and performs pretty well.

    • -1

You must be a kid or just got into PC world
GPUs have always been set in price in the past , top tier card was $$xxx , each generation
Then the mining came in and skewed the market , jump from a 1080 to 2080 was huge , went back a bit with 3xxx cards ( at launch at least ) and now the 4xxx card it's gone through the roof again
It's clear the current price is just to gauge ppl but you go ahead and pay
Most ppl won't and are happy to wait
Not many games out there that will make a huge difference, maybe few enthusiast that game in 4k etc but not enough to hold the market price

      • +1

well thanks for immediately resorting to conclusion jumps and insults, very mature
20 series struggled due to the value of 10 series compared to the incompetence of gen 1 rtx
then along came 30 series, which was significantly better in terms of price, but of course, covid.
up to nov-2019 i was using a 2011 mac mini that was always 2 seconds away from cooking itself, until it did
i was out of the loop due to budget and then covid
then by 2022 i could finally afford a new gpu, but kept waiting for those elusive deals everyone spoke of, that never reared their heads so i instead bought preowned
dont get me wrong, i do miss the days of $279 8gb rx570 (although not rx500 itself cause… yikes)
i generally upgrade for productivity, most game i play are indie so idc about 4k 460 or whatever, i just use 2x2k 1x1k monitors and use blender/cad, which limits me to nvidia. As of late i am trying to upgrade my 3060 ti, preowned 3080 cost nearly as much as 3090 which cost ~$1200, so actually $1400 for a more power efficient 3090 is not massively absurd to me.

sorry for the rant… but im petty

        • +2

I've been gaming for 25 years and GPUs were usually under 1k
CPUs price went down while their productivity went up but with GPUs people are defending prices up with performance up?
It's just a lack of competition, and mining .
Mining is now out , prices should be lower
          I wouldn't pay this price , simple
If you don't mind go for it , I'm just giving my opinion

          • @botchie: Mate. Houses cost peanuts 25 years ago. Petrol was cheap. Groceries were cheap.

            Things change.

You aren't getting $500 high end GPUs ever again. Full stop.

            • +2

@scuderiarmani: Yes things change but why cheap CPU and expansive GPU ?

            • +3

@scuderiarmani: House price shouldn’t compare to GPU, as house hold it’s value if not appreciate. GPU should compare to CPU, TV, phone, MacBook, cars… none of these increase their price as GPU with the upgrade or newer models. GPU price just too insane compared to all other electrics.

              • @stevelo: Cars have increased in price. Significantly.

So thanks for proving my point.

          • +1

@botchie: Over the last 10-20 years GPU perf/$ has improved much more than CPU but new we have extra higher price tiers. The top gaming GPU was Titan before with very poor perf/$ ratio btw.

            • @DmytroP: really? you would say GPU has improved more then CPU - we used to have one core and it cost 2k :)

              • @botchie: If you compare for example the last 10 years, in 2012 we had i7-3770K, about 9-10x slower in MT and ~2.5x in ST load, with GPUs we had GTX 690 at 2x3 TFLOPS and 4090 with ~80 TFLOPS FP32. So actually quite comparable.

Over 15 years - Intel Core2 Extreme Q6800 was around 30x slower in MT or 4x at ST, while GeForce 9800 GT was around 250x slower (using FP32 GFLOPS for approximate comparison).

      • +3

Let it go…. Let it go….

It's 2023. No one cares what you paid for your 7800gtx.

        It's irrelevant now.

  • +1

I think you have the comparison's all wrong, don't compare this with the 3080ti/3090 it trades blows with and the prices that were paid for them just a year ago but rather the XBOXx/PS5 you can buy for half the money! On its own, the 4070ti 12gb does 4k RTX around 50-60fps and with DLSS3 1440>4k at 90-120 fps. This should keep you happy for a long time to come!

    • i mean for gaming its completely fair to compare pc/console performance, but theres a lot only on steam. Until consoles improve multitasking/multidisplay (although xbox does have discord now) its still comparing apples and oranges

    • +3

      Really? Consoles? Please.

Incredibly pointless comparison. People use PC's for other things too…

      • So pointless that Linus literally made the same comparison in his 4070 Ti review here at 18:29: https://youtu.be/jKmmugnOEME

        Maybe you know better though.

        • -1

Or the 6 people who up voted my comment. But maybe you know better though.

Consoles are already struggling with performance in games. A refresh is already overdue.

Consoles are also sold at heavy losses. But I guess you wanna ignore that too…. Cause you know better, right?

    • LOL imagine comparing consoles with PCs.

  • +3

    Needs to drop another 200-300.

    • +1

id say thats definitely more feasible then the $700 some think is possible. prices will likely drop a bit anyway as the gen settles in

      • +3

No way it will be $700, but current pricing is silly.

For $1400, I would be expecting the 4080.

        • What is the price people would buy it? $1000 ?

          • +2

@SickDmith: No idea, I'm not most people.

            Personally:
            4090 ~2000
            4080 ~1500
            4070ti ~1100
            4060 ~ 800

            • +4

@Ctn: Refreshing to see someone actually suggest realistic prices.

As opposed to nothing over $1k….

            • -5

@Ctn: still above $500 rod's budget and jimmy $370. you still get lots of negs and backlash with that pricing.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: when can you stop mentioning Rod and his $500 budget, and whining about your posts being negged? Really tired of seeing your every reply with "Rod" "$500" "Negging", cmon man, enough is enough

                • -3

@Smilence03: Negging a deal because you cannot afford to buy it is dumb.

Having a low budget for mid-upper tier GPU is also dumb.

Its like buying Tesla Model 3 with $20k budget and complaining to the dealer and posting bad review on internet.

          • +1

@SickDmith: 4080 - as soon as it drops under $1,500 I'd buy it.
4070 ti - needs to be closer to $1,000 imo
4090 - is so far ahead in performance they can price it where ever they want. $2,200 tops is what I'd pay for it

  • +1

Great, just another $500-$600 to go.

  • +4

    Bad value
