[Kogan First] Steam Deck 64GB $849, 256GB $999, 512GB $1199 Delivered @ Kogan

2970

Kogan are selling all variants of the Steam Deck. Appears to be the first major Australian retailer to sell the Steam Deck though there are other marketplace sellers if you want to roll the dice on warranty. Press Start has a roundup of some cheaper alternatives here. The 256GB price is approximately $100 more expensive than a VPN/US card/post forwarding solution that works out to $891.25 AUD based on Shipito (Oregon tax-free) and Mastercard exchange rates. That $100 might be worth it for people who want Australian warranty and to avoid the complexities of shipping it yourself (your mileage with Kogan warranty may vary). Also keep in mind the extensive self-repair options.

If you are holding out for a local stockist, bets are EB will stock it with similar price to the US (based on Valve index sales) though there has been no announcement. Also the AUD is expected to climb against the USD this year.

  • purchased from tech tack on catch on the 10th, 'dispatched' on the 16th, has been waiting to be processed for delivery since the 18th.

spoke to someone at auspost and they said that all they had was the paperwork, and that the package hadn't actually been scanned. sent messages to tech tack through catch and just received automatic responses each time.

what a waste of time lol - anyone else actually get their deck from tech tack, either on catch or kogan?

    • Ordered on the 12th. Mine still says on its way on AusPost app.

    • I ordered on Monday the 9th, and waited 10 days while it stayed listed as processing.
Pretty upsetting when they say 1-2 days to ship and I paid for express postage.
Ended up messaging them and they gave no further information except they knew of the issue, I ended up asking for a refund which was processed 5 days later.
I checked the tracking this morning out of curiosity and it still says processing..

    • Bought mine on the 9th from tech tack directly.

Shipped wed. Delayed for processing until yesterday. Now it has pinged at a dist centre nearby.

    • just got a call from auspost and they mentioned they'd just received the package today, very glad that's settled

      should arrive friday hopefully

Ordered mine on the night of 17th shipped out on the 18th arrived on the 19th was pretty happy with how fast it got here, that was through Kogan being the sender not a 3rd party seller.

Anyone order the 512Gb? The shop page says it’s to be shipped in 1-2 weeks but my order history page says it’s gonna be shipped on mar 23.

    • Direct from Kogan? Or the one processed via Tech Tack?

    • Bought the 256gb but had a similar situation. My order said end of the month and the product page said one week. It ended up shipping on the product page date, not the order date. The product ships on a first-come first-served basis.

    • Same boat - 512 ordered and page was showing March. Confirmed with Kogan CS that the March date is correct and page date is incorrect but they haven’t changed it yet.

      • Should ask for a refund. That's like a 3 month delay

        • I actually did, swapped to the 256gb since it had a date of February 3rd (which is still shown on the website). That’s also been delayed - Feb 22.

          • @cdla9: Is this showing up in your order history? My 64GB says 3rd of feb in the order history, the same as it is on the web page.

            • +1

@Bohlin: Mine is showing Feb 22 in my order history - but it’s the 256 model

          • +1

@cdla9: Ordered my 512gb on 23rd, started processing warehouse at 30th, dispatched 31st. Not too bad. Although I don’t understand why payment processing took a week.

      • Strange how long it takes since steam deck purchases require no reservation.

      • Now the product page says ships in 1-2 days!

Got my Gioneda 1TB nvme delivered today, easy installation.

Ordered on 13 Jan, took exactly 2 weeks to arrive. Not bad with the Lunar New Year and Australia Day in between!

    • Ordered mine on the 13th but yet to arrive

      • Ordered my Gioneda 1TB from Alibaba on the 13th. Shipped on the 17th. Arrived in Australia on the 23th. Now it is saying Package from YTO Global ' Ready for Processing ' At this rate I would be lucky to have it by mid February. My 64 gb steam deck arrived yesterday and I am ready to upgrade

    • Mine arrived today, I did a KDiskMark test on the 64gb and then the 1TB.
There was a huge difference in speed between the two, but the 1TB was not as fast as the one in that reddit post.

  • Waiting on delivery from Auspost… Tracking said expected delivery 24th-27th January.. Called up to find the last location which said it was 'Ready for Processing' on Monday - apparently it got checked in at Chullora then. So it may or may not turn up at this point going by the reviews there 😅

  • Just received my HeyBattery order sent via Amarax.

Unit comes with a power adaptor for AU.

Ordered on 12/1 and only sent on 17/1. Arrived in Melbourne on 25/1 but Amarax has significant delays for Melbourne Metro such that I only received it today 31/1. Amarax website said it was scheduled for delivery on 27/1, but it never came. Website updated this morning that it was on-board with driver.

Bloody…. the amount of times I went the front door today each time a car drove by…

    hi all

prices updated this morning for kogan

    64gb - 796.95
    256 - 899.95
    512 - 1153

have submitted a price protect claim on my 256 unit purchased at 1008 :) cheering!

    • Is there a special way you fill out the price protect claim? I sent through an informal request via their normal support channels asking if they could honour the price, is there a better way to do it? I also wasn’t sure if a retailer like Kogan would do it

      • Sorry I should have clarified the price protect is a protection afforded by old 28 degree latitude card holders

        • Ah, that sucks - I could just cancel and replace the order as mine hasn’t shipped yet but I’m afraid of losing my place in queue, as it seems like they’re being deceptive with shipping times in some orders.

          • +1

@Bohlin: Op was in similar issue, they gave him store credit

            @henrew can you confirm

            • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yeah last time this happened Kogan gave me store credit

              • @Bliss point: Okay sweet - I sent through an email through the customer care channels as soon as I noticed the price difference so I have a paper trail, do you reckon that’s enough?

                • +1

@Bohlin: Yeah I didn't have anything special, just emailed with the order number. Mind you, this was when my order was still a preorder so I'm not sure if that affects when they hand out store credit.

                  • @Bliss point: Thanks guys, I appreciate the bargaining support - I’m hoping they honour it as it’s a presale and not due to ship until Friday, so I’d imagine it’d be easy for them to adjust - just a matter of them wanting to or not so close to the ship date hahaha

                  • @Bliss point: His one looks to be preorder too

                    • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: for anyone curious and still doing their research, it seems Kogan is being misleading with their 3rd of Feb dispatch date promise - my 64GB model was delayed to 22nd of Feb, and it seems from other comments that the other models are experiencing delays as well, so take the advertised dispatch date with a grain of salt at best

                      • +1

@Bohlin: Unfortunate - the first batch was advertised ship 17, mine shipped 14th I think, I got it for 18th

    • +1

That is a ridiculously good deal for 256gb.feels bad for anyone who already ordered it.

      • +1

        Can confirm. Feels bad.

  • Due to this significant price drop, it should be posted as a new deal (for visibility), rather than this existing deal be updated. I have reverted the update so that the OP or someone can do post it again at the new price.

    Steam Deck 64GB $859, 256GB $1045, 512GB $1299 Delivered @ Kogan

    Now:

    [Kogan First] Steam Deck 64GB $796.95, 256GB $899.95, 512GB $1153.95 Delivered @ Kogan

    Thanks

  • I paid $808 for mine via Kogan. Not much of a price drop for me.

  • So how does this work with cracked games? Eg games that are just ma ually added to the steam library. I'm guessing you'd need to be running Windows for that

  • Anyone going for a dual boot setup? I bought a 512gb sd card for windows so I can use the epic games launcher. Couldn't be arsed to use heroic launcher.

  • Ok upgraded my 64GB to 256GB and now to 512GB.
Got a 256GB spare SSD to sell.

    • You should have bought a 1tb and then you would have only had to upgrade it once.

    • how much? dm me
