[Kogan First] Steam Deck 64GB $849, 256GB $999, 512GB $1199 Delivered @ Kogan

2970

Kogan are selling all variants of the Steam Deck. Appears to be the first major Australian retailer to sell the Steam Deck though there are other marketplace sellers if you want to roll the dice on warranty. Press Start has a roundup of some cheaper alternatives here. The 256GB price is approximately $100 more expensive than a VPN/US card/post forwarding solution that works out to $891.25 AUD based on Shipito (Oregon tax-free) and Mastercard exchange rates. That $100 might be worth it for people who want Australian warranty and to avoid the complexities of shipping it yourself (your mileage with Kogan warranty may vary). Also keep in mind the extensive self-repair options.

If you are holding out for a local stockist, bets are EB will stock it with similar price to the US (based on Valve index sales) though there has been no announcement. Also the AUD is expected to climb against the USD this year.

Kogan 256gb marked sold out now

For those looking to upgrade the SSD to 1TB, I just bought this from Alibaba - seems to have good reviews across Steam Deck users on Reddit, Whirlpool, etc.

    https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Gioneda-2230mm-Nvme-1…

    Comes to about $167 shipped.

I've also noticed the new Sabrent 1TB is selling for $229 on Amazon if you want to spend a bit extra to get a more named brand.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/SABRENT-Rocket-2230-Performance-SB…

    • I think Alibaba one just went on sale. 1TB for $147 (12% off i believe).

I'm going to get the Sabrent one as it should line up well with the delivery from kogan. Thanks mate

      • You need to add shipping and tax on the Alibaba one.

        • +1

oops my bad - decided to go for the Gioneda one lol

    • I didn't realise the Sabrent was going to be available so quickly. I should've grabbed the 64GB and upgraded! Oh well, too late - the Decks have started shipping.

      • In that case buying a 512gb or 1tb microsd might be a better option I guess.

Recommendations for a quality dock ex Australia? Not many options on amazon and no options kogan

    • +2

Apparently JSAUX is the most popular third party option for a Steam dock but worth noting is that the official dock has regular firmware updates. JSAUX has firmware updates too but requires a Windows PC to flash the firmware. JSAUX docks are also known to block a portion of the air intake vent on the Steam Deck (which seems to be easily solved by moving the Steam Deck towards the right)

      • Hoping Kogan can import some official docks too haha

Is everyone just preordering the jsaux one direct? Couldnt find any listings amazon/Kogan.

        • Yeah I'll grabbing from JSAUX direct. Luckily they offer free shipping

        • Just ordered the V1 jsaux dock. Might regret that as it doesn't have GB Lan… probably want it more of a charging solution than for any real docking solution - looks like the Deck doesn't work as a USB device so can't just transfer files from windows - therefore USB speed doesn't seem to be much of a problem.

First have to find out what charger the Expansys Deck will arrive with…!

    • Do you need to see the screen or is it ok to just use the monitor? I mean there's a lot of business level docks, used on ebay which may work great.

      • Nah don’t care about seeing screen as it’s going to be on big screen anyway but would like it to be sitting neatly on desk or entertainment unit.

  • My 64gb steam deck sold by kogan has been processed and sent out

    • 256 still process . sad

      • +1

My 256GB has been marked as shipped. They might have 'em all sent out by the end of the day?

        • Doin it in order I guess… neither of my orders filled yet…

  • +1

    Order dispatched!

    LFG!!!!

Edit looks like only been consigned about 1 hr ago, doubt anything going to actually happen till Monday at earliest.

    • +1

Good to hear! Hope it's a quick delivery.

      • Looks like due between Tuesday and Thursday!

        • +1

          Same update from Auspost.
          Mon - Wed delivery.

  • Mine has been marked as delayed for processing since Wednesday :(

  • Mine shipped mid last week and I hope to see it tomorrow ;) Order from Vchain Sat 7th

    • +2

Same as everyone else from vchain. Should be getting it next week.

      • Mine also shipped mid last week, the Track on Catch is just saying "Left Warehouse", but is showing as a Pre-Alert, whatever that means.

    • Arrived.. wooop wooop!! So many updates lol

  • +1

i'm still not getting this (i'm 1 of those people against buying this gray import style)

However i just checked this morning, Dicksmith's is back in stock for the 512gb model at $1210 (member price) or $1262 (non member price). Shaves a bit off the kogan price

  • 256 is back in stock w Kogan at $1008 and now has an option of express freight for $4 extra if you're already a memeber

  • Is this out of stock now?

    • Nah it was out of stock on the weekend, just haven't updated the deal yet with new lower prices. Will update now

My steamdeck just arrived!! All legit. Charges and powers on, even came with an AU plug adaptor. Super stoked.

    • Congrats, time to start emulating!

  • PSA:

You can buy a 2280 SSD and cut it to 2230. Here's a thread discussing it, not much risk IMO since you can easily see the traces at the back. Grab a 1TB SSD for ~$100 and you got a true Ozb certified Steam Deck

  • +1

Just arrived! Kogan sold model is the US version and comes with 45w cygnett charger

    • +1

is it everything i ever i imagined it to be and will it change my life (pls say yes bro)

      :')

      • +2

        Yes bro

    • The charger is actually worth 60 bucks… So subtract that and its only 740 you're paying for the steam deck (the charger is a multi-port charger). Makes it a little more palatable.

      • That’s actually amazing I was expecting a crappy no name 240v adapter

      • @ruddaga
just confirming, i need another usb c cable right? i looked through all the packaging, the one on the default steam deck power supply is not removeable…and the cygnett one doesnt include one…

        • I dunno. I mean i have that many usb c cables lying around i havent even opened the cygnett one yet.

    • Mine only came with the original Valve Steam Deck power adaptor and an AU converter. Did you get that as well as the Cygnett?

      • I ordered from the Kogan store one. Not the third parties so he aware of that. no converter cos not needed. Have the random USA power plug tho

      • +1

Yeah I got both. The ones sold via Kogan got the Cygnett charger.

    • How long did yours take to arrive? I just ordered mine 256gb shipped out by Kogan.com it said, only now just been dispatched I’m based in Victoria.

  • Received mine from VChain via Kogan.
Swapped out the internal SSD with a 256GB.
    Now reimaging SteamOS.

    • Was it as easy as they make it out to be?

      • Easy. Probably like 6/10 difficulty level.

  • Ordered and received 256 gb model from tech tack seller.
Runs perfectly and even came with an international adapter.

  • +1

Make sure to sniff the vent

    • I'm so glad it's not just me

  • Ordered mine on the 9th from Tech Tack off Kogan. Delivery said delayed since Wednesday. Just got off help with Auspost and they apparently don't even have the parcel. What a hassle.

    • Ive been checking my tracking daily and its been stuck at 'received and ready for processing' since sunday. I think auspost has been dicking around with parcels lately as ive had a few like that.

    • Exactly the same for me. Delayed since Thursday though.

  • ordered direct from kogan 13th
looking at tracking expecting it tomorrow.

    not bad.

    invoice confirms cygnett charger included.
Charger rrp in aus looks to be $64.95 according to jb… so seems like a great deal.

    • +1

Yup yup. Had a quick play around with some titles. Pretty damn impressive

    • +2

@Jimothy Wongingtons yeah I got a email from Kogan saying they were out of stock of the cygnett charger. I guess they will dispatch the deck and charger separately i hope, as the email said they won’t have stock of the charger till February 24th. Anyways I work at jbhifi and can just get one cheap on staff. Ordered mine yesterday just got dispatched at 2pm today. Hopefully some tracking updates over night 🤞

      • Do you have a link to the one that includes a Cygnett charger?

        • @HomeAlone I believe most of if not all variants of steam decks sold by Kogan or 3rd party sellers provide some sort of au power adapter or converter to be able to charge it

          • @BobbySandals: Do you have a link to the one that includes a Cygnett charger?

None of the ones I'm seeing make any mention of it.

            • @HomeAlone: @HomeAlone it won’t explicitly mention you get a “cygnett charger” if you go to the “in the box tab” it mentions you get a 45w au/nz power adapter. This is the one I bought. Some people have mentioned just getting a converter adaptor for the American Plug to allow to be used in au

              https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/valve-steam-deck-handheld-porta…

then shortly after the steam deck was dispatched I got a email saying that they were out of stock of the 45w cygnett charger and that’s on back order to be dispatched in mid February

              • @BobbySandals: The people that got the cygnett charger, do you also get the original USA steam deck charger with it as well?

                • @videoman: @videoman can confirm. I just received my 256gb model from post office comes with the usa power adapter, at the time I ordered Kogan were out of stock of the cygnett so I just bought a 45w adapter from work. They did notify me they were out of stock and would be sending me the charger separately when the stock comes back in and also gave me 20$ credit for the hassle

                  • @BobbySandals: I also was notified that the cynett charger was out of stock and would be shipped to me later but no $20 credit. Did you contact support to get the credit?

                    • @redturtle: @redturtle no, it was in the email I got saying out of stock it was just a redemption code.

  • Ordered 64gb model thru Kogan / Heybattery. Dispatched 17th thru Aramex 1-5 business days. No tracking details yet though, but I'm sure there will be when I check again in 5 mins :')

Also ordered 512gb Sabrent Rocket thru amazon which is expected early feb and 512gb Sandisk Extreme from amazon (same price as officeworks 256gb model heh). Guess I just need a case now?

    • Has yours arrive from Heybattery yet?

      • Nah but I submitted a enquiry and they came back saying upto 8-12 business days from dispatch which I'm disappointed with. Not sure whether to take it up with Kogan as false advertising or what to do with it.

        • I have a similar reply from them with 8-12 business days. I assume the Chinese new year may have slightly delayed it.

          • @narumivtl: Yeah it's a pity, was hoping the stock was already in Australia.
Also they say to "save the environment" sometimes they use the packaging as the boxes. Sure as hell hope they don't do it for the steam deck otherwise it's prime stealing time for posties….

  • My 64gb from kogan direct arrived today with the cygnett charger. Just checked and it's got the delta fan. Disappointed. Will be ordering the Huaying fan

    • Just checked and it's got the delta fan. Disappointed. Will be ordering the Huaying fan

How do you check ..and whats the difference?

      my 256 delivered today.

    • I got the Huaying fan on the 256gb from Vchain

  • Have been watching the 64GB Steam Deck since it sold out from this deal. Just today, it came back on Preorder (dispatch 3 Feb) direct from Kogan / Dick Smith. Hopefully this means it comes with the Cygnett charger others have reported, rather than a dinky adapter the marketplace sellers have been including.

Now, does anyone have a recommendation on when to cancel Kogan First trial: Straight away, or wait until closer to ship date?

    • +1

Wait until it ships, use the reward credit on something else then cancel.

  • how is three sons in kogan? they have 64gb for $803
