No Mac Mini, Mac Studio or Mac Pro in the promotion.
It’s for the iMac, Laptops and iPads.

I would go the extra $180 for the APP2.

  • Expect some upsized cashbacks.

    • Hopefully! Waiting for this as well.

    • +3

Remember there's usually 2. Higher % with a lower cap and then lower % uncapped after

      • Ok thanks. I tried looking for the cashback history using search, but couldn't find much.

    • -1

Last year they also had gift card bonus too IIRC. Cashback + gift card bonus + airpods

    • anyone know when cashrewards will upside their apple cashback this year ?

  • Can we use Apple Gift cards to buy Apple devices?

    • +1

      You should be able to.

    • yes you can. Purchased an iPhone with gift cards from Woolworths.

  • +2

Bought an M1 Pro off Amazon a few days ago. Spewing!

    • +11

Note to future self, this happens every year

      • +5

i'll put it in my calendar… although i can't see myself replacing this thing in 12 months time. i love it

        • +2

Amazing machine for sure, good decision

    • But you would have got it discounted anyway from Amazon.
      No discounts direct from apple.

Apart from these types with AirPods or gift card

    • Ask if u can return it (if you’re inclined)

  • only for students? only at Apple stores?

  • +2

Is this available at the AOC stores?

    Doesn't appear to be ? https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447/store

    • No

    • It can be, you just need to call up and get them to add it.

    • What’s the difference between Aoc store and the shop for education store?

      • bit cheaper i believe

        • +1

Depends on the category. In Macs AOC is about ~4% cheaper than edu store. iPad is less than that.

  • Best place to buy Apple Gift Card?

    • +3

Last few weeks at Coles/Woolies with 10% bonus points.

  • Why doesn’t this work with AOC?

    • Back to Uni is mainly for students and AOC store is mainly for staff. Maybe I'm wrong.

      • +3

University of South Australia has its own AOC store, and their website says:

The goal of the agreement is to provide UniSA students with access to a full range of Apple products at great prices.

    • -1

Apparently it will be and if you call up they can add this deal to AOC pricing. They'll need proof though.

      • Proof of? So call up and they can add AirPods deal to AOC price?

        • -1

          They did for me

          • @Loracks: Share a screenshot of your invoice or confirmation please.

      • Where exactly did you get this information from?

I called up just now after seeing all the AirPods options greyed out on the UNIMELB AOC (EPP) portal.
I spoke to two different pre-sales support agents from Apple's Sydney office.

This promotion is ineligible with AOC portals.

They won't even consider your proof of student eligibility.

        • Thanks for clarifying. So impossible to get AirPods unless you go with regular education store. Better to go with AOC and save like an extra $300 on the price

          • @evasive: what are you buying , I wouldn't think the price difference would be that much

        • Although @Loracks just said he got it done… no idea how.

        • -2

Have you actually tried calling? I was told that it's not live yet on customer facing site but they could add it.

          Edit:
I'll double check the pricing when i get home. I'm hoping i wasn't just finessed by the salesperson.

          • @Loracks: Curious: Did it actually work for you?

            • @thewongdoctor: I actually don't think it did. She told me one thing but did another.
I ended up buying the refurb M1 instead as I've already got 'airpods'. Also ran into issues with using Apple credit in store and a salesperson there told me it was only good for apps anyway. Luckily that wasn't true.

But I also think it's coming to AOC based on two salespeople saying ' yet'

Can someone clarify the AOC store please? I googled hard this morning and think I signed up to newsletters from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

      • +3

AOC in this context is Apple On Campus.

It is a special type of Apple Education Store where eligible people can access (slightly) bigger discounts than ones offered through the regular Apple Education Store.

My understanding is that for an organisation to offer access to an AOC Education Store to its members, it needs to enter into a separate agreement with Apple, and I suspect this comes at an additonal cost to the organisation.

University of South Australia and the Australian Education Union are two examples of organisations that offer access to an AOC Education Store to its members.

    • For iPads, it seems you will likely save < $5 overall in AOC, sans AirPods, compared to normal edu store. For example, iPad Pro 11 128G w/ Cellular + Keyboard folio costs $1817.99 in AOC vs $1818 in edu store. And you don't get free AirPods in AOC.

I know the difference won't be huge but not this little haha

  • Damn no Mac mini in the offer. Waited 2 months for this. Not sure what to get as a desktop device now.

    • M1 Mac mini may see a decrease in price at other retailers. JB had Macs on sale and you can stack gift cards to get another ~9% off. Ought to be cheaper than AOC or edu store.

    • If you can, better hold off for just a bit longer. The m2 Mac mini is bound to be around the corner, rumours point to a spring release. I know you can use this argument ad infinitum but given the last one was 2 years ago, surely a new one is on the horizon…

      • +5

Isn't the M2 mac mini already out

        • Damn, missed the news this morning. Think I’ll bite from the AOC store, thanks guys

      • +2

        M2 mini is already available

  • -1

Dang. Just bought a MacBook Pro and an iPad… I can hear the gods of timing laughing…

    • +14

It happens at the same time every year… more like the gods of no research

      • +1

although tbf, they were about 2 weeks late this year!

    • If it’s within 30 days you can return it for full refund and buy it again to get the current offer

      • I do believe extended returns apply too, so they could have until end of 31 Jan!

  • +7

Buy a Mac or an eligible Ipad for Uni

No thanks. Why would i buy this for Uni. I will buy it for myself. 😁😁

    • You read it wrong: you buy a Mac or iPad (or both, if you like) for u n I. Just PM for my address when you’re ready

  • Is this promotion only if you bought it at an apple store? I just purchased a Macbook Pro from Amazon

    • +1

      yeah, apple only

    • Yes, only at apple stores.

  • can anyone tell me, how is the airpod? is that working with android phone? i am only after noise cancelling function..

    • Yea I've been using airpod pros with android for 2 years, they work well. Only downside is you can't see battery life, and you might need an iPhone to change the noise cancel and control settings. You can borrow a friend's iPhone to do this, it only takes 2mins.

I used other airpods with an iPhone before that, no big difference to switch to android

      • thanks, i see, don't use iphone, so it would be awkward to borrow iPhone to adjust settings …,for the noise canncelling, do it come with background electric buzz sound? not sure how i can describe it

        • My airpods pro 1st gen does have a bit of a static noise in noise cancelling, but its only really noticeable in quiet environments. Not too sure about the 2nd gen

        • For me, gen 2 pro have no static on anc.

        • I don't think it does, or I haven't noticed anyway. Much less than crappier NC I've tried, and very close to Bose.
Anyway the really good thing is the transparency mode, which is very comfortable in quieter areas. And then when it gets noisy, press them to turn on the noise cancelling.

They're great, and the new gen2 is even better

I love that my little "Earn Qantas points with this transaction" reminder pops up when I visit the page when I'm still waiting for points to hit my account from 10 & 8 months ago. Time to uninstall the extension methinks as points never hit and who you gonna call, Ghostbusters? Mr Evens dont care!

    • Sometimes you have to fill out the missing points form but I’ve noticed that certain stores will deny the points for no reason and Qantas won’t do anything about it.

I’ve never had an issue with Apple purchases though and the points always arrive on time.

  • -1

    excellent promotion

Is it actually excellent? Apple AOC pricing is usually quite significantly cheaper than regular education pricing and Airpods through the Apple store are almost always significantly more expensive than through other retailers (e.g. Amazon)

  • Got an iPad Pro 512G + APP and will pick them up today from the store. I forgot to use ShopBack.

  • Can a parent of a primary school child buy this using their ID

    • +2

In theory, this promotion is only available from the Apple higher education store for back-to 'uni' promotion which is not available to primary school and high school students. But, if you just want to be delivered to your home address, or the pick-up store staff is in a very good mood, then it is fine in most cases.

      • Thank you

        • +3

I just picked up my order from Chatswood Chase. The staff only check the driver's license, no student ID is required.

  • +2

Do you need to be a Uni student. Can I say I am preparing for my son’s uni days coming in15 years. The education store doesn’t seem to have user authentication.

  • Damn! I ordered a iPad Air 5 from education store which still isn’t delivered. Can I get a refund and reorder ?
I have also put in a engraving! Feeling crap but I think there is a option to get a refund and reorder ! Can anyone advise .

    • Not when engraved I doubt.

    • +1

Engraved item can only be returned online.

      • I have been doing some reading and I think I can return it . Just can’t exchange it like the other ones. I need to arrange a return once it arrives.

        • +1

Purchase another one and return the un-engraved one?

          .

          • @w1nthrophy: He cannot as the device serial number is recorded and linked to each order.

    • +1

I purchased an iPad air for my mum just 2 days out from last year's promo starting. I went to my local apple store and they "refunded" me, and allowed me to "repurchase" my same device and got a free pair of airpods along with it.

I recall seeing similar messages on last year's post

      • Thanks for your reply. I am worried because I have engraved my piece and it has still not been delivered. I see it’s coming from China. Wondering if it will impact my ability to return on time

        • +1

Worth trying to call Apple. They never let me down.

          • +2

@Freeskater: Hey! i was able to call and get the free airpods added. Apple is amazing to be honest.
            Thanks for the information.

        • +1

Don't return, just call Apple and they can manually add the AirPods to your invoice and send them out.

          • +1

@luztra: Hey! i was able to call and get the free airpods added. Apple is amazing to be honest.
            Thanks for the information.

  • Interesting. Looks like I cannot redeem from a specific university link (in this case UNSW) - all the airpods options are greyed out.
Perhaps it is the slightly higher priced generic education store that has this offer only…
Interested to hear if other university links also have this issue.

    • Did you work this out?

    • other comments say they called up to add airpods with aoc pricing.. however idk if it’s true or not

      • @lc0 I couldn’t find people saying they bought from AOC then called Apple to add AirPods, can you confirm or have I misunderstood something?
