  • Website shows as in stock at Ashmore on the Golf Coast if anyone is near there.

I can't see any instock in Brisbane.

    • showing stock at Ashmore but none available when I went there around 7.30

  • Worth noting that this phone doesn't have NFC (it's still a steal at $12 obviously).

    • $19.
      The Model is A12.

      • Yeah well… shit! Can't edit my comment now :)

    • +1

Just tape your card to the back of the phone at this price!

      • +1

It's also the most secure 'NFC mode' on a phone ;-)

  • +6

Carindale Brisbane shows in stock. Arrived at counter and she asked immediately if I was after the A12, said its out of stock, and 'a million people asking'

    • Bugger, was just about to ring, thanks

      • +1

Apparently most calls she's ever had for an item. Thinks it's a Web glitch

        • +3

That's the most calls she's ever had in her life

      • Have you tried garden city and indooropilly ?

    • +1

      Thanks saved me the trip.

      • Same

  • +6

    Stock levels all misleading

    • +3

Agree - went to two stores which showed stock online, both out of stock in store. No evidence of anyone else actually getting a phone except the original poster.

      • There was one phone at Mawson, ACT, but they sold it about half an hour before I got there.

    • +2

Ikr, I mean it literally says stock levels may be up to two hours old

      :p

      • They are also inaccurate.

    • There updated every 2 hours, I suspect stock was cleared almost immediately after deal was posted..

      • +2

I suspect stock was cleared almost immediately after deal was posted

That's not correct. Stock never existed. The online website is saying stores still have stock now (10 hours later) however in store there is no stock.

        • stand corrected, sounds like there was only 4 in the whole country then.

        • -1

With Woolies, there is no real way of confirming on Stock Levels of such items on Clearance. It may not be necessarily true that it is out of stock everywhere. It might be available in a few stores, but there's no real way of telling it.

It all depends on the luck of few people like OP, who stumbled upon the deal and was at a store that actually had stock. I might give this a try, and check a couple of stores, although I am not really hopeful.

  • No stock at Ashwood. Stock levels on app are misleading. Staff told me most nearby stores show only 1 in stock and have not been updated.

  • +3

All Woolies outlets should be provided with a method/code that enables them to correct their erroneous 'in stock' status via the Woolies intranet/internal systems. It would save us a lot of trouble, and their staff too.

    • +4

A blockchain like system with the nodes being OzBargainers who update once they check in-store.

  • 2 Cairns stores showed in stock, but i popped down and confirmed no stock in either.

    Thanks for sharing anyway!

  • A baby for a baby :3

  • +4

Checked Gosford, no stock despite showing stock online. I am suspicious, staff keeping them aside for their mates.

  • +1

I saw a staff keeping two aside behind the counter. Is this even allowed?

    • +2

How is it going to be possibly policed/monitored?
"We're holding them for a customer until the end of the day" and then "Oh, customer didn't pick them up what a shame!"

Then again with how shit retail is, it's quite a small win in the grand scheme.

      • +1

"We're holding them for a customer until the end of the day"

I'd expect the store policy wouldn't allow for that. There's nothing for the shop to gain and they risk a potential loss in sales. First come best dressed is simple and effective.

        • Have had items held for me before, not sure if it's policy but it's good (and relatively standard) customer service especially at this price they know they'll sell.

Quite frankly I think Woolies could do with some good reputation atm considering the price increases being observed and shared around. Not a smart move to end their price freeze a month before Coles as it puts Coles in a much better light when they'll likely become the same in the next month.

          • @pennypincher98: At Coles (so WW would be the same)… I saw their own brand 2L ice-cream has doubled from $2 to $4. Disgusting. Same thing with the 4L. They order THOUSANDS of items, but dozens to hundreds of them in each box, on ONE truck and ONE delivery. So they can't seriously expect us to believe a fuel increase from what was it before… $1.40/L? to $1.90 justifies a 100% increase. Because they do bring thousands of items on every truck, the extra cost is obviously spread across thousands of items, making it cents more per item, not dollars. $1.40 to $1.90 fuel = a 35.7% increase. So that ice-cream should be $2.60, not $4, and that's only if it was the only item on the truck! Bring 200 of them, plus the hundreds in each box of thousands of other products, and we're back to only a few cents increase per item. Even if we say, "But the dairy guy has to pay more for feed to be delivered, the ice-cream factory has to pay more for other ingredients, and then WW/Coles too… it still should be cents after spreading it across each item.

I was at WW on Tuesday. ALL their fruit & veg (as has been the case for ages) was more expensive than Coles. Oh except strawberries which were 10 cents cheaper, unless you bought 3x trays, then Coles became cheaper on those too. WW soft drinks are mostly $2 for a 1.2L while Coles regularly puts the same ones on sale for $1 to $1.30 every 2-3 weeks. I think it was rockmelons that I saw at WW for $8! Tiny, soft, and rotting! Mind you, Coles isn't great. They're back to selling baseball sized cauliflowers that are half leaves and broccoli for about $6 each I think it was. Oh and why is WW freezer section empty of vegetables most times I go there, but Coles is only missing a few things!? Seriously… 30m of freezers empty most days of the week.

    Officeworks price beat possible?

    • Nope. Clearance stock. Officeworks don’t price match clearance. says on the officeworks T&C website about it

  • So has anybody aside from the Duke found one? 5000 clicks as I speak.
No luck here, so my kid still has his broken screen. Will teach him to be more careful :)

  • +3

It’s been this price for a few weeks now and there are none in stock in VIC

  • Moorooka Qld out of stock unfortunately

    • Did you go to the store and check? The website was showing in-stock, but I know it is not reliable.

      • +1

Yes went and checked in store

    • +1

Another fellow moorooka Woolies shopper! More of you guys need to wear the ozb shirt in-store so I can spot you

  • Just checked a store in regional NSW that showed "stock" online but no dice.

  • +1

    Congratulations

  • +1

Congratulations to those who got one.

  • Congrats. I expect your kid to look like this:

Morwell. ✅️ One day old baby. ✅️✅️ This checks out.

Zero stock anywhere. How on earth is this a deal in anyway who knows. Should be closed as insufficient quality. Having read the comments, it looks like nobody has scored one. I just popped into a store that says it has been stock, and the staff said there was none to begin with. Like, wtf?

    • I share your sentiment. But yes, these do qualify as deals. There were quite a few people who got their hands on previous deals:

As for this current deal on the A12, you're right, dont see anyone except OP who has grabbed any.

      • +1

So what qualifies as a deal? And what are the rules for insufficient quality or unobtainable? Plenty of people here ended up making unnecessary and pointless trips to the store.
Guess we are all partially to blame for falling for it.
The promotion is probably in its end state right now, and thus, there's is pretty much none left in stock.

        • +1

Plenty of people here ended up making unnecessary and pointless trips to the store.

If only they had a $19 Samsung A19 with bonus $30 optus credit, they could have called the store to confirm stock 😔

          • +1

@OZKap: When I went in, the staff were smiling whilst saying none were available. Makes me believe they've kept some for themselves. Unfortunately, whether you called or ended up in the store, the outcome would have been the same.
Regardless, since nobody obtained one except OP, this is 100% NOT a deal.
If I say that I've found a PS5 on sale for $50 and there's only 1 left, which I grabbed for myself, would you call that a deal noting rest of the community cannot access it due to insufficient quantity?
Kudos to this dude for being able to grab not one but four!
Anyway, I'm happy for the dude and his new baby. Rant over. Moving on 😴

      • +1

I scored two of those deals! Still have the Huawei, as a burner, but it's running slow now. Sold the RealMe after unlocking it. I love a cheap phone deal!

      • And potentially the thousands of leeches who lurk here but never post or comment

  • Went into two local stores that had stock listed online. Nothing. Site says takes two hours to update… and someone got in before me/or stock being held by employee to buy when store is closed.

  • +1

So basically, Woolworths has done an Officeworks.

We've seen so many posts here for Officeworks bargains that were unobtainable, as their system keeps dropping prices until all sold. Except the stock in the computer can't be sold because it does not actually exist.

  • +1

I've spent ages looking for phones from past deals similar to this at woolies. It's just right place, right time, and not much of a deal for the rest of us

  • What a bargain!!!,

buy one human and get a second one free

  • Congrats

  • Best present.. Congratulations.

  • +8

If youre popping out again, remember to drop past a newsagency and pick up yesterday's newspaper if you can - keepsake from the day the kid was born.

    • +1

Great Idea and the price of a Big Mac Meal to see how inflation goes over the years ahead :-)

    • +2

That actually is really cool, I might duck into a newsagent and see if they have one tomorrow. Good looking out!

      • +2

Frame it with the receipt of the 4 A12's and a screenshot of this deal with some comments wishing the kid an awesome life!

  • +1

No stock at Casey Central (VIC) - Site shows stock. Also shows stock at Dandenong South but I don't trust the stock checker now lol

  • +1

Congrats on the baby, hope mum and bub are both doing well.

  • -4

Congrats on that one semen you decided to keep as a pet!

  • +1

Grabbing last 4, sounds like it was toilet paper

  • +3

No deal if insufficient stock, I have been sh1tcanned for this before and my deal had more then 1 item.

  • Hands are full, partner literally had a baby last night

Well that's good… there's too many people figuratively having babies nowadays.

  • No stock anywhere in Vic, not sure how this is a valid bargain

  • No stock anywhere in Tassie

    • Online says there is stock at Kings Meadows but I haven't gone there to check in person.

  • Tried this morning on a store showing stock. No dice (or A12s!). Looks like OP was lucky.

  • Gonna hunt at a few stores, but deal already says OOS. Should I try or not bother?
The Woolies Yellow sticker says 18/01 – 14/02. So they were planning on running the promotion for 4 weeks :P

    • At $19 for a $250 Mobile, maybe Staff are buying these and re-selling them on eBay / Gumtree …

  • With such deals like this one, great chances staff will score on it before anyone else.

By the by congrats op for scoring on both ends

  • Someone in SA lucky enough to get one by looks of it.
Elizabeth was showing up as in stock yesterday but not today.

    • +2

Can't really rely on those stock levels. It may have not been there even when it showed in-stock. It may have been sold off before the markdown/clearance.

      • That too they might've bothered to update the stock level.

  • Sold out in Dickson, ACT. Before I left the house, the Woolworth's website said stock was available only in Dickson. I was too late this morning at 830am as staff told me all stock was gone.

  • I wouldn't trust the store stock checker online at all. It was showing as in stock at the Northside Plaza store here in Rockhampton QLD. But i went to the store early this morning and i was told no stock at all. Even though it was showing online in green as in stock right before i went to the counter to ask for it. But no actual stock in store. It's a load of bull.

Just don't trust Woolworths store stock checker. It will lie to you.
