Available at Amazon with free shipping for $849 if JB Hi-fi or Officeworks aren't an option

  • Anyone know if OW will do a price match and let you order click and collect online, similar to the way JB does? Or will I have to go in store.

    • In store from place i spoke to this morning. hence i went with JB as had AX points to use via PP and couldn't do it with OW with price match :/

    • price match over the phone only takes 5 min

    64gb is criminal.

    • +7

Yeah, I could understand it when iPad's started at $4-500, but its a joke at this price point and even more insulting that they charge $250 for an extra 192GB storage.

  • +6

Its 2023 and they still get away with selling 64GB tablets.

    • +2

Its to force people to pay more to get 256GB.

If there was a 128GB it would cannibalise sales of 256GB.

      • not defending it. but if the were a 128gb and next 512gb then it will be same argument. always the same.

and you will get the people: why are they forcing me to buy 128gb if i use less than 64gb

        • I wasn't defending it either. Just stating facts.

        • +1

Only because Apple will strategically wait until 128GB isn't quite enough to be comfortable for most people that use an iPad regularly before they make that the base size.

I have enough iOS devices I can see the storage usage on that i know 128GB would be plenty for an iPad or iPad Air right now, but 64GB would be juggling things.

          • +2

@Arsenal: And that is how they get you to go up to the next size which conveniently for apple is 256GB.

            • +2

@xoom: Sure, and as i said above, it's insulting they charge $250 for an extra 192GB.

              • @Arsenal: I agree.

              • +1

@Arsenal: It's always been the Apple way.. underspec the storage, RAM, whatever and then overcharge like hell the next model and make them non upgradeable.

64GB is a joke in 2023.. I can't even remember the last time I purchased something with such limited storage it would've been so long ago..

    • Some people really don't want a large storage. They literally use it for streaming movies and browse the web.

      • +1

And thats fine. But dont charge like a wounded bull for storage upgrade.

ipad pro m1 for 947 was much better, also 128gb

  • Got the gen 4 for this price and feel like i was ripped. Less ram and weak chip.

  • Is it worth it over the $750 Gen10 iPad?

    • M1 chip? Probably yes.

    • Absolutely. Fully laminated display vs non laminated, A14X (M1) vs A14 and 8GB RAM vs 4GB.

      No brainer.

just pick one up at OW with price beat for $806. Thank you Ozbarginers always coming thru with solid deals. now if only we can get sub $1000 RTX3080s or 4070 Ti :)

was looking at getting an upgrade from an old iPad air 2 and wanted something with the m1.
I mostly use my tablet for light gaming like digital trading card games, media consumption and browsing so 64gb is fine and the M1 chip should do wonders for long-term performance.
Also nice to have options for procreate and apple pencil support if I choose.
since I mostly use my PC for anything heavier this is just a nice chill device for bed or couch time and for trips.

I also picked up one of Samsungs 128gb small usb-c flash drives about 3cm long from amazon should be good for offloading photos or other projects to avoid filling up the 64gb with photos and the like.

  • Officeworks has dropped their prices - price match there is no longer available

    • They caught on. They do that when they getting pricebeaten a few times.
