  • can't tell if it's a special or is their regular price

    looks like a good pickup,
dnon't know about the quality of Hitachi drives though

This is the special price that I receive from their newsletter just now. Their usual price is $120~$130 shipped. From my observations, if a 1 TB 2.5" external hhd reaches $100, it will be a good buy regardless the brands. I rarely see any genuine offer that sells way below $100 mark.

    • Interesting to note that Western Digital acquired Hitachi in March; not sure if that would have affected the product line yet.

I bought 4x1MB EDO RAM for $250 in 1990. But like your post, why is that relevant to anything?

DSE is also selling the Seagate portable 1.5TB USB 3.0 drives for $149 (+ shipping but can collect), so that's $0.09/GB (very slightly cheaper).

"Set-up is straightforward, simply connect a single USB cable and you are ready to go. The drive is powered from the USB cable, so there is no need for an external power supply"

        "portable"

      • -2

why is this negged, the dse one is likeley 3-4 times the size of this portable one and needs its own power cord to run it, the portable runs off the computers power. get a clue before you just spam neg for the sake of it

Make sure you mention you need to select bank transfer, because the other options (credit card, paypal) will incur a 2% extra charge

    • I think you just did. Needed? Not really.

Been waiting for a 1TB/3.0/portable hard drive to hit $100, thanks OP.

  • You can buy a Seagate 1.5TB for 128.10 USD delivered from Amazon or 1TB for 97.72 USD delivered. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75092

megabuy = dodgy grey importer? Don't they have 3 trading names and all are grey?

    • One of their names is Negabuy.

      • NeverBUY?

      • Hi guys,

We dont sell grey hard drives, these are from an Australian distributor.

everything we sell is sourced from Australian distributors.

Desktop Hard Drive = power adapter required. Meaning: no comparison. Again, people get confused with it all the time.

It's not really special consider the "new"(thunder bolt) tech will be out in couple months. The Mac users have been enjoy this tech for at least 1year.
