How can the current high prices of GPUs be justified when a package is sold at this price?
e.g. the price of a 3070 GPU on its own (even from BPC website) is still $839.
The rest of the components and assembly is therefore $460.
    wtf?

    • Welcome to the world of PC's these days..
The GPU often makes up 2/3 of the build budget… sucks I know

    • +7

Essentially a duopoly that isn't really competing in a meaningful way. They're both just happy matching each other's $/flop and calling it a day.

Intel has shown an interest in challenging this with their well priced cards…but if it's genuine, or if they keep going, is yet to be seen.

    • +8

because AMD is also as bad as Nvidia in terms of pricing and also doesnt provide much competition

maybe people will finally stop worshipping AMD

      • +3

Brave, but thank you for calling this out.

With some of the comments here in this site, you'd think AMD is running a charity.

    • I don't get how they make money off this. Even if it is built so you buy the upgrades, if the majority of people don't, won't you be making a loss?

    • +5

This is just speculation, but I imagine it helps them get rid of stock, like entry level M-ATX motherboards or generic tier cases, that isn't selling and taking up space in their warehouse (unused inventory can be a huge cost to a business).

    • -1

Yeah its suspect, it really makes you think what the retailers are actually getting stock for, we know they are making profit so the markup would have to be somewhat substantial, if they buy in bulk big enough they could justify selling a package this cheap because they got the GPU fairly cheap.
The other $460 Seems cheap, but its more like 600-700 and the GPU they got much much cheaper. They aren't paying for what its listed as on their site, ill tell you that much.
The assembly they have to be making on too otherwise how else would they stay in business. T
hey would be getting the parts dirt cheap.
      Guaranteed

      • -1

        Agree with all you say.
$460 for the rest was a tongue in cheek comment.
I'm really tired of the GPU prices staying so high.

    • It is giving me hope that the actual price of this gpu should be somewhat less than $839, and there is some oversupply and price control of GPUs behind the scenes, and maybe this is a sign lower gpu prices coming.

  • If this deal got posted one week earlier, I will definitely buy one. But I already ordered the 5600 deal

    • +2

      :) Just enjoy my friend!

  • -5

    @wetwork
Their prices on parts dont represent cost price, and just like with techfast their business model is to make profits with "upgardes", hance the reason why they offer those gfx cards with bottom of the barrel parts like the mobo and ram, storage etc. I mean I would be concerned plugging anything into that mobo.

    • +5

I would be concerned plugging anything into that mobo.

      Why?

ASUS are a reputable brand, and this seems to be one of the better H610 Mobos on the market for budget LGA1700 support.

[edit] And they are offering 2 years warranty!

    • +2

Whys that? Asus is a decent brand, so would trust its not just badly made, seems to have a decent number of power phases, and a reasonable selection of ports and options - with the exception being only 2 ram slots.

    • +3

Asus are my preferred brand of MB in the current generations.

Not sure why you think they're so bad??

      • +6

        @nitens @incipient @iDroid

Boys, I never said Asus is a bad brand, or that it will instantly break lol far from it! That mobo is the cheapest they offer and the parts they use to build it reflect the price. From the quality of the naked vram and power phases to limited number of features. From extensive personal experience and experience of friends there's 2 things I would not cheap out on, that is a mobo and power supply. Again as in previews post, this is my own personal opinion.

        • +2

          Fair call, and solid reasoning.

        • +8

Cool… I'm just not sure I'd be "concerned" by plugging anything into that board.

If you know it's limitations, and expected lifespan I don't think you'd go far wrong with this board. Personally I wouldn't cheap out on a board either, but ASUS PRIME series tend to be good budget options.

You are entirely entitled to an opinion - I'm just mildly concerned about the validity of it as you seem to think there's VRAM on a mobo. And looking at the images the VRM is definitely covered by a heatsink. Perhaps you were looking at one of the other H610M ASUS boards and not the -A? BPC even show the VRM heatsink in their product image.

Out of curiosity, what was the outcome of your experience of failed mobos? For me it's only ever been get a new mobo, and the failed mobos haven't ever taken a single other component out with it. Wish I could say the same for failed power supplies.

            • +1

@ab c: Sorry mate… I don't have any experience. But most of the time your situation will depend on keeping the air moving through the system, and solid cooling on the CPU and GPU. I would consider the CPU cooler upgrade offered in the package or upgrade this yourself with something else. Try checking google reviews of ASUS PRIME H610M-A D4. Some sites rate it highly when compared to other H610 boards.

    • i would be more concerned if people genuinely believes you

  • Dam would love a price option to upgrade to a 3080..

    • +1

I think this is priced specifically to get you to upgrade to the 3080… but it won't be at this price.

  • Is it possible to remove the SSD or change it to 500GB

We can manage that for you :)

@BPC Technology any updates on an ITX build?

For those interested, BPC got back to me with this: https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/kp-nvstudio-el1-nvidia-ge…

    • Out of curiosity what set you those specs? I need to be make a decision on intel or AMD. Intel means no cpu upgrade path which is harsher due to mobo prices and AMDs new line is apparently a compatibility headache like first yearr of zen.

Cheers for any input, I grabbed the gpu last year so im just wasting its value at the moment.

      • +1

Intel because I prefer having TB port, I'm more familiar with the architecture. GPU is your preference. I like Nvidia's software better + I think I've seen it to be more on sale lately compared to AMD high end GPUs.

Are you building an ITX beast as well?

        • My last AMD machine was a phenom II so Intel is definitely the more familiar for me as well so I'll probably go that way and aim to keep the motherboard and cpu for 2+ years.

My building kind of got interrupted by family health issues at the end of last year but the form factor is one of the less important things for where it's going. If I find an ITX case with good air flow (I'm not dealing with water blocks) It would be nice but not super important.

      Hi ab c,

      For your questions:

Any limited features/hardware (& older technology)
The motherboard comes with 2 USB 3.2 type A and 2 USB 2.0 type A ports, as an entry-level motherboard the major limitation is the lack of USB-C port and WIFI.

PCIe 4.0 for BOTH GPU & CPU ?
Yes the GPU and one of the M.2 connectors can share the Pcie 4 X 16 slot

VRM & heatsink good enough for 30°C ambient temp. with long play?
Both CPU & GPU consume less power than the other model which less heating and the case comes with 3 front fans.

      Only 2 DIMM slots & 3200mhz limit, right ?
Yes, the motherboard comes with 2 X DIMM ram slots, and we recommend running at 3200mhz speed. But you can certainly try oc as it's not locked.

      RX 6700XT 12Gb
Unfortunately we don't have the model in stock for the moment.

      R5 5600
If you swap the CPU you have to change the motherboard as well so we can't support it.

      WHITE-case with similar cooling
Yes we can help upgrade (with upgrade cost), just let us know the model you looking for (must in stock at our store)

      Sincerely,
      BPC Team

  • How does this compare to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/755989 deal?

Not sure which one to choose. Is the 3070ti deal better for the extra $130?

    HALP SOMEONE

    • The increase in price for the 3070ti is justifiable but that deal has a lower efficiency 80+ bronze lower wattage PSU and a smaller 500gb M.2 ssd compared to this ones 700W 80+gold and 1tb ssd. So I'd go with this 3070 for the value proposition and better components (except for the graphics card)

    • +1

Whoa, dude! Did you just bring a thesis level critical analysis to ozbargain?!!

      • -5

Yeah the guy is way overthinking a $1299 PC that he plans to game at 1080 🤣

That's why I'm glad I got out of retail

  • Any PC deals for GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, would like a build same specs as https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756815 if price can go down?

  • This or Enigma https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756618

Based on votes, the other looks better but asking because I'm a complete noob..

    • +1

12400f vs 5600 very similar performance, may be 12400f tiny faster
      3070 vs 3060, 3070 better
Intel platform, may upgrade to 13th gen. AMD 5800x3D probably the best you can get. So Intel platform may have better upgrades options in future.

I probably will pick this one, mostly because better GPU.

  • @BPC Tech

Any good CPU cooler for i7 13700?

  • Another noob question as buying for son. The lights can be changed to RGB right? (Not permanently green)

    • +1

It's an ARGB case and yes, the color can be changed

  • +1

Just beware that lead time + shipping will take more than 2 weeks. I bought a BPC system 7 days ago and only yesterday got an email that the parts for the system have been reserved, not built into the system, just reserved.

    • @bpc is this a correct estimate of delivery ?
(I messaged BPC through facebook asking a rough delivery time for this deal 3 days ago and have had no reply, which does not inspire confidence)

      • +1

        Hi Daggs,

The current wait time for Gaming PC orders to be processed is around 9-13 working days.

With our priority handling service, the wait time can be shortened to 5-7 working days.

        Regards,
        BPC Team

        • I paid the $50 bribe (priority handling).

Ordered on the 3rd (friday so didn't expect anything to happen that day). Monday the 6th got the email that parts were allocated. 7 days later now, no update … so the 5 to 7 day estimate from paying the extra looks to have come and gone.

Based on the email showing a process of "Parts Reserved >> Work In Progress >> QC Pass" should I receive an email when it hits "Work in Progress" ?

        • As a side note, it was a 3080 deal that i ordered, just in case you are looking at all of the 3070 orders trying to work out which one is mine :)

  • Seems pretty decent. I'm looking for a few modifications though :

    i7 12700KF CPU
CPU Cooler (Noctua NH-D15 if possible)
    64Gb ram (2 x 32Gb)
Case with room for a 5 1/4 drive

Could you assist with pricing for such changes please?

    • Hi TheSly,

      No problem!

Would you mind DM us your name & email so I can ask the team to send you the quote?

      Sincerely,
      BPC Team

  • Is this deal better than: Gaming PC: Ryzen 5 5500, RTX 3060Ti, AMD A320 Motherboard, 16GB 3200MHZ RAM, 480GB SSD, 750W PSU $888 + Delivery @Techfast ?

    • +1

Both are really good deals. It just comes down to which one you prefer. The Techfast one is a great starting point with less juice than the BPC one.

    • +1

This has better cpu, gpu and more ssd = faster gaming PC, the techfast one is slower but $400 cheaper. 3070 cost around $160 than 3060ti, 12400f cost around $100 more than 5500, ssd cost around $40 more in parts. Not sure others parts. I will say both looks decent deals, really depend your budget.

    • 5500 has too little cache and A320 only supports pcie3. Tech fast use very low quality parts too. I would say get this one, if u can afford it

  • Another great deal BPC!

Hopefully you guys can do a premium build with a low end GPU card. I'm sure a lot of us have a decent card on a dated build we'd like to swap over.
    Something like a:

    i7-13700K / Ryzen 7 7700x (Or higher)
    Z/X Motherboard
    RTX3060Ti (Or lower)
    32GB
    1TB NVMe M.2
    850W+ Gold PSU

Obviously this could be wishful thinking and understand you guys need to make $$$ first and foremost.

  • Hello :)

I am a super noob when it comes to gaming PCs but im looking to purchase one.
Just wanted to know if this will work for a variety of games and possibly a small amount of streaming ?
Will I need to purchase anything else to add to the PC to make it do what i need it to do? As a novice, i definitely just need something that is basically plug and play :)

    Thanks!

    • +1

I am new to PC as well. You might need to consider a few things below:
      1. WIFI/Bluetooth adaptor - You can choose the upgrade option but you better check with BPC if the WIFI option comes with bluetooth too. I am planning to install Asus PCE-AX3000 Wi-Fi Adapter which I bought separately for $55 ish.
      2. Window activation - again, choose the upgrade or bring your own activation key.
      3. Computer peripheral - mouse,monitor,keyboard, chair, desk.

    • This specs is more than enough for most games and streaming.

      • Thanks for your help :) Thats awesome

  • I was going to pull the trigger on this, but notice a $50 "Premium Dispatch Service Get Dispatched Fast and Safe" charge in the shopping cart.
Is that a permanent charge for this range of PC?

If yes, shouldn't that be factored into the overall price as in $1349?
