    Cheapest

    Nah :P

Should we change it to "far from cheapest"?

  • Much of a real difference compared to the previous model?

    • +4

      General consensus says no

    • One of the biggest difference is that the XM5 cannot be folded up and put into a smaller carrying case.

    • I've had both, would take the XM4 every time.

    • No, my XM3 are still going but wanted the latest.
Not a lot in it but happy with them (when you get them cheaper than this per above).

They are about 15% better but with those ergonomic differences. The new case isn't much bigger just flatter (but guess people throw the old ones in their bag loose).

The sound is more natural which is why I got them ($350 and sold the xm4 for $270). Most people that already have the xm4 wouldn't bother upgrading. People seem to hear me better on the xm5 too for calls.

PS. Not really a great deal - I got for $405 good guys, call em up..

    • For me in home office use the XM3 have much better noise cancelling.

      • Better than what, which ones have you tested?

Sub $400 should be target price of these imo. Totally not worth rrp $549.

  • any luck pricing matching this to Sony?

    • They refused because PC Byte isn’t an authorised reseller. They did offer to match Amazon at $496.80 though, not as good but I have AMEX’s $100 off $500 spend plus 8% cashback at Cashrewards at the moment (which may or may not get approved but worth a try).

      • I'm glad I saw your comment. I tried to match Amazon and the idiots said the price 496.80 (for black) did lnt reflect Amazon's current price. I was planning on doing that then getting $9 headphones to make the total just over $500 and claim the $100 Amex credit.
I ended up just paying the $548 at Sony, Amex will give me $100 back and cash rewards have already credited me $39. So effective price is about $410.
$370 would have been nice if they matched Amazon.

        • the idiots said the price 496.80 (for black) did lnt reflect Amazon's current price

Wonder what were they on about, I can see it still at that price with my own eyes …

I was lucky and managed to do what you mentioned to get the effective ~$370 price, but getting it down to $410 isn’t bad either - definitely beats paying RRP!

  • $405 Goodguys just ask

    • Fyi to everyone else. Good guys told me the absolute best they could do is $495 even when I said I'm getting it for $400.

      • Yep, me too. Good Guys concept of 'Price Beat' is a joke. At least JB were happy to match this on the spot.

        • I called the number and GG happily did it for $405 plus $10 delivery. At the time JB wouldn't budge at all.

Must depend on stock levels, got the 28d shopper's protection claim approved a while back for $350 so pretty happy with that.
