PNY GeForce RTX 4070 Ti XLR8 12GB Graphics Card $1299 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Umart / MSY / PCByte

540

Lowest 4070TI price as far as I understand if you're in the market for one. Pretty sure PNY is giving all these retailers some rebate to sell. It says the sale is only available for another few days. I'm HODLing my 2080 from Inno3d years ago still and doing fine.

more like the '7 News' GeForce RTX 4070 Ti

  • +43

    Still a ripoff

    • +34

Let it rot on the shelf.

  • +48

Nvidia trying to take you all for mugs, because they pull a RRP out of their arses does not mean it's worth it.

  • +4

Cool n' quiet 3090-3090ti for half the power, with DLSS3, frame gen, and drivers that just work.

Don't get carried away with the tech press pitchforks, these cards are beasts.

    • +37

Every new gen cards look like beasts compared to old gen, well atleast in most releases. Does not mean prices should double.

      • +7

With you there … It's not ok to expect a significant increase in price because they've made an advancement… NVIDIA and their share holders love anyone who thinks this way.

      • +1

Indeed. What's annoying is people believed $2500 3090 was reasonable (and $1000+ for a 1080/2080/3080 etc). This is exactly what they deserve.

Nvidia could charge 10k for all I care. 9800GTX had an msrp of $300. So why are people only complaining now? They are 10 years too late. Many people can't think for themselves and are parroting tech media when it comes to this sheep outrage over 4000 series prices.

        • +4

My read is that the '90 cards are supposed to be stupidly expensive because they're the halo product. The problem is that NVidia seems to be pricing their 80 series and 70 series on a linear price/performance curve and using the '90 series as a benchmark (eg if a card has 50% performance it has roughly 50% of the price), making all the cards they've released this generation terrible value. And AMD played right into the same thinking as well, choosing high margins over market share.

        • +2

          Same as houses going up.

          Just doing some checking.

          GTX1080 launch was $925.
          RTX 2080 was AU$1,199
          RTX 3080 was AU $1,139
          RTX 4070Ti…$1299ish….sure it's not the '80', but the specs aren't far off..no?

A GTX1080, in 2022 adjusted inflationary costs (excluding the real inflation we have now) equates to a '2022' price of somewhere in the range of $1,079.80 to $1,124, depending on the inflationary figures you use.

So there are increases absolutely. With supply costs and so on, it's up around 15-20% in 'real terms'. Is this reasonable, given literally everything has dramatically increased in pricing? IDK. Quite possibly.

But it's not this 50% increase everyone keeps making it out to be.

          Is this unreasonable?

          • +10

@thargelios: It's not this 50% increase like people are making out….as you literally change the tier and give a nonsense reason for doing to.

A 4080 starts at $1800 now, the launch RRP was $2219

The GTX 980 had 4GB RAM, 4 generations to double the RAM is pretty standard, the GTX 680 had 2GB of RAM.

My 1070 has 8GB of RAM, the 4070ti should definitely not be used in place of an 80 series card for your inflation trend.

            • @nmartin84: A 2080, was only marginally better than a 1080ti (at 4k).

              3080 was what 20-30% better than a 2080ti?

              A 4080 is what..20% better than a 3080ti..(and insanely overpriced).

Whereas a 4070ti, is 5-10% 'better' than a 3090, for a not excessively increased price (given the current climate of inflation, manufacturing cost increases and so on).

Go look at the gross and net profits Nvidia is actually making.

              Ie here: https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/NVDA/nvidia/profit…

They aren't making insane 'bank'. Their net margin is in line with historic peaks (despite the mining craze), although up on the last couple of years.

Imagine a company trying to actually maintain a decent level of profitability.

Am I happy prices have increased? Absolutely not. I paid $800 for a GTX 1080 and finding it hard to justify upgrading, although need a better 4k card.

But the disconnection so many people have with what prices 'should be' is crazy.

              • +3

@thargelios: Your 4070Ti to 3090 comparison is a bit skewed

These 90 / titan series cards are always grossly overpriced as they're just not selling on the merit of their price to performance

So yeah 4070 ti matches 3090

Just like how the 1080Ti matched titan cards of previous gen, and 3060 Ti almost matched 2080 Ti, and 1660Ti matched 980, with each of these cards priced much cheaper but much lower in the product stack

          • +3

@thargelios: Yes it is, because you’re ignoring that the ACTUAL 4080 costs significantly more, and the 4070 Ti has a significantly cut down GPU die compared to typical 70 class. If AMD had more competitive models, and Nvidia weren’t pricing them based on cryptomania, the gpu die would’ve likely been in a 4060/4060 Ti. They’re charging more and giving you less than previous generations, that’s ignoring the ridiculous limitations they’ve put on memory bandwidth for this generation too

    • +5

indeed good card , shame on the price thought

    • +10

your point is valid in everyway, except you missed the price part.

Technology advancement is meant to bring price down

      • Unfortunately, it's not the case, we need real competition to drive prices down.

        • -2

It does bring the price down. Lol
A card this powerful 5 years ago would cost infinite dollars because it didn't exist

    • +7

Didnt mention that it only has 12gb vram so its no good for new games at 4k without turning down settings

      • +2

Yep, It's more an enthusiast 1440p tier card in my books with how the performance drops off more at 4k due to bandwidth limitations.

        • No 4k with dlss no problems

      • -2

This card can drive all current games at 4k. With high frame rates. It's called dlss. And it looks fine

        • +5

Hogwarts legacy you have to drop textures down without RT as it requires 13gb of vram. Even worse with RT on. For a $1300+ priced card you should not have to compromise

          • @Casomme: You can easily play with dlss balanced and it looks fine

          • @Casomme: I'm playing Hogwarts with my kids on 4k. High settings . No RT. Dlss performance . Which looks good. Locked to 60fps

    • +5

It's not a 3090-3090ti. Those are halo products that only beat the 3080 12gb by a few % for a massive markup. The main reason people would buy them is the large GDDR memory, which this 4070ti doesn't have.

So you're saying it's great because it's slightly better price:perf than last gen's halo product. That's nuts.

I grabbed 1 of these last week, runs cool, quiet enough. Is a big card. But i may have a defective fan, haven't had the issue for a day or so now, few more days if the issue happens again will rma

    • Check your anti sag bracket. I was reasearching this card because I can't hodl for much longer and found a few comments about an issue with the PNY bracket design that can cause the middle fan to stop.

      • +1

I had a similar issue when using the bracket, I just removed it, the card doesnt seem to sag much at all even without it.

        • +2

Long term with no support is not a good idea, the card weighs 1.5kg. Board warping when installed horizontally without any anti sag will occur over time and can result in surface mount component's solder joints cracking.

People are also mounting the stock bracket differently to solve it so this may be worth a try if it works for your case:

          https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/pny-geforce-rtx-4… (see #33)

Some people also suggest using the motherboard mounting holes to the right, closer to the sata ports

      • Fan was running, like a ticking, like its hitting something, but once you stop the fan and it restarts the noise goes away

  • +7

    Not supporting Nvidia.

    • +6

      AMD isn't your friend either.

      • More of a friend than Nvidia.

        • +7

yeah is that why they held back stock to inflate prices? They care so much about you

    • +10

corporations are corporations, applying morality to them is a joke, look at 7900xtx price vs 6900xt, same problem as 40 vs 30

  • +2

PNY is actually quite good. I have one of their RTX 3080s.

  • +5

Bought an ARC750 and impressed with it. Apparently "Battle mage" series coming out later this year, going to wait for that, aint giving nvidia a cent

  • +2

bad value, needs to be [arbitrary number i made up]

  • +4

    hodl for <$1k

  • +5

Worst thing about all these cards is how giant they are now, no such thing as building a compact micro-itx case any more, you need a huge case still. Even the size of itx case has doubled in the last 10 years all due to these stupid large cards.

    • +1

agreed, but you just gotta pick the right one, the inno3d 70 ti x3 is only 2 slot, but then again people fit the 4090 in 9.95L T1, if only nvidia sold the fe here

      • +1

Ventus is another choice for 4090 to in fit T1 if you want

    • +1

Yeah all this 3-4 slot nonsense is getting ridiculous.

    • Agreed. My 3070ti FE fits inside my mini-itx SFF . True SFF is dead with this gen

  • +5

RTX 4080 for this price and I’ll bite

  • +2

Couldn’t hodl anymore and got a 4090, but from watching the prices of 4000 series recently this is an alright price if you can’t wait especially if you rather the RGB over a plain galax card.

  • +1

    For a SFF build (Louqe Ghost S1) I'm waiting for a deal on the Inno3d 2-slot 4070 Ti X3.

  • +1

Still rockin' my second hand1080ti at 2k and having ZERO isssues. I would like a new GPU but until the prices are reasonable, I don't NEED one.

  • What people are paying for is that DLSS3 Hardware chip on board.

  • I wonder if this deal better if it goes alive again?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754812#comment-13330611

  • Bought this card, which impresses me in several ways. It operates super quietly with no coil whine, and its temperature always stays under 65.
Thanks to its DLSS3 support, I can run all the latest games that support DLSS3 at 4k resolution with 60fps. The most amazing part is that it consumes half as much power as my friend's RTX3080ti.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase.

    • Notice any issues with latency/input delay using dlss3 at such low fps?

I heard artificial frames make the games look smoother but still have the same latency (sometimes worse) as that of 30fps, because the game isn't taking inputs during the artificial frames.

      • The short answer is no, maybe because I play game mostly on 2k
