Absolute legend. Thanks for all you do Luke.

    • +1

Also might want to fix the listing title, says 8gb

    • +6

Pretty impressed with updating the previous orders and refunding price for those that had upgraded the PSU
Not that I’m one of those people but Defs a thumbs up

    • Agree, may be it's due to increase competition: competitors are offering better PSUs in recent deals, $1K ish, proof below.

Also, may be TechFast should be transparent & list the full name & model of ALL parts, especially GPU & Mobo…same disclosure as competitors.

      80+ 550W -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/758343
      80+ Gold 700W -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756747
      80+ Gold 700W -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757277
      80+ Bronze 650W -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756618

    • Mobo: I wish that TechFast list the brand & model so that we can assess CPU upgrade path, read reviews, know Mobo's features etc.

CPU Upgrade path: AMD noted the following for their A320,
1.'Selective Beta BIOS update needed' for 5000 series processor, &
2.'Additional hardware combinations may be available through system suppliers. Check with your manufacturer for details.'
      Source-> https://www.amd.com/en/products/chipsets-am4
Up-gradable 5000 series CPUs is unknown & you can only HOPE that the Mobo allows an upgrade: VRM thermal effectiveness, can it handles extra heat from a stronger CPUs.
Assuming that you want to game @ 1080P Ultra & keep your system cool: longevity. CPU upgrade is most likely in a few years.

  • So this RTX3060ti is just shy of the RTX3070 performance?

    • -1

If you get the top tier 3060ti probably pretty close. But this will most likely be the lowest tiered 3060ti (which isn’t too much different to a top tier 3060ti; but as commented below prob closer to a 3060)

      • +7

i thought all 3060ti are the same?

is there a chart that shows the rankings of 3060Tis

        • +1

Yeah, I’m pretty sure different models of the same GPU have maybe a 5% difference in performance at most.
A low tier model might run hotter, feel cheaper, be noisier, not pretty and maybe not last as long (though there silicon lottery at play too) but I doubt performance will be significantly worse than even the best OC models

        • +1

The difference is in the clock speed (some are higher mem and core clocks), cooling performance and build quality.

    • -7

Not this gen, it’s more lean towards 3060 sadly.

      • +8

That’s incorrect, the 3060 Ti is just a cutdown 3070. It uses the same silicon die, GA104. The 3060 has the GA106.
The 3060 Ti is roughly 30% better than the 3060
The 3070 is about 10-15% better than the 3060 Ti

  • How will this handle Last of Us? Any predictions? Much appreciated. 🙂

    • +1

I think will depend on the resolution you want. Is your screen 1080p?

    • Hard to say with most of the specs TBD still… But I wouldn't expect a bunch of ray traced uber textures in here. So it may work similarly to Spiderman Miles Morales punching out 60FPS+ 4k ray traced with DLSS performance mode.

It'll still depend on their optimisation ability and focus to know for sure though. If this is your main use for the PC I'd wait for release and check reviews and videos and build from there.

  • +4

Again, a whole PC for a couple of hundred $ more than the inflated price for a GPU.
What a time to be alive.

  • +3

“Cheap” PC’s are getting damn great. This price use to be 1660 or 1650 something like that last year if I am not mistaken.

  • +6

    how low can you go
    how low can you go

  • WOW Budgeted and balanced

    • Except for that motherboard and SSD

      • +7

Its fairly enough for entry level IMHO

  • With the price of nvme and sata really just not being too different now - and possibly to get one of these entry level computers with nvme?

    • They Probably already have a bunch of sata in hand.

Just chuck in one of those $88 Kingston NV2s in there, and you are golden

      • I can't tell if the motherboard actually has nvme however

          • @dcep: That's not nvme?

            • @incipient: That's why they said alternatively.

              • @jsnowow: But the current build includes a data disk. I wouldn't need to ask Luke for a sata option as it's already there?

I'm very confused how we got here. All I was after was an nvme option =/

                • @incipient: Poke Luke a little harder and see if you can work something out.

The option to upgrade the OS SSD to NVMe is there with no mention of requiring a motherboard swap so I'd assume that means whatever budget A320 mobo they're using can accomodate them.

Keep in mind the original listing price is $1388, down to $1088 and then again to $888 with this coupon.

The cheapest price for a 5500 + 3060Ti I can find is $774, so they're squeezing everything else in for a little over $100. With all that said, it wouldn't surprised me if they deny your request for a free upgrade to an M.2 drive.

                  • @jsnowow: Wow, where to get for $774?

                    • @mr_asstight: I'm saying for the CPU and GPU alone, not an entire system.

                  • @jsnowow: Oh blimey it is there. Absolutely no clue how I didn't see that before. Thanks for pointing out what's right in front of me haha. I was clearly pre-coffee this morning when I looked =/

                    Apologies to everyone above haha

                    • @incipient: No apology necessary, pre-coffee exemption.

Good luck with your PC endeavour though, I'd maybe shoot EnigmaPC a PM and see if they have any plans of an ultra-budget build that can compete or even a custom order.

  • +6

Waiting for BPC Tech deal for the people in VIC

  • +2

While people are quick to critique components used, they seem not to use the price to compare to.

    • +1

Yeah i like these absolute bang for buck deals with money well spent on where it matters most, whilst others piling 50% of their budget on premium motherboard & PSU, justifying them by shouting at this a320 board and PSU gonna blow up burning your house down.

      • +2

A no name brand, no efficiency rating PSU is always concerning. It’s unlikely to burn down a house but taking out all the other components when it dies is a real possibility.
Glad they listened to the community feedback and have included a bronze rated PSU by default and even upgraded the previous deal orders too.

        • -4

and even upgraded the previous deal orders too.

          Just marketing lies

          • @MuddyClear: That's quite the accusation. I assume you have something to back it up.

            • -2

@FireRunner: Their poor reputation is my backup

              • @MuddyClear: Unless their reputation includes lying about upgrades then you’ll need to do better than that

        • +1

Pretty sure there have been issues with brand name & rated PSUs too… There's really no guarantee anywhere.

          • +2

@nitens: No guarantee but it is less common and you can often hear about it when its serious (like the exploding Gigabyte PSUs)
But yeah, don't place all your confidence in any component. Make backups of your data if you don't want to lose it

      • +4

My mate bought a PC from Techfast when they were selling R5 3500x/1660 systems for about $500. Killer deal, he's been really happy with it… until literally today, when the PSU fried and smoked. The PSU was an AYWUN 750W Bronze 80, but the Bronze 80 was listed as "certification pending". You can buy a cheap mobo, cheap ram, whatever. But get a brand name PSU.

        • +1

Sounds like he still had a good run for a $500 PC. He should just grab a random used PSU for $30 and swap it over and be good for another few years

          • @scottySK: No, the blown PSU fried all the computer parts. So a bad run

            • @MuddyClear: Wow that's extremely unlucky. Sound's more like a power surge from the wall than just a failed PSU then. Hope he can get in contact with tech fast support regardless

              • @scottySK: They don’t care

                • +1

@MuddyClear: If it's less than 2 years old I'd assume it's covered under consumer law

                  • @scottySK: Budget PC’s with the cheapest parts you can sniff out have standard 12 months warranty as expect by ACL

            • +2

@MuddyClear: Where in @naturaldecay 's post did they say it killed everything?

  • Am about to jump and get a 2nd hand 3070 for around $450-500 (depending on model and quality) but these deals make me hold back and snag a whole pc deal. Especially since im running a i5-8500 with 16gb anyway

    Thoughts anyone?

    • +1

If you're truly going for a budget pc, this is incredible value. But know that most of the components will likely be pretty bottom-shelf stuff (functional just not the best quality). ~90% of the cost of this build is in the GPU so if you don't mind slowly upgrading all the other components as you need them then this is a very good deal.

      • Why spend $1k on junk parts. Pay a little more for quality, always

    • +1

Depending on resolution etc you'll likely get better performance with a 8500/3070 than a 5500/3060ti

Edit: ex mining 3070 cards have gone for under $400 regularly

      • +1

where have they been popping up? im in Perth WA, and havent seen any go under 450? am thinking its the WA market

  • +2

I regretted not pulling the trigger the other day on this deal and it went out of stock. Didn't hesitate today.

  • +2

Not sure whether this or the BPCTech deal… Any thoughts oh wise ozbargainers?
    https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/sv-es6600-01-siren-vortex…

RX 6600 graphics card seems quite better….

    • BPC

    • +4

The 3060ti is substantially better than the RX 6600 though?

      • +1

The gap is probably smaller than you think. Gotta compare with most recent drivers. But yes, 3060ti is better

    • 3060 ti is a superior card, but bpc will use better parts. I would pay for an upgrade from the bpc deal. Just message them and see how much a 3060 ti will cost to swap the gpu

      • +1

I've never bought a prebuilt and probably never will. I also buy most parts used. It's the best way to get value out of a build. Thanks for the suggestions however, hopefully it helps someone

      • -1

        There is an existing 3060Ti deal-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/758905
Mobo; MSI Z590 PRO is a plus & can handle a hotter CPU upgrade: may be do your research to confirm.
May be extend your research to other known-parts.
$111 extra from the link-deal: may be its your judgement, eg case aesthetic.
TechFast not willing to list brand & model: may be they lose customers.

  • +5

Great value deal. More versatile than a console at around the same price. Finally.

    • +2

I got my xbox series S with controller for $200 used. You can't beat the S for pure value

  • Any similar deals with Intel CPU?

  • How does this compare to a PS5 if I can trying to decide between the two? I currently have an apple silicon Mac so I miss x86 and Windows for some niche applications.

    • +4

      Can't run x86 on a PS5… so it's a no brainer isn't it?

      • You're right. But it's only very few times I need real x86. If the PS5 has some serious advantages over the PC then I would consider it. The prospect of cheap / free games with the PC is enticing though.

    • +2

GPU on a PS5 is roughly as powerful as a 3060 non-Ti, so this is already theoretically more powerful with exception to the very specialised PS5 SSD. But, always remember that most AAA games are often going to be more, again 'theoretically', capably optimised for console than PC, especially over the longer term so it really depends if you have a 'buy once, don't think til the next gen' mindset, or you're happy to embrace the fiddle that comes with PC gaming.

  • +4

A whole PC for less than what I paid for my 3060Ti :(

  • When will your next 4080 build be released?

  • +5

+1 just for refunding other purchases so no one misses out, amazing!

  • anyone knows, hows this pc for playing fortnite?

    • +2

Will play it with ease on high settings

      • thanks! I saw your comment above about motherboard and SSD.. I'm planning to change to m2 but about this motherboard, what are your concerns actually?
also, do you know what kind of fps we can expect on qhd?

        • +1

Lack of upgrade options. Depending on what settings you choose; but from memory you should easily get between 60-100 if not more if you drop some settings to medium or high (I think epic is highest it goes)

    • +2

This also supports DLSS, which Fortnite supports, easy 1080p/120Hz at High settings.

  • +1

For anyone doubting, I've had a techfast system for the last 2+ years and it's still doing just fine. The support team as excellent when needed. Can definitely recommend

    • +2

      Me too.
Also know two others who purchased through them and all PC's been great. One 3+ years old, other 2+ years.

    • -2

The fact that you needed support isn't really reassuring.

      • +1

        My own stupidity actually.

Fun fact, having a robust support and returns process is one of the leading ecommerce conversion motivators. It's a peace of mind thing. I've bought things from David Jones and needed support and they were appalling. No product is infallible.

  • Odd question but can this pc handle recording guitar or music tracks?

    • +1

Very easily. My 7 year old Macbook pro handles this fine.

  • Crazy deal

  • Would this be a decent purchase if I wonna get my gf into PC gaming? Seems like it would run most games at 1080p

    • It will run ALL games at 1080p.

In theory it's "entry level" but these days there just aren't any games that require mid or high end. In fact you can play most games at 4k with this, and not always with reduced settings or even DLSS.

Sometimes even with RTX on, or better than 120FPS.

Personally I'd make a few different choices (Intel i3 12100f instead of 5500, better PSU, better mobo, slightly faster RAM) BUT that will add hundreds to the price for almost no extra performance.

So cheaping out a little on those components is a fair compromise that makes this much cheaper.

      • I wouldn't go that far lol. Dlss does help make them playable at 4k.
For example marvel midnight suns without dlss at 4k is atrociously choppy

      • I hope that your comments include Ultra setting-> 'It will run ALL games at 1080p'
Using a modern game that demand high resource. In the test below @ 1080p Ultra, 3060Ti average 68 FPS (1% low). The CPU used was R7 7700X: ~30% stronger than R5 5500 as per this deal. I hope that R5 5500 will deliver responsive inputs via high enough FPS.
Also, if CPU & GPU are running close to their 'safe' limit, I'm sure that they'll have a short life. The Mobo is also adversely impacted from the heat. I have assumed a high air-flow PC.

  • Placed an order with this cheap shit. Now asking driving license, utility bill, photo id. Paid using one time credit card. Now want to verify using deposit amount. Won’t cancel the order. Asking 25% restocking fees. Be careful with cheap shit Techfast. Selling cheap shit but pretend selling Ferrari or million $$ house.

    • -2

      Sounds legit…

      • I was talking about the customer. Not TF

    • That's odd. I placed an order about one week ago, and I wasn't asked for that additional information.
