    Price war! Everyone wins

    • +5

Except the small business trying to make a decent profit! But we appreciate their efforts in this time of inflation.

    • +1

      Sellers don't win though.

      • Smaller margins but greater volume, they still win.

        • +1

          It depends.

Selling 10 units at $100 profit is the same as selling 20 units at $50 profit.

          • @edfoo: no bro. you got double amount of work, especially assembles involved.

            • @watyoulookat: LOL, you are right. In that case, it's better to sell fewer units at higher profit margin. Plus fewer chances of dealing with whinging customers.

      • Yep.. race to the bottom… a race to oblivion.

  • +3

love the build, mesh front, decent and quiet cooler, matx!

    very nice

    • just had a look on the Gigabyte B550m k mobo,

it looked like a 4+2 phase VRM with 1high/1low mos.

No matter what MOSFET gigabyte uses this is going to be crap.

it will perform similar to asrock B550m HDV/ a320m HDV etc.

      • makes zero difference to 99% of buyers

it's a 65W cpu and people buying prebuilds aren't going to be pushing the CPU any further than stock, even the cooler is geared towards quiet operation rather than maximising cooling capacity

the 5700x will perform as expected

for the vast majority of people spending money of high or even mid tier motherboards is a great way to flush cash down the drain

        • by the time you say it's a 65w CPU, I won't need to argue with you no more because why would I argue with someone who have no knowledge about it.

65w is a TDP (thermal design power, not rated power), it was constructed with one variable called temperature delta, to show how much cooling power is required under certain temperature delta. by altering the delta you can get whatever number you like. Both AMD and Intel use TDP as a marketing value with no real meaning.

5700x will never run at TDP unless you manually set PPT.

It will run around or over 65w under gaming.

          • @OMGJL: nitpicking here because you know you are wrong but too small to admit it

these CPUs only use around 76w

in terms of VRM cheap name brands motherboards are going to make zero difference for 99% of buyers, if you want to talk about power delivery and overclocking then keep it on enthusiast forums - it's just bad advice here

this is a forum for good deals and saving money, you are doing exactly the opposite

            • @desync: Gigabyte has been using onsemi 4C06N for all of their AM4 low end board for the low side FET, assume this is the same.

It have only 1 low side FET, reading the spec sheet:
              Continuous Drain
              Current R-JA ≤ 10 s @ 80°C = 23.7A,

An average AM4 motherboard after vdroop will be running 1.15v to 1.2v under load.

you've got 4 phase without any VRM cooling so running at or above 80C is a given.

If you know enough, do your math before arguing.

If you don't know enough, stop arguing.

              • @OMGJL: modern VRMs are way over engineered, even the budget ones like here on the gigabyte are overkill for efficient 65w cpus

in this build it's even sandwiched between an exhaust fan and a 120mm cooler

it's going to have zero issues

save your money and don't screw around with the bios trying to extract a few more fps and it'll be fine - ie 99% of users here on ozb

                • @desync: ignores the spec, number, and facts that this VRM is not capable of driving 65w at all time.
                  keep posting the same reply.

modern VRMs are way over engineered

good to know you think 4 phase with 1 low side FET each phase is way over engineered

you don't deserve to use good stuff. getting ripped off by a manufacturer yet defend them like your own parents.

DO NOT REPLY ME IF you don't have any spec/statistics/math to prove your point.

Does anyone know if BPC sells this unassembled? is it faster to receive?

    • +3

yes we definately can do this way

      • +1

Whenever i ask on phone they say no though?

        • +3

The answer is YES, WE DEFINATELY CAN DO PARTS ONLY.

PM me the name of sales if you remember please.

          • @pearcekk: Your pm is blocked. Anyway i was told by 2 different staff that pc deals must come preassembled and not as parts only. Names start with Ch H and La (dont recall surname).

      • would that ship faster..?

        • +3

Definately will be faster than waiting to be assembled.

          • @pearcekk: I have an order that I made a few weeks ago, is it possible to request it to be shipped un-assembled? (if it hasn't already been assembled of course)

            • @crumbedsausage: Hi,

Please PM us your order number and see what we can do for you.

              Cheers,
              BPC Team

      • Is the shipping price the same either way?

    • +3

They did say they could but my parts from the other siren vortex deal the other week hasn’t been shipped yet

    • +1

      definately.

  • +1

    Hopefully a 3080 build is coming :(

    • +5

      4070 is around the corner

  • when utilizing the 5800X3D upgrade it says (Motherboard upgrade required) but is that part of the cost of the upgrade or which motherboard should be chosen? Additionally is there an option for 3600MHZ instead of 3200MHZ for the DDR4 RAM?

  • This or TechFast??
Might see if @enigmapc will come up with something of their own.

    • +6

Techfast deal looks better, 1tb SSD better, gold PSU better, price cheaper

    • +8

Only caveat with this deal is that the SSD drive technology in the included SSD is ancient and very slow. It's a mis-matched part with this build and doesn't belong.

You want to have an M.2 NVME drive with atleast 5000/5000MB/s read and write speeds. My M.2 ssd from 3-4 years ago had 2400MB/s read, a newer build like this one should have a better performing drive.

The included 2.5 inch drive in this deal is 500MB/s = turtle speed. Not a big deal if buy your own M.2 drive and pop it in, but a huge deal if you don't plan on replacing it.

BPC will make the slow 2.5 inch drive your boot drive where Windows will be installed.

If you are fairly tech savvy you could reinstall windows on a M.2 drive you bought yourself but if you wanted to save time and effort I'd probably get the $89 NVME upgrade.

Pro's Vs the tech fast deal = better case, includes better CPU cooler, higher quality ram, Micro ATX micro board paired with Micro ATX case (tech fast paired a micro atx motherboard with a regular sized atx case - no point in having a small motherboard in a large case when you don't need to - mismatched part).

Con's Vs the tech fast deal = Worse SSD drive, worse power supply than tech fast

      • +1

The MB on the Techfast deal can't do M.2 drives on Pcie4, has one M.2 and doesn't have space for an additional WiFi card as another Con for the Techfast deal.

  • Any chance of a 3060 12gb build?

    • +3

      Hold my beer

  • Add AsRock B550M PRO4 + 802.11 ax WiFi +$89.00

On the ASROCK site it says:
    M.2 (KEY E) For WiFi
Besides the onboard LAN port, users may also choose 802.11ac wireless connections by M.2 (Key E) slot.
    *Wi-Fi module is not included.

So will it be ax or ac?

    • Intel AX200 for sure:)

  • +1

Thanks, made some changes and ordered!

  • Im ready to buy a new gaming PC after about 10 years and im so confused :( So many ofbthese builds im advised skimp on certain compnents that will ultimately be the bottleneck…

    • +6

People tend to get a bit caught up with the idea of "bottlenecks". In reality, saving money on parts like ram, motherboard and ssd and putting it all towards a beefy gpu (and to a lesser extent cpu) is still the best way to get the best performance for your money - and that's what these builds tend to do.

Compromises like a stock cpu cooler or slow ssd are easy to swap out down the line if you feel like it.

This is a great value build, although the techfast one with its nvme ssd and $50 lower pricetag might be slightly better again. But take your time and do your own research, pick what stands out to you.

    • +1

Tbh if you'd upgrade the SSD to the 1TB NVME drive you will probably be fine. It could be Pcie3 which would be annoying but for gaming it's not the biggest issue. Do understand what you mean, you're spending close to $2000 so you want it to be as perfect as possible.

    • +3

Tech and compute power has advanced alot in the last 10 years, where even with bottlenecks these current day machines will perform the everyday mundane tasks like web browsing, video watching and even gaming perfectly fine.

Yes even with thermal throttling, running out of ram or speed of your ram being slow (like not running in dual channel mode). It is not a huge deal unless you are constant gaming at the bleeding edge. TBH on a machine like this are you really gonna notice 150fps Vs 120fps? It's not like decades ago where there is little performance, every frame counts…at 15fps Vs 45fps.

So don't be concerned about bottlenecks. All three build and ship vendors here does pretty decent job of combining the parts to give you good performance and bang for buck.

If you wanna build yourself then yeah…that's the homework you gotta do. Otherwise you end up with an i9 13th gen and a RTX 2070 … :x

  • No way! just ordered 3080 build from you last Friday lol

I was in the exact same boat. Called them and asked to be upgraded to this deal and pay the difference. They were accomodating. +1 for great customer service
