[NSW] Redeem Rewards & Earn Points with McDelivery (No Rewards & Points via Other Delivery Service) @ MyMaccas App

5318

I think these post belongs in the deal section. McDelivery it's now available on the MyMaccas app.
The delivery it's Powered by DoorDash, the service lets you order directly through the MyMacca’s app – and unlike ordering through third party delivery services – you can redeem rewards and deals as well as earn points through the app!

You can also track the status of your Macca’s delivery through the app. To order using the app, make sure by tapping the “McDelivery” button, instead of “Pickup” when you start to place an order on the app.

A delivery fee, and a reduced service fee of 5% (compared to 10% through third party services) applies when you order through the app.

This offer is available at participating stores.

I hope someone finds this helpful. Enjoy!!

Is it inflated cost per item vs ordering pick up? Delivery expensive?

      • Sorry, not saying this isn't a deal, genuine question. Because otherwise other delivery platforms could work out better sometimes with stacked discounts etc.

But for instance if it's free delivery + regular cost items then this is very good, particularly when they have their own offers.

        • We will need to see what promotions will McDonald's do through McDelivery.

          • @Scrooge McDeal: Hopefully it's free delivery and the items cost the same! Will be good.

            • +1

@snoopydoop: Free it's always good 😊. At the moment it's another option for delivery with the benefit of earning points but also redeeming deals or points.

    • +39

Prices are indeed inflated for delivery vs pickup. There’s also a delivery fee (mine is showing as $3.99) and a service fee. (5% of the order subtotal). This is no different to ordering through usual delivery apps except you earn some minuscule MyRewards points, but then can’t use discounted gift cards you may have for the other delivery apps.

The MyDeals on the app are also for pickup only, they unfortunately can’t be applied for delivery. Had that not been the case I’d consider this a bargain.

The only benefit of this is yet another delivery option and earning a couple of MyRewards points. No real savings to be had here. This is an announcement.

      • +11

Thanks for the info. Sick of the service fee that everyone's adding, ACCC really need to clamp down on it.

Shame mydeals can't be used. Without that, and constant offers on other services, I can't imagine it'd be worth it very often, although never looked at the points system.

        • +5

points system isn't too bad if I am totally honest, not crazy but still quite generous for a free system

          • +1

@doobey1231: Every 4-5th order is basically free for me. Surprisingly decent for a major company

        • +13

I have indeed “actually checked on the app” thanks. I’ve tried for three stores in my area. There’s a significant price difference between items selected for a pick up order, and delivery. And all the MyDeals are locked when trying to order them as delivery, the app prompts you to change your order to a pick up if trying to select them.

      • +2

        Agree 100%

      • +1

yep… ~10% extra cost plus delivery fee plus service fee plus small order fees below $15.

no deal to be found here.

        • -2

When you deliver through third party delivery services aren't the same fees applied?

          • +4

@Scrooge McDeal: yes - that's why none of them are deals unless you have a good voucher or heavily discounted gift card.

            • -5

@PKBeam: I consider these a deal because instead of ordering the conventional way through third party delivery services. You can get McDelivery through the app and earn points and you can redeem deals or points. The same fees applied because the delivery it's fulfilled by Doordash.

              • +3

@Scrooge McDeal: Almost every deal or bonus in the app is marked as Pickup Only.

Points can be earned or redeemed as per usual, but this behaviour isn't special or notable so I personally don't see this as sufficient for a deal post - sorry.

      • Ad. Normal pricing.

    • Very much inflated, I didn’t realise it was set to pickup, when I changed it to delivery the prices immediately went up and a deal for 24 nuggets had to be removed because it wasn’t available for delivery.

And that was before adding a service and delivery charge.

I just used Ubereats since I have gift cards from the amazon sale instead. All this “deal” is is DoorDash via the maccas app

the fact that the chips get cold quick makes me wonder how fussy people are or they just want something to eat because pantry and fridge is empty …even when i’m in store i ask for chips from a fresh batch so they are hot.

  • +8

if a post about a movie being released counts as a deal, so does this

    • -2

I agree. Specially because these is a new option and it's the only way for someone to earn points, redeem deals or points if they want a delivery.

    • +2

Spot on . There is quality control of content problems everywhere nowadays .

    • +3

Or you could argue that movies on paid subscriptions aren’t deals and either is this , but i upvoted you for the sentiment

      • +5

sadly mods disagree. someone did a poll and mods ignored the result because, in the end, popular deals are good for ozbargain's popularity

        • +2

Yep gets them revenue through ad clicks from lurkers

          • @easternculture: Incorrect. Moderation decisions are based on what's best for the community. If we just wanted ad clicks, we'd make all deals affiliate links, remove referral system etc. Cmon EC, you've been around long enough to know that.

            • +4

              @neil:

Cmon EC, you've been around long enough to know that.

Doesnt mean i agree on everything 🤔

              • @easternculture: Sure, disagreeal is fine and welcome but making assumptions that staff are making moderation decisions based on ad clicks is incorrect. Lots of the moderation guidelines were created/tweaked from your feedback (e.g. referrals).

                • +1

@neil: So what i understand from this debate is ad clicks are not a major source of passive income for ozbargain.

                  • @easternculture: Incorrect.

                    Two seperate things.

                    • OzBargain makes money from display ads mostly & affiliate links for guest users.
                    • OzBargain moderation decisions are based on what is best for the community, not on what makes more revenue.

                    How does OzBargain make money?

                    • +1

@neil: Lets end it here so we both dont end up in the penalty box for going off topic lol

        • Incorrect. This isn't the first time you've made this assertion.

          • A forum post in site discussion on whether subscription deals should be posted as a deal.
          • There was a poll at the bottom that basically had YES or NO without any other choices.
          • At this point, we had no filtering mechanisms to hide these posts.
          • Based on the feedback, we created filters & tags to hide these posts.
    • +2

Can i post a deal when X product becomes available for sale in Y store

      • i tried posting a MV getting released on YouTube and it was immediately removed, so i don't know where mods draw the arbitrary line

        • +2

Probably because your not a popular poster, thats the issue

          • @easternculture: Jeez, you and belongsinforums really wearing the tin foil hats tonight.

            Keep trolling…

            • +6

@neil: Bit of a personal attack there 🤷‍♂️

              • +2

@Tal_Shiar: Lol Ozb PR damage control

Today tonight: Is it true popular posters are allowed to post a deal even if it belongs in forums

                Ozb mod: no comment

                • @easternculture:

Is it true popular posters are allowed to post a deal even if it belongs on forums

No. What's a criteria of a popular poster? Why would OzBargain staff make different decisions based on how popular a poster is? It makes no sense. What's in it for us? More work, more people yelling at us?

                  Reference: Deal Posting Guidelines

@neil: Chill dude. You can't take a joke.

                    • @easternculture:

Hope your more fun at parties

If you mean, am I the one making sure people use coasters, you're damn right!

I don't think it was obvious you were making a joke in your comment, but if you are then fair enough. I think you're supposed to add a /s at the end of the comment. 🤷‍♂️

Neg for highly inflated prices and no availability of the in app specials

Let alone all the missing items

      • +4

I’ve checked and they’re substantially higher.

I am definitely willing to consider delivery and it’s great that it is in the app now. The problem, along with all the apps, is that the cost differential is shrouded in trickery and bamboozlement.

I need transparency. If it were normal menu prices and $12 for delivery, and the driver gets $8 I would be happy.

I would be willing to bet the driver is subject to substantial opaqueness as well.

        • I wonder when I put an add on to my Doordash order of a large 7/11 slurpee for $1.50 . Its crazy $1.50 for that delivered lol . Surely DoorDash is subsidizing big time the order .

          • @lostgoat: Doordash: “It’s ON THE WAY rajesh why would we pay you extra for that?”

            • @DingoBlue: Its just weird you can place one extra order at nearby businesses with no minimum limit including free delivery . Often this is delivered by a separate driver .

        • Why can’t they just say up front, it’s 30% extra plus delivery fee for delivery

      • +1

Mine are also inflated - roughly 30% more than instore prices and all my deals say pickup only and don't work for delivery. Theres even a banner right at the top of the page that says "Fees apply, prices for delivery may be higher than for pickup".

      • You're the perfect audience for food delivery apps

  • I think people are missing the point . eg for me I have 2500 pts ( a hamburger lol ) expiring if I didn't see this post and I can use them now . I'm not driving to a Maccas except for in Nov . Scrooge saved my hamburger :)

    • +3

I always spend the 2500 on a coffee, you can get a large worth $5+ with 2500 points. Better than a $1 hamburger

      • +4

Yeah McCafe drinks are where it's at for redeeming points.

        • +1

Agreed , spend $25 get a free $5 drink it’s not too bad

  • Cook yourself something better tasting, more filling, better for you and cheaper in less time than waiting for delivery.

    • +3

Please post your home cooked deal or maybe find another site to make public your valuable thoughts.

    • Yes! Don’t be like the guy who just ordered 7 double cheeseburgers :)

  • +3

All of my deals say pick up only, and the deals all suck anyway.

  • +1

Made a large group purchase for $130 in the app only showed 1500 points… Contacted mcD and they didn't even respond. Nothing and 3 months on nothing.. Useless points system.

  • +4

This is more of an advertisement than a bargain!

  • +4

This is already an option MyMaccas provided for a while? What's the point? MyMaccas even advertises it alongside the option to pick-up if you install the app. It's not a deal, it's already part of the app (and has for a while). Besides, the difference you pay on MyMaccas is inflated, it even states so in the app. Hardly warrants a deal - both pick-up and delivery give the same amount of points from what you purchase.
EDIT: Op seems to state the prices are not inflated? This is wrong, the app states it in red text for me saying the prices are inflated (using the word 'inflated' quite literally). E.g. a large double quarter meal is around $15 pick-up. With delivery it's $20.

    • -4

Prices are not inflated if you consider the conventional way of ordering through third party delivery services. That's what I wanted to say. Anyway, everyone it's entitled of their opinion. I just posted for people that usually order through third party delivery services. And I thought they will find these option useful.

    • +1

It’s been an option on the app for about 3 months, however the ability to actually place an order for delivery only started around 3-4 weeks ago

      • That's valid, I just remembered using MyDelivery already a few times with my points, feels like a long time ago! Regardless, the cost is just as much as buying from DoorDash and Menulog.

Yes I own Maccas and Doordash 🤣

      • +2

        It sure does seem xD

      • Mates rates pls

        • -1

Eshay bah , don't need mate rates. Just goes in Maccas and gets what they want for free 😄

  • +6

    Forum. Not a deal.

  • +3

A delivery is a service which you pay for either via delivery fees or inflated menu price.

    Definitely not a bargain.

  • You actually cant use the in app deals. Unless theyre now running ones specifically for delivery but i bet theyre garbage.

  • +1

You can’t use MyMacca’s rewards on the delivery service. When you get to the checkout area it says under the rewards item “there is a problem with your order, please remove it”

  • +2

Honestly delivery apps need to be slapped hard by the heavy hand of regulation.

They should be welcome to charge whatever they want and gouge us all they like… but not hide it between 3 separate sources of fees (increased item cost, service, and delivery.) Thats really quite insane.

It also allows them to regularly advertise free delivery and offer a free delivery subscription whilst still, in fact, charging substantially for it. Besides, what exactly is the ‘service’ they provide…

  • +3

Bro at least post a PS5 at retail price lol

  • +3

    Can't spot the deal

  • +2

Thank you, noted. It’s good, but not a deal.

  • +1

I already want to neg this deal just because MyMacca's app itself… There are rarely any worthwhile deals even for pickup…

    • +2

Agreed - there aren’t any real deals and the only benefit is you can skip the queue and accumulate points. Although that’s too basic too.

  • What if I have dashpass? Doesn't seem to apply the delivery discount

  • +2

Not a deal for the jacked prices on delivery options. Is the delivered food different from store-bought? Why are they deserve a higher price tag when delivery fee is charged already? Or it’s just because people can get startled easily when they see the real cost of delivery?

  • Door dash isn’t mcdelievry.
My local actually has staff that deliver when you use delivery.
Prices same as in store if your store has the service active.
It’s being rolled out and in mean time mcd have cut a deal with door dash to offer reduced delivery fees etc until more stores get the service.

  • Diabetes delivered

  • This is a feature. Still waiting for a deal…
