      • Is Jack Deal reputable?

        • It arrived for me without issue! And I was going to rely on PayPal if it didn't.

Their reviews on ProductReview are pretty bad, but then again, so are Dick Smith's and Harvey Norman's

          • @theknight27: bigger concern is how warranty is handled

            • @pinkybrain: I've only ever had issues when trying to go through Kogan so I'll take my chances with someone else I guess!

              • @theknight27: the reviews for warranties is bad

Don't like giving your money back on items that don't work.
Does not work properly on Vodafone or Telstra network. I am in dispute with Jackdeal through ebay at the moment and they are playing hard ball on a refund.. Do not buy this phone, does not work on 5G and reception is terrible even in Sydney city. You're better off buying a cheap phone at Kmart, Big W or Target and save yourself the hassle,

                Dear Customer,

We are sorry to hear about that. We have advised our Customer Service Team to look into your issue, they will continue to assist you with this matter through emails.

                Best regards,
                Charlotte from Jack Deal

PayPal already refunded me as your company stalled with the refund process. You lost the resolution and the case was closed in my favour. Your response here is purely for optics as you failed at the most important part of customer service.

                Warranty is a lie
Purchased phone from the company at a good price. Device failed within 12 months due to a motherboard issue.
After contacting the company with a warranty claim they wanted me to pay to have it repaired and offered to "refund the reasonable compensation" if I met a number of their requirements, unsuccessfully, local repair shops didn’t want to meet the companies demand for a written report.
The company begrudgingly accepted my phone being shipped back to them. After having my phone for two weeks, I was advised "the fault was diagnosed on the m… Read more

                The product was perfect but…
Jack Deal is NOT an Aussie shop. It's a front for a chinese distributor. Not that there's anything wrong with that but when you think you're waiting for a quick Auspost delivery (they send you a pre-generated code that they don't actually use) you'll be waiting a while. And you ask for the actual courier details, they'll refuse to tell you. Sorry, but dishonesty should not be rewarded.

      • How did you get it for $650?

        • They were just selling it at that price.

  • what's the delivery timings for Melbourne?? I won't be back in the country for another 2 weeks, I don't want it to come too soon

    • +8

I'll check if it arrives early for you. What's your address? :p

    • If you want the upgraded screen and don’t want to upgrade it yourself…

  • +4

As a typically not PC girl, this thing has changed my world. Hit over 500+ hours over several games since owning this thing.

Edit: if you've never pulled apart a PC before, get a bigger capacity. If you feel comfortable, get a smaller unit + a bigger HD.

  • Got one, thanks. Going through storage upgrade tutorials now. ;)

    • +2

Hardest part is removing the back cover. Don't forget to remove the microSD card and disconnect the battery!

      • Thanks, looks like I need to be careful with the battery disconnect.
I noticed 48 of the 64gb have sold while units sold on the other 2 is still at one.

        • +2

The $250 price difference from the 64 to 256 can get you a 1TB nvme and a 512GB MicroSD card.

  • +2

Genuine question seeing this is from eBay store. How would warranty work if you needed to claim a repair?

    • +1

      Shipped back to the seller.

      • +1

Would they be obligated though…..don't ebay only intervene within the first 30 days?

        • +2

They have the same obligation as any Australian business. They do declare a 12 month warranty.

  • Off topic, but I've just noticed it now.

Did ebay disable sales history recently on the listing?

  • Had mine for a while now - I got the 64 and upgraded the SSD to a 1tb and also got a 1tb micro USB.

Great unit - terrible battery life though.

    • How terrible? What’s the charger? Does it require AC?

      • +2

Battery life is dependent on what you're playing.

        A 45W USB PD charger(15V/3A) is required.

      • +1

Charging is quick, but I'd get sub 2 hrs on most new games - longer on basic or older ones

    • Terrible battery ilfe

I was personally impressed i could even get 1.5 hours, let alone up to 2hr for cyberpunk.

Had it at 30fps on low-medium settings with sub-HD resolution.

    • That's the deal breaker for me, you'd have it on charge all the time. May as well just get a desktop PC

Just another toy like the Quest2 that will sit in the cupboard collecting dust.

      • It's not for everybody. Everyones use case is different.

I take mine on the public transport. I love it.

  • Anybody know a good deal on antiglare screen protectors for them?

  • Does it work offline?

    • +1

Just like a PC, you'll need to be online to download games and play online multiplayer games. Once a game is installed on disk, you can play while Steam Deck is offline unless the game requires an internet connection.

  • +5

Best purchase in a while - would recommend for new parents with easy start stop continue of games.

  • This deal is one lol.

  • Can you connect a steering wheel (G920) and play racing games while it is on the docking station?

    • +1

Yes, although racing peripheral support can be a bit temperamental on Linux (although Logitech is the best supported). If worst comes to worst you can dual boot Windows. Here's a discussion on Linux/Steam Deck simracing support: https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/zly5g8/sim_racin…

      • Thanks heaps for the information and link, much appreciated

  • +1

Ozbargain impulse purchasing will be the death of me. Regardless, I've got 20 hour flights to and from Europe coming up - hopefully this will help make those journeys bearable!

    • 20 hours

idk man, unless you have battery bank and playing pretty basic stuff with tweaks, i think even 5-6 hours reliably is a stretch.

      • +3

I have a sizable powerpack. As long that + in-seat charging gives me 3 or so hours per leg I'll be pretty pleased (my flights are 13hours + 7 hours, so can charge in transit). Just something to break the monotony of movies+books.

        • Don't some aircraft have AC charging ports? Not sure if they're enough to fully power something like the deck though.

  • Anyone have a set of recommended accessories? Kickstand, case, etc?

    • +1

I just got a soft TPU cover for mine. Probably wouldn't protect it from a drop but it's thin and very grippy.

Can't find unaffiliated AliExpress link but it was $14.

      • Thanks mate, appreciate the info

    • I got a little credit card sized microsd card holder, then wrapped it in felt. Makes storing them super simple and easy as the holder just lives in the steamdeck case. I've got a few different microsd cards for different purposes like AAA games, or emulation, or indie games, etc. then just use my internal ssd as a shader repository.

      • Ahh that's very clever. Thanks for the suggestion

    • +1

I didn't buy anything other than a screen protector. The provided case is sufficient for how I will be using it.

In terms of accessories that I am using:

      • Dock(WD22TB4)/Lapdock for setting things up in desktop mode
      • Jabra Elite 75T for multipoint on train rides
      • 512GB BC711 SSD
      • 512GB Samsung SD Card
      • Mophie charger that fits behind the elastic
      • Many thanks!

    • +2

Thanks ! 512GB for $67 is very cheap which is enough for me (I'll still play AAA on my desktop proper, and play smaller games like Rimworld/Factorio/Project Zomboid in steam deck so this suits me just fine)

and has lower Amp than WD too !

  • +3

Just got notification that the steam deck arrived at my home today. That was damn fast, and I love in regional suburb too

    • +4

Purchased late last night, delivered this morning and played it on the train in. Absolutely chuffed

      • +2

It's a pretty spectacular piece of tech.

    • +1

      Same, great service.
